akm, HSB is in Golden Gate Park where it's always been.
Funny that Messrs Raggett and adamrl will be here Friday since I will be in L.A.

― akm, Wednesday, 17 September 2008 16:17 (seventeen years ago)
HSB is awesome! Its free, its in the park, and there are always at least a handful of cool performers at any given time - Will Oldham and Ralph Stanley and Doc Watson, etc
― Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 17 September 2008 16:23 (seventeen years ago)
where in the park is it?
― gabbneb, Wednesday, 17 September 2008 16:26 (seventeen years ago)
It's the first time in GGP, right? I'm not sure the exact stage locations have been announced.
― Alex in SF, Wednesday, 17 September 2008 16:31 (seventeen years ago)
No, it's always in GGP.
I had dinner in LA next to RPlant and AKraus a few months ago and they said they are pretty excited about it.
― Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 17 September 2008 16:32 (seventeen years ago)

― Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 17 September 2008 16:34 (seventeen years ago)
lolz M White comes correct as usual. I will definitely be there this year with the wife and young'un in tow - hopefully to see Plant but we'll see how it shakes out. Seein Doc Watson and Earl Scruggs a few years ago was aces, unfortunately I caught a cold and had to miss Dolly Parton :(
― Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 17 September 2008 16:35 (seventeen years ago)
My gf does the travel for the Festival so I've gone for the last three or four years to at least a couple of shows. I usually prefer the Rooster stage but they spread the talent 'round really well.
― Michael White, Wednesday, 17 September 2008 16:53 (seventeen years ago)
Robert Plant/Alison Krauss set is on Friday?! fuck that shit
― Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 17 September 2008 19:09 (seventeen years ago)
Anyone looking for a place to dance to disco/italo/boogie music should stop by the Deco Lounge tonight. It's $5, but send me a message (at myspace.com/ferraripartiers) and i'll put you on the ILX guest list :)

I arrive in SF in a week, what will I do? Who will show me a good time!
― LUTE JOINTS (Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 17:10 (seventeen years ago)
i found Steve's advice to pack lunch and spend a day at Angel Island v well-taken. it was mostly brilliantly sunny on a day when much of the bay was fogged in and i found the 6 hour investment in doing the perimeter road (and what was open below it) and taking lots of pictures to be about right, if a lot more than i planned on, but ymmv.
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 17:28 (seventeen years ago)
twin peaks towards sunset was also awesome
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 17:31 (seventeen years ago)
Angel Island is pretty scorched right now, though.
― Lili des Bellons (Michael White), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 17:33 (seventeen years ago)
that was part of the awesome, actually. and less than 1/2 of what i encountered was fire-damaged.
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 17:36 (seventeen years ago)
Dear god Mr. Que and I will be in SF at the same time as JW.
― quincie, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 18:50 (seventeen years ago)
you should all go see the restoration of Lola Montes at the Castro.
― Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 18:52 (seventeen years ago)
Where to eat in North Beach?

― Alex in SF, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:03 (seventeen years ago)

― Mr. Que, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:03 (seventeen years ago)

― quincie, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:04 (seventeen years ago)

― gabbneb, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:09 (seventeen years ago)

― LUTE JOINTS (Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:11 (seventeen years ago)
I believe there is a cheap happy hour at Hog Island on Tuesdays, maybe? $1 oysters, yum.
― Alex in SF, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:11 (seventeen years ago)
hmmmm i don't think we rented a car but maybe we can work something out. it's open Wed-Fri
SF-88 is open for visiting from Wednesday to Friday of every week as well as the first Saturday of every month. Visiting hours are from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. The site is closed during wet weather for your safety. During the week, our site manager John leads periodic tours of the RADAR vans, the fueling area and the missile magazine. During the first Saturday of every month we have an open house with volunteers and Nike Veterans interpreting each of the areas on the base. We also have protection dog demonstrations during some open houses.
― Mr. Que, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:12 (seventeen years ago)
i drove past the missile base. the scenery around there - at pt bonita lighthouse and the viewpoints of the bridge along conzelman rd - are more interesting (to a gabbneb).
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:12 (seventeen years ago)
To a quincie, who is obsessed with all things nuclear, site itself is U&K.
Also: where to play pinball?
― quincie, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:15 (seventeen years ago)
My dad used to work in the Headlands (GGNRA) when I was a kid. I used to go to that place all the time but before it was restored.
― Lili des Bellons (Michael White), Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:16 (seventeen years ago)
*jealous*
― quincie, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:16 (seventeen years ago)
yeah guys where's the pinball besides that place in Alameda--Lucky JuJu or whatever?
― Mr. Que, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:16 (seventeen years ago)
also recommended: go down to ocean beach and walk up to the cliff house at the end of the day (and get inside or leave at sundown before the bugs come out).
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 11 November 2008 19:17 (seventeen years ago)
e-mail me at mwwhitesf at either ayhoo or mgail
