um, did Logan and his blond surfer buddy give each other the "two in the pink, one in the stink" hand signal by the poolside when discussing what Logan is doing that night?

alex in montreal (alex in montreal), Friday, 30 September 2005 00:57 (eighteen years ago) link

SPOILER ALERT

logan being/hanging around the bus before it left the school is probably a little to obvious.

i dunno, why would he kill his friends and if they were in on it, why would blond surfer dude invite duncan and veronica?

alex in montreal (alex in montreal), Friday, 30 September 2005 01:16 (eighteen years ago) link

There's a 'two in the pink, one in the stink' hand signal? Wouldn't that be ridiculously complicated? Is he double-jointed?

I would have to think Steve Guttenberg and that baseball player who was angry with him are going to be involved in some way. Perhaps the ballplayer wanted to take out Mr. Police Academy's daughter?

The Yellow Kid, Friday, 30 September 2005 03:46 (eighteen years ago) link

was that an elbow song, at the end?

OK start but I still fucking hate the duncan thing and the logan thing it is a bit boring!

"twists" about who her boyfriend is were rubbish. not at all...a surprise just an...OK.

I still like her dad. I hope their lawyer pal comes back

weevil should still get a smaller jacket

guttenberg seems to have lost almost all of whatever acting ability he had, based on his very short appearance, here, but maybe it's just his face, that is the problem. weird teeth, too

RJG (RJG), Friday, 30 September 2005 16:00 (eighteen years ago) link

Good show.

jeffrey (johnson), Friday, 30 September 2005 17:53 (eighteen years ago) link

guttenberg's face was an old, melted candle emulating a mountain

I'm not sure that it was an elbow song, but it wasn't very good; I like one elbow song

the duncan thing logan thing I can forgive though, it's the non-xander

weevil looked cool in the closing scenes, like someone had photoshopped his living head

all in all, I agree with rich, but raise to an interesting start, which effortlessly side-steps a lot of the concerns I had coming to the end of the first season by introducing a lot of new concerns of its own

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 30 September 2005 19:34 (eighteen years ago) link

no!

I meant embrace, sorry

RJG (RJG), Friday, 30 September 2005 19:41 (eighteen years ago) link

So much better than Lost! Don't tell Beth Parker.

Leeeeeeeee (Leee), Monday, 3 October 2005 21:45 (eighteen years ago) link

I can't wait for Wednesday.

I can't wait for Wednesday.

jeffrey (johnson), Monday, 3 October 2005 23:05 (eighteen years ago) link

It's become harder to take Veronica as a high-school student since I found out she's older than I am.

But yeah, still way way better than Lost.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 02:58 (eighteen years ago) link

Ooh! Tonight!

Melissa W (Melissa W), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 08:44 (eighteen years ago) link

*bump*

Melissa W (Melissa W), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 19:49 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't think anyone who likes VM has forgotten about this thread for about 12 hours.

Leeeeeeeee (Leee), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 20:25 (eighteen years ago) link

uh being in the UK and generally pretty forgetful I actually find it useful when melissa revives this thread but maybe that's just me... the same goes for when the curb thread is revived on the monday

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 20:29 (eighteen years ago) link

Have any of America's Other Top Models made UPN cameos (the now-dead teacher in this was S4's winner)?

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 20:33 (eighteen years ago) link

i like revivals.

jeffrey (johnson), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 23:27 (eighteen years ago) link

Eva was on one of the "ethnic" sitcoms.

Can I say whoever monkeyed with the bus, I hate you? You killed Naima!

Leeeeeeeee (Leee), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 23:59 (eighteen years ago) link

You people disappoint.

The ep was a little uneven, but that was made up by a lot of moments of awesomeness.

Duncan/Teddy Dunn needs to get the hell off of my television screen, though.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 6 October 2005 05:11 (eighteen years ago) link

Steve Guttenberg is painfull to watch.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Thursday, 6 October 2005 14:17 (eighteen years ago) link

I bet it was the Beave who sabotaged the bus~

Leeeeeeeeee (Leee), Monday, 10 October 2005 00:19 (eighteen years ago) link

guttenberg is killing me but kevin smith's turn in this was actually pretty good ("and then I read something online...")

I thought this ep was great - it's going to be hard for the second series to be as jaw-droppingly great as the first, given that it was new back then but it's really working on it

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 10 October 2005 18:38 (eighteen years ago) link

See what happens when I don't bump the thread?

