yeah the Layla bit in particular killed me!

According to the DVD commentary, a substantial portion of that season's funding was spent on the rights to "Layla." Worth it.

ratings horserace stuff: whitney/chelsea got decent-for-nbc ratings on wednesday, which, vomit. however, 30 rock, in community's old time slot, basically got community ratings (maybe a fraction higher), so there's some vindication that the nbc 8:00 time slot is poison.

the firm got even more hilariously low ratings after they moved it to thursday @ 10, so that might be yanked pretty quick here.

iirc, Community is still on its regular shooting schedule, so it's not inconceivable that a quick, Firm yank could result in, "You asked for it, America! Community's back sooner than expected!"

Lilandra was the Shi'ar empress that Xavier ditched Earth to shack up with for several years; when he came back, he brought a ton of alien tech with him and massively upgraded the mansion's tech, inlcuding his wheelchair

Surprising they aren't going for the 10pm comedy hour again given that The Firm is doing worse than Prime Suspect.

of all the things that have done badly in that timeslot since "ER" went off the air, trying more hourlong dramas is still probably a better gamble than primetime Leno, "The Marriage Ref," or six sitcoms in a row.

True, but 30 Rock did much better at 10 last year than their dramas and The Apprentice. When they pull The Firm I don't know that they have anything to replace it with.

^^^ this. Or a kickstarter that sent Whitney Cummings to outer space, thus clearing space for Community on NBC's schedule.

It'll probably occupy the place of the Chelsea Handler thing, because Whitney is still a winner (by NBC standards).

That is so depressing on so many different levels.

one of the supporting cast members on Are You There Chelsea? just did an SNL audition showcase, which is less than a vote of confidence in the show from the network brass.
