yeah i did a nazi salute gag at the time but i didn't really think he was doing it

Agyness Dei (Noodle Vague), Monday, 31 October 2011 09:59 (fourteen years ago)

Me too. It's quite bizarre he has to apologise/"explain himself" for this

Y Kant Lou Reed (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 31 October 2011 10:00 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, i posted about it during the match. Can't help feeling in some way responsible

Number None, Monday, 31 October 2011 10:03 (fourteen years ago)

Wait so that song I heard on Saturday wasn't the Arsenal fans singing "there's only one Nazi rapist"? Disappointing.

Matt DC, Monday, 31 October 2011 10:28 (fourteen years ago)

So, considering Chelsea were drawing at the time, did the famously reformed gambler and brave English lion John Terry really slip over or is he now fixing matches to help him pay off his mother's £4mn mortgage?

James Mitchell, Monday, 31 October 2011 10:43 (fourteen years ago)

on his money Terry's finances must be firmly in the blind

Agyness Dei (Noodle Vague), Monday, 31 October 2011 10:55 (fourteen years ago)

"It has been brought to my attention of some ridiculous allegations concerning my celebration of one of my goals yesterday," Van Persie said on Twitter late Sunday.

"It is totally ludicrous to suggest that my action of brushing my shoulder and pointing to my fans could be construed as anything else but of a showing of joy and celebration.

"To suggest this meant anything to the contrary is insulting and absolutely absurd as nothing else came into my mind."

disappointed that he bothered to reply to this drivel

if he had claimed it was a john terry ref that would have been great tho

Nigel Farage is a fucking hero (nakhchivan), Monday, 31 October 2011 11:55 (fourteen years ago)

u can tell rvp wants to be liked tho.....always eager in interviews, giving champagne to his teammates, giving away his shirt and bowing to the crowd on saturday

Nigel Farage is a fucking hero (nakhchivan), Monday, 31 October 2011 11:55 (fourteen years ago)

Hitler wanted to be liked too

u can tell rvp wants to be liked tho.....always eager in interviews, giving champagne to his teammates, giving away his brown shirt and bowing to the crowd rally on saturday

R. Stornoway (Tom D.), Monday, 31 October 2011 12:10 (fourteen years ago)

Must be a racist, John Terry kisses the ground he walks on.

James Mitchell, Monday, 31 October 2011 12:12 (fourteen years ago)

no way is RvP a blindshirt

Agyness Dei (Noodle Vague), Monday, 31 October 2011 12:12 (fourteen years ago)

"It is totally ludicrous to suggest that my action of brushing my shoulder and pointing to my fans could be construed as anything else but of a showing of joy and celebration.

that's not really denying it though??

Gary Numan, or Gary Fletcher (ken c), Monday, 31 October 2011 13:21 (fourteen years ago)

Is RVP a muslim? I thought that was why he gave away the champagne? I'm probably wrong tho.

pandemic, Monday, 31 October 2011 13:21 (fourteen years ago)

His wife is. Not sure he's religious.

Mohombi Khush Hua (ShariVari), Monday, 31 October 2011 13:25 (fourteen years ago)

"It's not true. I am not a Muslim, nor a Christian or a Jew. I have been raised liberally. If you want to become a Muslim it should come from the heart. I would not do it just to please my wife. To believe for me is a quest for being a good man."

Number None, Monday, 31 October 2011 13:27 (fourteen years ago)

idg how brushing your shoulder ends up with your arm extended in what looks very much like a nazi salute

a guy called Gerard (onimo), Monday, 31 October 2011 13:31 (fourteen years ago)

oh christ pls dont let's do this

Nigel Farage is a fucking hero (nakhchivan), Monday, 31 October 2011 13:32 (fourteen years ago)

this is now the lead story in the daily mail oy vey

Nigel Farage is a fucking hero (nakhchivan), Monday, 31 October 2011 13:36 (fourteen years ago)

Well if anyone would know about Nazis it would the Daily Mail

R. Stornoway (Tom D.), Monday, 31 October 2011 14:53 (fourteen years ago)

Yes, they often brushed dust off their shoulders in the 1930s.

a guy called Gerard (onimo), Monday, 31 October 2011 15:02 (fourteen years ago)

those crazy nazi dutch

interim dn (darraghmac), Monday, 31 October 2011 15:24 (fourteen years ago)

Yes, you'd never see Geert Wilders brushing dust off his shoulder

R. Stornoway (Tom D.), Monday, 31 October 2011 15:38 (fourteen years ago)

wilders is a troublemaker but he isn't remotely a nazi

Nigel Farage is a fucking hero (nakhchivan), Monday, 31 October 2011 18:27 (fourteen years ago)

Oh he's a nazi alright, he just replaced jews with muslims tbh

Y Kant Lou Reed (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 31 October 2011 19:31 (fourteen years ago)

who does g.neville's research for his monday night tactics breakdowns?

he's kinda charmless w/an annoying voice but he's actually not bad on tactics

cozen, Monday, 31 October 2011 19:34 (fourteen years ago)

neville is perturbingly otm on occasion

tbf to Geert Wilders, you can be a racist hatemonger without being a Nazi

Agyness Dei (Noodle Vague), Monday, 31 October 2011 19:35 (fourteen years ago)

neville is....good, i think most agree

the jew/muslim substitution isn't capable of being made, the former being far more ethno- than religious from a nazi pov

it's bad rhetoric to call people nazis unless they are nazis

or john terry

Yeah I know, I was trolling. Racist he most definitely is.

