De Gea asking for offside there?

Ahaha, was just bemoaning my fantasy league captain Silva's lack of measurable contribution

is silva the best in the league?

I mean, i finally admitted at half time that he's better than modric, but

Just as well Utd held off collapse as long as they did

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:22 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, Silva's the best

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:22 (fourteen years ago)

lol

nakhchivan, Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:23 (fourteen years ago)

Hang on. Maybe this one isn't over just yet. Darren Fletcher exchanges passes with Javier Hernandez outside the area and curls a delightful shot into the top corner. Less than 10 minutes left for the 10 men to pull off what would be the comeback of all comebacks.

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:23 (fourteen years ago)

Lolololololol.

Silva on current form is the best player in the league, yeah.

Matt DC, Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:24 (fourteen years ago)

"The real story today is that they can't do it without Robin van Persie."

Fucking Tony Gale, what a shit cunt.

Yup, I think City would have carried on getting a goal a minute there.

Anyway - could have been worse - Old Trafford's a difficult place to play - got to be happy with that

Any hilarious "Fergie out" threads on Redcafe yet?

James Mitchell, Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:31 (fourteen years ago)

Actually kind of dreading playing City this season. That was an incredible performance, barely let United have a shot, completely ran midfield and outstanding displays from Silva and Balotelli. It was pretty much perfect. And the confidence they take from it will carry them a long way. Plus they really do have the squad to maintain CL and PL challenges in spring.

How good must Bayern be, I'm thinking?

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:32 (fourteen years ago)

Better than Utd, we know that much for sure

Yeah, I think they've got to be firm favourites. The (pointless) Evans sending off is what turned it into a thrashing, but City would have won anyway today (albeit probably 1-0 or 2-0). For all the possession United had in the first half, they never looked remotely like scoring. And in the second half City were bossing it up to the sending off.

That Silva pass for Milner for the second

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:36 (fourteen years ago)

silva pass to dzeko for the last

When was the last time United lost so heavily on the league?

Matt DC, Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:40 (fourteen years ago)

At home, 1955

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:41 (fourteen years ago)

Away, I guess 5-0 Newcastle in 96 or thereabout

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:42 (fourteen years ago)

this is why getting thrashed by city didn't bother me tbh- we're not equipped to handle movement like they possess, we weren't all that bad that day, we just have dawson- utd weren't all that bad today, they just had evans until he got sent off.

Meanwhile Blackburn are causing us problems...

Matt DC, Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:42 (fourteen years ago)

We lost 6-3 at Southampton the week after the 5-0 at Newcastle. We also lost 5-0 at Chelsea in the 99/00 season.

Mister Potato shares Manchester United’s commitment to (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:43 (fourteen years ago)

Lost 5-0 to Chelsea in 99 as well, and didn't Southampton beat them 6-2 around that time?

We lost 6-3 at Southampton the week after the 5-0 at Newcastle.

Saints defeat was a "blip" caused by grey jersey iirc. Toon game was the one rounded off with that great Philippe Albert chip wasn't it?

building a binary of hope (onimo), Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:46 (fourteen years ago)

'blip' grey jersey result was in fact a 3-1 loss iirc

stop muammar time (darraghmac), Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:48 (fourteen years ago)

Nope, that's a myth that's sprung up. The grey jersey game was the season before, in the spring, just after United had pegged Newcastle back. 3-0 down at half-time, changed into blue-and-white, 'won' the second half 1-0.

6-3 was ostenstadt and that le-tiss chip, right?

stop muammar time (darraghmac), Sunday, 23 October 2011 14:49 (fourteen years ago)

I thought they changed jerseys at half time against Southampton in the 6-3 game - maybe getting them mixed up. So long ago.

FUCK. Had something of an epic night last night, ended up watching the rugby world cup final hammered and then lapsing into a coma. Was woken up by my flatmate minutes after the Evans sending off and then events rapidly spiralled out of control. Just been laughing manically for the last hour

It's just a dream. Go back to sleep. Watch MOTD2 tonight and it'll all be OK.
