i am currently focused on an ep for around the end of december, will be making square album art for that in the next two weeks as well, it’s all due by 12/5/25 so it will get done lol

ep is called buckaroo and i think i may just make a real literal cowboy guy for it. but also considering a thing with tiny drawings in it showing them going from the mountain to the desert to the bottom of the ocean

it’s free to download/stream but i’m trying to raise money for Tent Mission STL (local mutual aid for houseless people) so i’d especially appreciate if anyone can pay anything for it at all.

for this thread, i’m not sure what i think about this cover, but i went into it comparing 4 totally different images and looking at them from across the room, as tiny little squares on the edge of my vision, to see what seemed to grab my attention. this is my attempt to simulate what it’s like to be bombarded by bullshit on a screen and to have your eye drawn toward something. bleak! but i went toward this one because it’s got a lot of symbols, cowboy hat, queer boots, red striding grateful dead guy, ghost heels, snapped toothpicks

on the first (red) side my thought was to do cool scraping stuff and leave little windows to see through and everything felt liquid and flat. but on this second side i did a thick layer of acrylic+gesso on the bottom and let it dry, to give it a solid ground and some texture. threw some toothpicks in there too!

also did a quick chalk/pastel version of something i made almost 40 years ago now :-o

sorry to cross post here, as this is 95% music-related, but also i ended up using that ballet drawing above for an album cover for one of my bands (see below). if anyone still clicks this thread and wants to show support for my art, checking out my music is a huge show of support, and unlike my paintings which are awkward to sell because they take me months to work on and there's only one of them, this is $1.23 and there are infinite digital copies (or $3.21 for one of the CDs). and if you like it, sharing my music with others who might like it is an even bigger show of support.

i'm really excited about a project i'm in called Makes a Difference. it's a duo with me and Jessee (the funs, glow in the dark flowers; chicago people and others may be familiar) and our debut release is out today!

i play in a few different projects around town, but this one is really special. Jessee really pushes me to make music in a way that i usually don't, and i think my playing and sensibilities lead them to new directions, too. the first song on here, 'angels without wings', is just...not at all what i would do if i were by myself. i love it. i love all these songs, to be honest. i'm really proud of it. we also have cds (they cost $3 + shipping).

the album cover is a drawing of a photo of a poster i made in kindergarten with ballet dancers - the drawing is on top, the photo is on the bottom it won a special "you're a little kid in southern missouri" award at an art competition. for some reason, though, i was heavily discouraged from my interesting in drawing little dancer men, in rural missouri, so the original photo stands out to me as a possible early artistic path i've found my way back to later in life.