Tonight's was a lot better than last week.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 13 October 2005 03:32 (eighteen years ago) link

It seems more action-packed this season, with a lot more of plot twists. Since they don't need as many scenes to establish stuff like Veronica's relationship with her dad, the episodes (in particular this one) have been very well-paced. The best part is that a lot of dynamics are gonna shift drastically, like blonde surfer dude totally hating on Veronica for bringing down her dad, his best friend for doing his dad's wife and his brother for being such a spineless rat.

They've also separated the Casablancas storyline and the bus crash one (by seemingly directing it towards Aaron Echolls), at least momentarily. In fact, there hasn't been as many standalones. As a result, there are a lot of different storylines being advanced each episode, probably all towards one single denouement.

alex in montreal (alex in montreal), Thursday, 13 October 2005 23:29 (eighteen years ago) link

I watched my first episode last night...this show is good. I wish I would've been on the bandwagon sooner!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 14 October 2005 00:01 (eighteen years ago) link

still love this show. I think the second season is doing a good job so far, I wasn't sure how it would play out. I havent watched the episode from last night yet though!!! I think I might go buy the first season dvd this weekend.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Friday, 14 October 2005 00:24 (eighteen years ago) link

That was great, definitely the best episode I've seen thus far for pacing, dialogue and foreshadowing.

Are You Nomar? (miloaukerman), Friday, 14 October 2005 03:47 (eighteen years ago) link

i think they've hit their stride with a "formula" that kicks in some sort of resolution to a dangling plot issue some point mid-episode, but in a surprising way, then works its way up to a big cliffhanger at the end of each, so that it keeps feeding the "what next" addiction.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Friday, 14 October 2005 03:54 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm surprised no one mentioned Courtney Taylor-Taylor's appearance, which is worth it just for Upstaged Karaoke Guy's and his girlfriend's reactions.

alex in montreal (alex in montreal), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:03 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't see what happened when you didn't bump the thread. It gets revived a couple days late?

Leeeeeeeeee (Leee), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:09 (eighteen years ago) link

But whatever, don't mean to be a ho. Sorry.

I like this show! I make sure to watch it after Lost so as to end my TV night on a guaranteed high note.

Leeeeeeeeee (Leee), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:14 (eighteen years ago) link

was a GREAT episode

but was that the dandy warhols guy, lip sinking?

poor old beaver and his sad-face

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:42 (eighteen years ago) link

The Music of Veronica Mars says yes! Except that he wasn't lip syncing, I don't think!

Was VM this indie last season?

Leeeeeeeeee (Leee), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:51 (eighteen years ago) link

OH I didn't think he was lip syncing

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:52 (eighteen years ago) link

Wait, why was there like 5 minutes of random karaoke in the middle of the show this week? Just because they can get a guy from the Dandy Warhols?

The Yellow Kid, Friday, 14 October 2005 17:53 (eighteen years ago) link

yeah I dunno

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:53 (eighteen years ago) link

Buffy did that on occasion. I guess it helps pay the bills or something.

Is it just me or is the new girl from New York an atrocious actress? That's the one element that gets to me sometimes - the unmistakable air of low-budget TVdom, complete with F-list actors (Harry Hamlin, teh Guttenberg) and tiny locations. They would have been better off casting at least the latter to a complete unknown (I haven't watched my first season DVDs, maybe Hamlin's awesome). At least they don't have to skimp on monster costumes (ala Buffy on UPN).

Are You Nomar? (miloaukerman), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:57 (eighteen years ago) link

I somehow taped abc family all morning. So instead of getting to watch Veronica Mars I was faced with instead, HOURS OF FULL HOUSE. So I am downloading the episode right now and have to wait forever again.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:58 (eighteen years ago) link

totally worth it!!

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:59 (eighteen years ago) link

i am excited abt watching it tonight.

jeffrey (johnson), Friday, 14 October 2005 18:27 (eighteen years ago) link

maybe Hamlin's awesome

Strangely, he totally is.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Saturday, 15 October 2005 06:28 (eighteen years ago) link

ok, I agree, this episode was great. I like that he isn't hitting us in the head with what the main mystery is this year. There are kind of a lot of things going on, and it's making for a nice transition. Some great moments from this episode: that veronica LOVES unicorns, when duncan and logan have the talk after their fight. I just love logan's angst, still.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Saturday, 15 October 2005 15:42 (eighteen years ago) link

i was right to be excited.

jeffrey (johnson), Saturday, 15 October 2005 17:21 (eighteen years ago) link

good but ruined, in a way, by the dandy warhols guy

what a mistake

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 16 October 2005 23:02 (eighteen years ago) link

sorry.

jeffrey (johnson), Sunday, 16 October 2005 23:07 (eighteen years ago) link

I downloaded the first season and watched it all this week and now I'm hooked and can't wait to get up to speed on the new season. What a great show.
