tehresa, Wednesday, 26 October 2011 22:52 (fourteen years ago)

I actually thought the tuna curry was kinda gross, but whatev.

Were you eating it cold right out of the pouch with your bare hands while sitting in a dark room alone and crying? Because you should really heat those tuna things up first.

No, but I think I was eating it as-is, with no accompaniment.

So! I am happy to report that I bought it again and prepared some couscous and sauteed some fucking mushrooms and broccoli, and I had a really easy and tasty meal of which I'm now eating the leftovers.

It's good on the lemon-pepper pappardelle pasta they sell. Or on rice, of course.

nickn, Friday, 28 October 2011 20:22 (fourteen years ago)

ooh i love that stuff but it's so much pricier than the other pastas i can't justify buying it.

tehresa, Friday, 28 October 2011 22:06 (fourteen years ago)

Their frigging vanilla & cinnamon black tea is BACK. It has a confused lemur on it and it's my very favorite. I think drinking it all day was the only thing that got me through six weeks of training at a call center this time last year. Then I discovered it was seasonal and my job was once again a pit of despair. How long do you guys think tea stays good/drinkable if you don't open it because my Mormon food-hoarding instincts are at five alarms.

i obviously don't know how to store tea properly (lol american) because all the tea i've hoarded is now over-tannic and bitter.

enchilada sauce (get bent), Saturday, 5 November 2011 23:52 (fourteen years ago)

Oh! I love that tea! It's delicious and every time i take the box out of the cupboard I'm like, "Heh. Lemur." I was just shopping at TJ's today and I didn't think to see whether it was back. That's okay because I forgot tofu and Brussels sprouts so now I have another reason to take a return trip tomorrow.

As I was buying both browning mix and pumpkin bread mix, the cashier clued me in to this recipe: http://www.traderjoes.com/recipes/recipe.asp?rid=91 (spoiler alert: you mix them together!!!)

abbbottt, oxidation is the enemy - vacuum seal! or use a straw and a ziplock bag. or freeze?

ASPIE Rocky (dayo), Sunday, 6 November 2011 00:52 (fourteen years ago)

My freezer is full of yarn and green chile – two of my already favorite things – so adding a third favorite thing sounds AWESOme.

despite all my rage I am still just a Latter Day Saint (Abbbottt), Sunday, 6 November 2011 00:52 (fourteen years ago)

haha I have an image of you opening your freezer in a year to find a spicy sweater that you can dip into hot water to make tea with.

ASPIE Rocky (dayo), Sunday, 6 November 2011 00:54 (fourteen years ago)

now i want a green chile sweater. :-(

enchilada sauce (get bent), Sunday, 6 November 2011 00:56 (fourteen years ago)

Yasmine Teeth (La Lechera), Sunday, 6 November 2011 20:23 (fourteen years ago)

sarahel, Sunday, 6 November 2011 20:27 (fourteen years ago)

ASPIE Rocky (dayo), Sunday, 6 November 2011 21:15 (fourteen years ago)

pumpkin bread/muffin mix is good

tj's produce is inconsistent; bought a bag of "rainbow plums" last week and they refuse to ripen - taste like little wooden plum-shaped sculptures

My local just ran out of both the green and red. Not looking good, either, as they took down the shelf tags and filled the space with other products.

I Ickes the link just to make sure that "browning" was a typo. Glad yet disappointed to see it was.

I bought the tea because of ILX and think I will grow to like it because of ILX.

youn, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 22:56 (fourteen years ago)

Why is there yarn in your freezer, I need to know.

My enemy the casemaking moth (eater of wool) has shown up in my house and I put my 'spensivest yarn in there to protect it. A "deep freeze" will kill moth eggs. My freezer doesn't get cold enough to kill them but I figure the last place moths are hanging out in is the freezer.

btw wondering what the LD50 is for dark chocolate peanut butter cups

ASPIE Rocky (dayo), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 23:11 (fourteen years ago)

I have lost favorite suits to the moths; now engage in chemical mothball warfare. Hate the smell and wish I had a walk-in freezer for freezing all the clothes and foods.
