Mark Hughes, according to Sky Sports News, who appear to be just getting info off twitter like the rest of us.

ailsa, Sunday, 8 January 2012 18:31 (fourteen years ago)

Okay, Hughes could be better. The Telegraph has it on Warnock, but not confirmed.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 8 January 2012 18:34 (fourteen years ago)

Statement from QPR shortly. Seems to be a thing.

ailsa, Sunday, 8 January 2012 18:37 (fourteen years ago)

A thing?

Back Shift Backline (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 8 January 2012 18:38 (fourteen years ago)

'A thing' as in 'it's true' or as in 'he's not been sacked for footballing reasons, but for some kind of controversy'?

Back Shift Backline (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 8 January 2012 18:39 (fourteen years ago)

a thing as in true, as opposed to twitter rumours.

ailsa, Sunday, 8 January 2012 18:40 (fourteen years ago)

Seems a shame to me

Back Shift Backline (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 8 January 2012 18:44 (fourteen years ago)

i hate Warnock but i'd rather he was in the Prem than Mark Hughes

Poppy Newgod and the Phantom Banned (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 8 January 2012 18:45 (fourteen years ago)

Him in Mark Hughes would be horrible, yes

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 8 January 2012 18:46 (fourteen years ago)

Poppy Newgod and the Phantom Banned (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 8 January 2012 18:49 (fourteen years ago)

The Mail has a very lengthy quote from Warnock confirming it,, but then they also had a lengthy report from Amanda Knox's failed appeal, so

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 8 January 2012 18:58 (fourteen years ago)

Foxy 'Nocksy

Poppy Newgod and the Phantom Banned (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 8 January 2012 19:03 (fourteen years ago)

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has claimed that Demba Ba's release clause is actually around half the £10m mooted over the weekend, which could be set to spark a transfer frenzy.
Full story: Daily Mirror

hooooly shit arsene get up on this.

I am Newgod (a hoy hoy), Monday, 9 January 2012 08:24 (fourteen years ago)

I certainly wouldn't have, but hey. (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 9 January 2012 09:08 (fourteen years ago)

Time, and Scholes' eventual contribution, will be the judge of this decision and the player known as 'The Ginger Prince' is the last person in the game who will have gone to Ferguson and asked to play as some sort of vanity project.

Brazil: Palmeiras react to fans holding a "homophobia pride" rally after reports the club were in talks to sign Atlético Mineiro's Richarlyson. Palmeiras: "We have no plans to sign him. Richarlyson is a good athlete, but the difficulties with our fans are clear. We have history."

• 2007 – Richarlyson sues after a Palmeiras director incorrectly outs him on TV, telling fans: "Palmeiras will never buy a gay." Judge Manoel Maximiano Junqueira Filho dismissed the case. "The comments are fair; football is virile. Gays cannot play in normal teams, they should stick to their own. Each monkey in its own branch, each rooster in its own coop, each king in its own deck of cards. That is what I think, and I'm the judge, so I say it."

Is Hughes to QPR really happening? If so, enjoy yr indentured Joorabchian shop-window crap for half a season, Hoops fans.

Matt DC, Monday, 9 January 2012 10:21 (fourteen years ago)

Could be worse, could be Bruce

Tom D (Tom D.), Monday, 9 January 2012 10:23 (fourteen years ago)

That guy really is the worst agent ever, I've realised - for some reason I'd just assumed he was some kind of evil genius.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 9 January 2012 10:25 (fourteen years ago)

Faurlin's out injured for the remainder as well, I accept the blame myself for the mild praise I offered him last week.

boxall, Monday, 9 January 2012 10:33 (fourteen years ago)

Apparently Salomon Kalou got permission from the Ivory Coast FA to fly back to London from Dubai, to open talks with Arsenal? Not sure what to think of it tbh

I certainly wouldn't have, but hey. (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 9 January 2012 13:04 (fourteen years ago)

That's way more desperate than asking Thierry back

Tom D (Tom D.), Monday, 9 January 2012 13:06 (fourteen years ago)

yep. Chamakh's a sight better.

carpy deems (darraghmac), Monday, 9 January 2012 13:25 (fourteen years ago)

...
...
...

Benny Noon > Kalou > Arshavin > Chamakh > Park (not that I know f all about him.)

