(suarez)

hoilett is out of contract in the summer

Nigel Farage is a fucking hero (nakhchivan), Sunday, 6 November 2011 21:32 (fourteen years ago)

Adam seems incapable of functioning in a 4-4-2, Downing's faded, Henderson's best moments have come when he's played CM, Carroll ??? Poor Kuyt and Maxi can't get a look in. Maxi's unhappy and looking to leave in January, so I hear.

CL teams will surely come sniffing for Suarez?

Chris, Sunday, 6 November 2011 21:36 (fourteen years ago)

He wasn't an unknown quantity before Liverpool came in for him, though, so no reason why they should be jumping for him now. That's what I'm telling myself. Pool do need to make a step up though before he gets the idea that he's carrying the team.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 6 November 2011 21:44 (fourteen years ago)

Some excellent finishing from Bolton today

Number None, Sunday, 6 November 2011 22:11 (fourteen years ago)

is Bale actually getting credit for that goal??

it looked like it'd've hit the corner flag

We All Had Guess Papers (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 6 November 2011 22:22 (fourteen years ago)

I reckon Liverpool are more likely to try and make a couple more big signings than they are to sell Suarez, which would be like admitting defeat pretty early on. Don't see any reason why they should panicking just yet - there's loads of quality in that squad and Suarez, Kuyt and Bellamy should be good for enough goals even if Carroll never makes it.

I wonder whether Dalglish has just been away from the game for too long, he doesn't seem to have got them to gel at all yet. And he's been making some bizarre decisions - selling Mereiles, signing Bellamy and barely playing him, leaving Kuyt on the sidelines. I still think they'll have a reasonable season but I can see them slipping below Arsenal pretty soon and staying there.

Matt DC, Sunday, 6 November 2011 22:23 (fourteen years ago)

God I don't need to hear Grygera screaming again...

Matt DC, Sunday, 6 November 2011 22:24 (fourteen years ago)

Bellamy was obviously signed as a backup tho

Number None, Sunday, 6 November 2011 22:25 (fourteen years ago)

Is he really so past-it? I know he's 32 now but he was pretty lethal before he fell out with Man City.

Matt DC, Sunday, 6 November 2011 22:26 (fourteen years ago)

I don't think he exactly set the Championship alight last year, but you're hardly going to play him ahead of your 35m striker and phalanx of central midfielders anyway are you?

Number None, Sunday, 6 November 2011 22:29 (fourteen years ago)

Bellamy is probably there as an impact sub - I'd say he should be starting but I have no idea what his physical condition is. Kuyt should play every game in full - he has the odd shocker but otherwise he can do everything and doesn't let you down. Lucas too, without the shockers. Adam has exceeded my expectations but he's slow and this is why I think he only works in a five. Maxi's just too slow. Selling Meireles was stupid. Downing I thought was great but reading about his lack of end product has got me concerned. Henderson I never notice.

The thing is though, Suarez is far too good for them. You can easily make up a serviceable front six from that lot plus Gerrard and Johnson, but if it's going to compete it's because he's carrying it.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 6 November 2011 22:39 (fourteen years ago)

apols if this was already noted in the wasteland of 'load all messages' but there has been some insanely good goalkeeping in the Prem this weekend

We All Had Guess Papers (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 6 November 2011 23:09 (fourteen years ago)

al habsi was incredible, wasn't he

Suarez flatters to deceive, i'm starting to think. If Carroll starts firing, and i've faith he will, and they can gel, that's a classic partnership- but i dunno that suarez isn't to wasteful if there's not a scrapper in the box to finish for him. Kuyt if not carroll.

blind pele (darraghmac), Sunday, 6 November 2011 23:43 (fourteen years ago)

lol at motd2 highlighting modric's display today, his worst performance in a year or more imo.

Walker was bloody good. Getting kinda sick of matt's patient approach paying dividends itt.

Tho, tbf, it was no surprise that a jol team outplays & outshoots you but ends up losing- and satisfied with it.

blind pele (darraghmac), Sunday, 6 November 2011 23:46 (fourteen years ago)

BAE's looking good isn't he?

Chris, Sunday, 6 November 2011 23:49 (fourteen years ago)

ha yeah, that's an input into the 'patient matt' comment, but he's been great all season, i'd say there's only enrique and maybe baines to touch him from what i've seen.

blind pele (darraghmac), Monday, 7 November 2011 00:21 (fourteen years ago)

Good Spurs first half

very poor second half or Fulham were somehow very good

they should have had a pen but so should we

late goal flattered Tottenham

I don't dislike Liverpool, I quite like them in various ways, but I do enjoy it when the big-spending scousers draw at home with newly promoted teams.

the pinefox, Monday, 7 November 2011 14:18 (fourteen years ago)

het someone post this to a relevant thread so i can avoid work pls, can't type it out on a phone tbh. (darraghmac)

good man good man

Anyway, plenty of english talent there going on the evidence, no?

blind pele (darraghmac), Monday, 7 November 2011 16:24 (fourteen years ago)

Dzeko is a flat track bully imo

Bond 23: Skyrim (Noodle Vague), Monday, 7 November 2011 16:25 (fourteen years ago)

just as well there are an awful lot of flat tracks in the epl then.

