HBO adaptation of Game of Thrones - will this be just for nerds? (NO SPOILERS PLEASE)

there's a fair amount of of sex in the books. the ridiculous scene with Littlefinger that you mentioned is completely fabricated for the show though, presumably to meet HBO's boob quota

I've just finished book two. It's probably the most violent thing I've ever read, of course I am completely hooked.

i've just started book 2. i'm not annoyed by the stylistic tics he mentions (yet?). i actually love daenerys and am disappointed to hear she wasn't well cast in the series. :(

i mean tbf page 120 in an asoiaf book is like page 25 in most books

k so googled rory mccann and his imdb page says he's 6'6" - had to google the guy playing gregor, and he's 7'1"! I just assumed the Lord of Flowers was slight...

i kind of don't remember but was renly & loras' relationship so, uh, graphic in the books?

r mccann i think is lucky, besides the imp i think he's probably the most interesting/dynamic of the adult characters

The Renly - Loras relationship is only very vaguely hinted at in the books. They don't even feature in them very much

ia, sandor clegane's a great character. i really like him in the series too.

He is one of my favorite characters in the books (and also so far in the series as well).

The actor who plays him has ruined Batman Begins for me, because I end up thinking Batman is an asshole for saving a child who is clearly pure evil.

Hating Joffrey is like an absolute condition already...like pregnancy, or death.

Reading Storm of Swords, Dany's arc is so fuckin bad-ass in this one so far.

I've been powering through the books over the last several months and am just about to wrap up Dance with Dragons, but I haven't seen the tv show yet. I asked for the blu-ray set for a birthday present, but my wife thinks I'm crazy for wanting to own it.

What do you think? Is it worth it? Does it have re-watchability?

I've watched the series 3 times through all the way through. The second time through clarified a lot of things (I totally missed that those were dragon skulls) and the third time was fun. Good rewatchability imo.

i think as far as the books v the tv show goes, i've discovered that having to see sansa's face while she goes through all this shit makes me not think she deserves it all quite so much

You think she deserves it?

Sansa's really sympathetic on the page once you get past Ned's death.

i thought she deserved it right up until the point where joffrey took her out on the wall to see her father's head (shit did that happen by this point in the tv series? i don't remember), and from that point on she is pretty much the only character i truly feel sorry for

everyone else in some way or other is capable of defending themselves (this makes me feel WORSE for her btw)
