is he the weird goalie?

/hockey is the best

All goalies are weird. Even in these modern times of even-keeled mumbly goalies the calm is the serial-killer kind of calm.

also, congratulations to jarome iginla for scoring 500 career goals. You are basically doug gilmour.

Waxahachie Swap (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Sunday, 8 January 2012 16:38 (fourteen years ago)

wings/hawks tonight was wildin' -- hawks up by two in the first 10 minutes, wings fight back and survive a penalty shot to win in OT, best game I've seen all season

got free tix to rangers-coyotes (2-1 rangers in so) last night -- second row from the glass behind henrik wau.

a) no way henrik is 6'1", not that it matters because he is awesome (insert jmod migraine joek here)
b) rangers looked awfully good on defense and forecheck; not sure they have the scoring to hang with boston or philly in a long series, tho
c) current coyote (and former rangers/penguins) defenseman michal rozsival is terrible
d) penalty shot called in ot; pretty sweet save by (enormous) coyotes goalie mike smith
e) i hate the rangers, but it is really awesome that their fans still chant POTVIN SUCKS 24 years after he retired

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 January 2012 02:29 (fourteen years ago)

btw not sure if jmod's doug gilmour shout out is a joke or not?

but i don't remember too many players totally dominating a series the way dougie gilmour dominated the '93 campbell conference finals, even though his leafs lost to jimmy's kings.

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 January 2012 02:35 (fourteen years ago)

also hockey is the best

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 January 2012 02:39 (fourteen years ago)

I'm thinking of JI in '04, which was his best chance to win a Cup only to lose to the lightning under controversial circumstances. So, yeah, it was a joke but not 100% inaccurate imo

Waxahachie Swap (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 13 January 2012 10:44 (fourteen years ago)

I mean I'm not 100% homer to know that the leafs got jobbed in 93 but I also know that my team totally shat the bed after the stick, and after patrick roy cast some voodoo on the entire planet

Waxahachie Swap (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 13 January 2012 10:46 (fourteen years ago)

The two Wings-Hawks games in the past week have been some of the best non-playoff hockey I've seen in a long time, and not just because Detroit won both in OT. Amazing atmosphere and intensity from both sides.

2013 winter classic: maple leafs vs. red wings at the big house

Still holds the NHL record for most points in a postseason without making the final, I believe .

Tim Thomas:

"I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People.

This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level.

This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government.

Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL.

This is the only public statement I will be making on this topic. TT"

In the Bruins' 2011-12 media guide, Thomas, a Republican, cited conservative TV pundit Glenn Beck as the person he'd most like to have dinner with.

lol i can personally assure you that he's in the wrong city if he wants to be cheered for this nonsense

this is acceptable grounds for revoking the conn smythe, right?

Detrius "The-Dream" Nash (symsymsym), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 01:04 (fourteen years ago)

indeed, as rick santorum has suggested, boston is such a den of liberal iniquity that it can be blamed for priest molestation.

ricky doesn't know much about anything, though, let alone hockey

mookieproof, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 01:04 (fourteen years ago)

let's go red wings

mookieproof, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:17 (fourteen years ago)

is it just me or does nbc sports have more wings games than versus did

at any rate I'm really liking the change, the production is much better

long duk dan (dan m), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:18 (fourteen years ago)

Shouldn't that tell you are on the wrong side? xp

Nicole, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:19 (fourteen years ago)

i'm surprised there is any noticeable difference -- to my knowledge it was just a name change.

mookieproof, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:20 (fourteen years ago)

oh, i'd root for the wings over a lot of teams -- i love the way they play. but it's tough getting past the more personal struggles of 2008-2009.

mookieproof, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:23 (fourteen years ago)

kinda hated chris osgood tho

mookieproof, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:24 (fourteen years ago)

:O

Nicole, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:25 (fourteen years ago)

a) he was the beneficiary of fabulous team defense and not a particularly grebt goalie imo

b) dude would fall down as if shot when an opposing forward so much as looked at him. i can only imagine what it'd have been like if t. holmstrom were playing *against* him

mookieproof, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:31 (fourteen years ago)

otoh, he can't hear me because he has rings in his ears i guess

mookieproof, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:32 (fourteen years ago)

He was not the greatest goalie in the world but he just seems so innocuous, like hating a care bear.

Nicole, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:34 (fourteen years ago)

maybe if he'd skipped out on w in 2008

mookieproof, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:39 (fourteen years ago)

blues look like a pretty dangerous team -- if they didn't suck at shootouts they'd be atop the league.

they also seem to have a penchant for leaping face-first into the boards whenever someone breathes on them, but whatevs

mookieproof, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 17:11 (fourteen years ago)

zdeno chara was +7 today lol

according to the box score, one hit was delivered in the game
