btw wondering what the LD50 is for dark chocolate peanut butter cups

ASPIE Rocky (dayo), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 23:11 (fourteen years ago)

I have lost favorite suits to the moths; now engage in chemical mothball warfare. Hate the smell and wish I had a walk-in freezer for freezing all the clothes and foods.

I determined today that the vanilla Greek yogurt is probably my favorite yogurt ever.

patio hunter (get bent), Saturday, 12 November 2011 21:11 (fourteen years ago)

sunflower

they also have an olive oil potato chip, which is also outstanding & was actually the reason I was in the potato chip aisle when suddenly I was blindsided by this outstanding new chip

unlistenable in philly (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Saturday, 12 November 2011 21:13 (fourteen years ago)

i like sunflower. tj's sunflower seed butter is a revelation.

patio hunter (get bent), Saturday, 12 November 2011 21:14 (fourteen years ago)

have i mentioned here how much i love their pumpernickel pretzel sticks? i served them at a party recently and people were all "woah this is an exciting new development in pretzel technology."

patio hunter (get bent), Saturday, 12 November 2011 21:16 (fourteen years ago)

oh man those are the hotness, I burned out on 'em pretty bad when I first found out about them though. pumpernickel + a pretzel is basically a siren call to me.

unlistenable in philly (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Saturday, 12 November 2011 21:25 (fourteen years ago)

they have virgin coconut oil available now

also does anybody else, after coming home from TJ's, open immediately every single prepackaged item in order to have a taste

ASPIE Rocky (dayo), Sunday, 13 November 2011 16:23 (fourteen years ago)

Sometimes I start eating the dark chocolate mint squares on the train on the way home.

It means why you gotta be a montague? (Laurel), Sunday, 13 November 2011 16:23 (fourteen years ago)

I used to open all the packages until they became familiar.

one month passes...

The Classic Holiday Candy Mix, now on sale for 50 cents, is an unbelievable bargain.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 23:16 (fourteen years ago)

Also, the Balela chickpea salad is very good, if a bit oily.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 23:16 (fourteen years ago)

The eggnog-coated almonds are 99 cents now, another good deal.

nickn, Thursday, 5 January 2012 00:40 (fourteen years ago)

got scared when the packaging changed on the nature's path heritage flakes. still the same product though.

the nature's path flax flakes = not nearly as good.

nature's path heritage flakes

Jesus. I mean heritage flakes.

the Smurf who'll snatch your money (Je55e), Thursday, 5 January 2012 03:45 (fourteen years ago)

Does the package in the background say HEIRLOOM WHEAT??

the Smurf who'll snatch your money (Je55e), Thursday, 5 January 2012 03:46 (fourteen years ago)

AND "ANCIENT GRAINS"

All together, it's ridiculous enough to be kind of awesome.

the Smurf who'll snatch your money (Je55e), Thursday, 5 January 2012 03:46 (fourteen years ago)

yeah the marketing is a little silly but the product tastes good and it's not loaded with sugar

reconstituted pork offal slurry (get bent), Thursday, 5 January 2012 03:55 (fourteen years ago)

The best of the 'natural' cereals sold there imo is Barbara's Shredded Spoonful's -- created in the same evil laboratory that brought you Life

Oh shit, that's my bone! (Hurting 2), Thursday, 5 January 2012 04:02 (fourteen years ago)

Oh I'm sure. I love that kind of thing, just saying it was pretty extreme granolery. xp

the Smurf who'll snatch your money (Je55e), Thursday, 5 January 2012 04:04 (fourteen years ago)

i think i tried that, hurting, but i've never really gotten into shredded wheat. too much work for cereal.

reconstituted pork offal slurry (get bent), Thursday, 5 January 2012 04:07 (fourteen years ago)

Their low sugar flake cereal is good too, but it took a while to get used to. Can't remember the name but it's obvious from the packaging.

nickn, Thursday, 5 January 2012 05:51 (fourteen years ago)

i'm a stan for tj's toasted oatmeal flakes. my wife likes the honey almond & flax 9 whole grain cereal. and our son wolfs down the euro-style yogurt.

I'm pretty fond of the cheap beer at TJ's. right now I think my favorite is the jumping cow amber ale, it's light and fruity without being sweet. and I like the stockyard oatmeal stout too.

dayo, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 01:56 (fourteen years ago)

The Trader Joe's 2011 Vintage Ale is really excellent this year. It's from Unibroue and is very similar to their Maudite or Trois Pistoles but much cheaper.

Spencer Chow, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 02:01 (fourteen years ago)

shit, really? I need to see if we get that here. I suspect we don't get most of their beer selection, for some reason

mh, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 02:02 (fourteen years ago)

The eggnog almonds are great at first but I find I cant eat more than 4 in a sitting or I get a little queasy.

calstars, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 02:07 (fourteen years ago)

you not alone in that! but eggnog almonds are cheaper than regular almonds (!)
what other TJ foods are cheaper with a coating of some sort?

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 02:11 (fourteen years ago)

They're cheaper because they're "out of season" and they want to dump them. They sold for $4.99 before Xmas/New Years, I was told.

And junk food that's hard to eat a lot of is the best kind, IMO.

nickn, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 02:26 (fourteen years ago)

i'm this way with dark chocolate -- it's so satisfying in small doses that i never want/need to go overboard with it.

m white btw (get bent), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 04:39 (fourteen years ago)

And i stopped in on the way home today, and both the eggnog almonds and TJ vintage ale is not stocked anymore. The holidays are over. ;_;

nickn, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 04:47 (fourteen years ago)

RIP puff pastry too ;_;

La Lechera, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 05:03 (fourteen years ago)

joejoes ice cream should be $2 still...

enjoy w/a bit of jam or lemon curd. not at the level of danish pancakes you might find at, say, broder in portland or elsewhere, but imo these are excellent.

omar little, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 08:47 (fourteen years ago)

i'm soaking a bag of their 17 bean and barley mix for tonight. anyone tried it?