Y Kant Lou Reed (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 31 October 2011 19:43 (fourteen years ago)

the whole 'let the fa take their time' thing nult is saying is a load of mendacious shite, pretty much an invitation to whitewash

the fa desparately waiting for the news cycle to pass but at least anton ferdinand seems pretty clear now....

You have to wonder what there is to investigate. They have the video, they can talk to the dozen or so people who were within earshot in a matter of days, i'd have thought.

Mohombi Khush Hua (ShariVari), Monday, 31 October 2011 19:57 (fourteen years ago)

getting them to agree on the story is the hard part tbh

totally xp

Nigel Farage is a fucking hero (nakhchivan), Monday, 31 October 2011 20:01 (fourteen years ago)

I didn't see Neville's analysis, what was he talking about?

Chris, Monday, 31 October 2011 20:05 (fourteen years ago)

caught a touch of him pointing out that rooney's moved up into midfield, unconvincing

occupy wall street 2: rummy never sleeps (darraghmac), Monday, 31 October 2011 20:07 (fourteen years ago)

wayne rooney is a united legend tho

Nigel Farage is a fucking hero (nakhchivan), Monday, 31 October 2011 20:11 (fourteen years ago)

(Obertan cross, nice backward-leaning header from Ba, Newcastle 1-0)

boxall, Monday, 31 October 2011 20:13 (fourteen years ago)

Shawcross off injured inside 20', possibly after a challenge with supposed ticking time bomb Ba - really enjoying this match.

boxall, Monday, 31 October 2011 20:19 (fourteen years ago)

university challenge is p good tonight tbh

occupy wall street 2: rummy never sleeps (darraghmac), Monday, 31 October 2011 20:21 (fourteen years ago)

Rooney did play in midfield on the weekend.

Number None, Monday, 31 October 2011 20:22 (fourteen years ago)

Norwich fan? How did I miss this?! You've been among ILF's top transfer targets for a while now.

Heh, yeah, I kind of just lurk on the football threads, and ILE in general. I'm mostly just on ILG. Also, these football threads move too fast for me; miss a weekend and there's hundreds more posts! Have to admit, I didn't even know there was a board for the football, as I don't normally scroll down the boards list that far. Anyway.

I reckon Norwich will be near the top of the bottom half by Christmas, and testing my loyalty by the end of the season, but I'm enjoying it while we're on-track for the 40+ points target for relegation safety. After watching how quickly the big boys can turn a season around (Arsenal this year, Liverpool to a degree last year) when it's this tight, I feel like we're always going to balancing on the edge of a dramatic fall from grace.

Newcastle Stoke game kinda boring so far. Reckon Newcastle will hold the win now though. Demba Ba just won't stop scoring, eh?

CraigG, Monday, 31 October 2011 20:39 (fourteen years ago)

pulis rejected ba saying his injury record was a timebomb or something

Nigel Farage is a fucking hero (nakhchivan), Monday, 31 October 2011 20:41 (fourteen years ago)

ffs can we get back to spurs pls

occupy wall street 2: rummy never sleeps (darraghmac), Monday, 31 October 2011 20:41 (fourteen years ago)

Good to have you on board, Craig. I appreciate that it takes time to get acclimatised but we're looking for you to push on now and post day-in-day-out. And no need to worry about keeping up, obv, mostly it's just a big mancrush on John Terry.

Serious question though: how has Lambert managed to put together a crack outfit basically from park players?

Ismael Klata, Monday, 31 October 2011 20:51 (fourteen years ago)

because coaching is easy while they still want it cf ipswich hull etc

occupy wall street 2: rummy never sleeps (darraghmac), Monday, 31 October 2011 20:54 (fourteen years ago)

I just assumed he (or at least his scouting staff) plays far too much Football Manager, and therefor know all these random cheap dudes from Brighton and Hove, with flagging careers, that somehow are up to scratch.

CraigG, Monday, 31 October 2011 21:02 (fourteen years ago)

nah fm coaches have a history of sucking (hey sven).

a hoy hoy, Monday, 31 October 2011 21:17 (fourteen years ago)

i am thinking of doing a 'best player to watch in the league rite now' poll of ten players. ba, silva, rvi, aguero, supermario, mata, suarez and....? all about current form, so is modric worth including? cabaye maybe? gervinho? some utd dullard i guess? j beezy?

a hoy hoy, Monday, 31 October 2011 21:20 (fourteen years ago)

You forgot Sturridge.
