well then why were you comparing alves to bale? Alves is, regardless of what he actually does, a RB. But he can only play 'his' RB tactics because Abidal stays back. If they had both Alves and Bale playing those Alves fullback tactics at the same time, Barca would just be left with whoever Pep could be bothered playing centre half that day* in his own half. One half decent counter attacking team would have their job be so much easier if Bale was bought to play like a left-sided Alves.

*If he could be bothered to play anyone at all.

I'm not talking about Welsh superstar Gazza Bale going with a straight face, why the fuck would I with BAE? The only player at Spurs good enough for Barca* is Modric. And he'd be on the bench most of the time.
