According to the DVD commentary, a substantial portion of that season's funding was spent on the rights to "Layla." Worth it.

ratings horserace stuff: whitney/chelsea got decent-for-nbc ratings on wednesday, which, vomit. however, 30 rock, in community's old time slot, basically got community ratings (maybe a fraction higher), so there's some vindication that the nbc 8:00 time slot is poison.

the firm got even more hilariously low ratings after they moved it to thursday @ 10, so that might be yanked pretty quick here.

fighting growlbacks bottomless spirit pit (reddening), Saturday, 14 January 2012 02:17 (fourteen years ago)

iirc, Community is still on its regular shooting schedule, so it's not inconceivable that a quick, Firm yank could result in, "You asked for it, America! Community's back sooner than expected!"

Surprised how small Annie's boobs* are considering it is internet comic book art involving large boobs the internet are obsessed over.

*the actual boobs, not the monkey

Isn't she supposed to be young Kitty Pryde (w/Annie's Boobs as Lockheed)? She didn't busty til later on in Excalibur.

(This has to be the nerdiest post I've ever made here.)

I kind of wish I had an action figure of this!

Also, still disappointed that we didn't get to see Jim Rash at the Golden Globes when the Descendants won.

Nicole, Monday, 16 January 2012 20:43 (fourteen years ago)

i would buy all of those as action figures tbh

Mordy, Monday, 16 January 2012 20:53 (fourteen years ago)

I'm just glad that I recognized all of the X-Men (although the last time I read it, Prof X had a regular wheelchair).

Also, love that Chang's/Nightcrawler's taped-on tail fell off.

He got the space-age wheelchair after he started boning Lilandra

Wow...I don't even know who that is. In fact, I think Kitty Pryde was still called Sprite when I last checked in.

Let A Man Come In And Do The Cop Porn (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 03:14 (fourteen years ago)

Lilandra was the Shi'ar empress that Xavier ditched Earth to shack up with for several years; when he came back, he brought a ton of alien tech with him and massively upgraded the mansion's tech, inlcuding his wheelchair

lilandra she's a space princess. i just looked it up and kitty pryde has been shadowcat since i was born!

Mordy, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 03:18 (fourteen years ago)

Kitty showed up after Lilandra btw

Ha...yeah, I stopped paying attention around issue 165 or so, which is to say , #165 of The Uncanny X-Men. I realize now there are about 14 variations.

am ready essential x-men vol 4 at the moment and just have to ask - why was paul smith's run on the title so short??

same reason paul smith's run on anything he's ever done is so short

30 rock demo ratings were down from last week, so it's officially doing just as bad as community ever did. whitney/chelsea fell too thanks to american idol coming back.

It's the timeslot, dammit.

and the network. and the shows.

@51TimesNo (some dude), Friday, 20 January 2012 21:55 (fourteen years ago)

NBC has said that Community won't be on Thursdays when it comes back.

Let A Man Come In And Do The Cop Porn (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Friday, 20 January 2012 23:30 (fourteen years ago)

not even during the 10 o'clock hour? boooo nbc

fighting growlbacks bottomless spirit pit (reddening), Saturday, 21 January 2012 09:59 (fourteen years ago)

Surprising they aren't going for the 10pm comedy hour again given that The Firm is doing worse than Prime Suspect.

encarta it (Gukbe), Saturday, 21 January 2012 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

of all the things that have done badly in that timeslot since "ER" went off the air, trying more hourlong dramas is still probably a better gamble than primetime Leno, "The Marriage Ref," or six sitcoms in a row.

@51TimesNo (some dude), Saturday, 21 January 2012 17:45 (fourteen years ago)

True, but 30 Rock did much better at 10 last year than their dramas and The Apprentice. When they pull The Firm I don't know that they have anything to replace it with.

^^^ this. Or a kickstarter that sent Whitney Cummings to outer space, thus clearing space for Community on NBC's schedule.

Nicole, Monday, 20 February 2012 18:04 (fourteen years ago)

It'll probably occupy the place of the Chelsea Handler thing, because Whitney is still a winner (by NBC standards).

Johnny Fever, Monday, 20 February 2012 18:07 (fourteen years ago)

That is so depressing on so many different levels.

Nicole, Monday, 20 February 2012 18:10 (fourteen years ago)

one of the supporting cast members on Are You There Chelsea? just did an SNL audition showcase, which is less than a vote of confidence in the show from the network brass.

You know, its kind of annoying to get IMPORTANT(!) news updates about this show every week without news on when the hell these episodes are going to air.

But at this point I'm assuming they're going to be burned off over the summer.