pandemic, Monday, 7 November 2011 16:26 (fourteen years ago)

btw, had defoe's goal not taken a deflection it would have been a real beaut

blind pele (darraghmac), Monday, 7 November 2011 16:27 (fourteen years ago)

xp

well yeah but y'know he'll score a couple against some dross that's already 3 down, he seems dead wasteful when it matters

Bond 23: Skyrim (Noodle Vague), Monday, 7 November 2011 16:27 (fourteen years ago)

gtfo flat track dzeko, how many of those goals were against top five teams

blind pele (darraghmac), Monday, 7 November 2011 16:30 (fourteen years ago)

Surprising to me that Balotelli's managed 5 goals and no assists, he doesn't strike me as selfish when he's on the pitch, small sample size I guess.

boxall, Monday, 7 November 2011 16:32 (fourteen years ago)

ht trick against spurs, 2 against utd. hasn't played chelsea, newcastle, arsenal yet

pandemic, Monday, 7 November 2011 16:33 (fourteen years ago)

actually 4 vs spurs, but that was way back when spurs weren't a top 4 team.

pandemic, Monday, 7 November 2011 16:34 (fourteen years ago)

2 vs united after they hit the self destruct button (and both were tap-ins??)

Gary Numan, or Gary Fletcher (ken c), Monday, 7 November 2011 17:28 (fourteen years ago)

lol at this analysis, goals is goals rooney scores 8 vs bolton every year

blind pele (darraghmac), Monday, 7 November 2011 17:33 (fourteen years ago)

I expect Dzeko will be more highly thought of if he can get Bosnia-Herz into the Euros on Friday, glad he and Pjanic both seem to be in good form.

boxall, Monday, 7 November 2011 17:37 (fourteen years ago)

pjanic made a lovely assist for bojan's goal at the weekend

pandemic, Monday, 7 November 2011 17:45 (fourteen years ago)

i'd gladly have someone at LFC to score tap ins tbh

pandemic, Monday, 7 November 2011 17:46 (fourteen years ago)

gonna have to pay more than 58m the pair for that

blind pele (darraghmac), Monday, 7 November 2011 17:52 (fourteen years ago)

apparently so

pandemic, Monday, 7 November 2011 17:54 (fourteen years ago)

y'all can have chamakh if you want. supposedly its all he is there for and he was very good at it (for five games at the start of last season.)

GOIT BUZZ TOYS (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 02:33 (fourteen years ago)

"The FA will have to clear it up with him, because there is no proof at all that I have said anything racist," said Suárez. "I didn't say anything like that to him.

"There are things that happen in football, all in the moment, that leaves one feeling bad. Now we have to wait to see this issue decided and then the Manchester player and I will have to clear things up. Depending on who ends up in the wrong, one of us will have to apologise.

"There were two sides of our discussion, one in Spanish and one in English. I didn't insult him, it was just my way of expressing myself. I called him something that his own Manchester United players call him. Furthermore, even they were surprised at his reaction on the pitch."

What do they call him? I must know

Number None, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 10:31 (fourteen years ago)

Patty

the pinefox, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 10:50 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, kinda the crux of it

blind pele (darraghmac), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 10:50 (fourteen years ago)

Hope we all sign this: https://submissions.epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/14605

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 10:57 (fourteen years ago)

Deems while I really like both fullbacks we have now I was basically screaming at them to stop bombing forward for the last 10-15mins or so. There's a place for swashbuckling adventure and that's not when you're defending a 2-1 lead against a team that's had you on the rack for the last half hour.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 12:07 (fourteen years ago)

well, looking at parker's discipline i think that width and speed on the counter can still add a lot to our play too. It'll gain us more than it costs as long as we use the ball well, and both fullbacks are good with delivery.

Feel that countering through the centre has been weak the past few games, otoh-qpr aside. Newcastle in particular saw parker and vdv waste a lot of opportunity before we conceded late.

Good to have the capacity to play it either way tho, i spose

blind pele (darraghmac), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 13:43 (fourteen years ago)

Oh yeah totally, but when you're holding onto a lead that slender and seemingly fragile you don't really want them to start exploiting the space behind a fullback.

Seems a weird thing to say now Lennon's playing his way back into form but I wonder how Walker->Pienaar on the right would play out.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 13:47 (fourteen years ago)

lennon on the left, bale out!

blind pele (darraghmac), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 13:51 (fourteen years ago)

Looks like Levy will be joining 'arry in the slammer.

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 14:43 (fourteen years ago)

I like Suarez having the balls to at least say he said something cunty, if not racist to Evra. It shows a bit of backbone compared to EBJT's 'who me?'

GOIT BUZZ TOYS (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 23:44 (fourteen years ago)

I like Suarez having the balls to at least say he said something cunty

He hasn't done that, has he? "I didn't insult him, it was just my way of expressing myself. I called him something that his own Manchester United players call him."

Mister Potato shares Manchester United’s commitment to (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Wednesday, 9 November 2011 07:00 (fourteen years ago)

Is it possible that Man U's other black players use n-with-an-a and Suarez is pulling that "they call each other n__ so why can't white people do it?" shite?

a guy called Gerard (onimo), Wednesday, 9 November 2011 12:06 (fourteen years ago)

no, i really can't see that tbh.

Tevez lol

blind pele (darraghmac), Wednesday, 9 November 2011 12:24 (fourteen years ago)

it's just a misunderstanding