The guy is boring but he is reliable, not prone to being a dick if on the bench/dropped (fine for when aoc makes the proper step up) and can score. And he's never really been given a chance to shine in anything other than sub appearances, has he? I guess it is a smart enough signing and the type Wenger likes, if the price is as low as I'd expect it to be.

However, it is fucking underwhelming. There is still the Kolo/Ade money sat in the bank, let alone to Cesc money. Give the fans something to truly be happy* about while the club just tread water. Even if such a signing would turn out as shit as Andrey, everyone needs more of a boost right now than Salomon bloody Kalou can provide.

*Henry doesn't fucking count.

"We tried to get Gotze but he wasn't available, so we went for the next obvious option."
"Eden Hazard?
"No, Salomon Kalou."

unattractive on the g side (a hoy hoy), Monday, 9 January 2012 13:28 (fourteen years ago)

kalou's had lots of chances

carpy deems (darraghmac), Monday, 9 January 2012 13:30 (fourteen years ago)

He's been there a long time

Tom D (Tom D.), Monday, 9 January 2012 13:33 (fourteen years ago)

Warnock gets sacked because his board aren't happy to be hovering just above the drop zone in their first season up. Hmmmmmm.

Poppy Newgod and the Phantom Banned (Noodle Vague), Monday, 9 January 2012 13:35 (fourteen years ago)

crazy decision by bored who went through 9 managers in 4 years and had no qualms hiring joey barton shockah.

unattractive on the g side (a hoy hoy), Monday, 9 January 2012 13:47 (fourteen years ago)

no i was praising them on their proactiveness

Poppy Newgod and the Phantom Banned (Noodle Vague), Monday, 9 January 2012 13:48 (fourteen years ago)

wd like to see other clubs in a similar situation who have maybe been in the Prem for a couple of seasons follow their lead

Poppy Newgod and the Phantom Banned (Noodle Vague), Monday, 9 January 2012 13:48 (fourteen years ago)

yeah moyes out

At some point you're going to have to man up and admit that that money isn't actually there any more. Still, whatever the question is, Salomon Kalou is not the answer. The scouting network at Arsenal really isn't what it used to be. And at Old Trafford for that matter. There's got to be some middle ground between Hazard/Gotze/other flavour-of-the-month types who everyone wants and yer standard issue underwhelming Prem perennials, but no one seems to be able to find them.

Warnock gets sacked because his board aren't happy to be hovering just above the drop zone in their first season up. Hmmmmmm.

Thing is, for every Fulham there's a Charlton where replacing the manager just makes the situation worse. You've got to be pretty damn sure you've got the right replacement lined up. No idea who that would be at Wolves.

Matt DC, Monday, 9 January 2012 14:08 (fourteen years ago)

newcastle are finding them

carpy deems (darraghmac), Monday, 9 January 2012 14:11 (fourteen years ago)

At some point you're going to have to man up and admit that that money isn't actually there any more.

So where is it? If the club come out and said 'we are stockpiling the £150m left for the stadium repayments' then sure, but they say 'we have a warchest to buy players if we want to'. If it is neither, then something is fucked.

The scouting network at Arsenal really isn't what it used to be.

I dunno, in the past year we picked up a dude out of a japanese high school who excelled on loan and has fans salivating to see him play. I think it is more to do with other clubs catching up than Arsenal's and Utd's scouting networks getting shit.

unattractive on the g side (a hoy hoy), Monday, 9 January 2012 14:14 (fourteen years ago)

i've no idea who it wd be at Wolves, but I watched the Bolton game last week and my Dad assures me the performance at Birmingham was the same: we are pitiful. The guy's had over 4 seasons in charge and yet we're still devoid of shape, organisation, players able to control possession or dictate tempo for any length of time whatsoever. All 3 teams promoted this season have looked better managed than us, irrespective of where anybody ends up. we really are a void of anti-football right now, and yes it's easier to say who i don't want in charge than who i do, but i wd settle for anybody who valued some basic technique and invention above McCarthy's relentless, dour obsession with putting a fucking shift in.

Poppy Newgod and the Phantom Banned (Noodle Vague), Monday, 9 January 2012 14:16 (fourteen years ago)

enjoy that loanee's performance, meanwhile back at the ranch you're a two-men-who-break-easily team

carpy deems (darraghmac), Monday, 9 January 2012 14:20 (fourteen years ago)

wait who are you conceding to be the second man?

unattractive on the g side (a hoy hoy), Monday, 9 January 2012 14:25 (fourteen years ago)
