A longtime crush's mom added me as a friend, then sent a message saying it was a sorta mistake (she clicked a post I'd tagged her daughter in and before she knew it a request was sent). I write a nice and understanding note back and--long story short--we are now fb friends whose most common interest is how awesome her daughter is.
C'est la vie.

There is a "Miley Cyrus" video going around my list where you can see a penis in the thumbnail :P No gore though.

I'm seeing so many pictures of people I don't know appearing only because one of my friends commented or liked it.
One of them was of a dude sitting naked on the floor with an erection.

that might be this pron spam thing I am reading about?
― The New Dirty Vicar, Tuesday, 15 November 2011 17:29 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah I never saw any of the supposed sick pr0n spam. I had one friend bitch about seeing it on his feed, and there was an article in the paper about it this morning, but I saw nada. I will chalk that up to having sensible friends who dont randomly click on stupid things, possibly.

― Trayce, Tuesday, 15 November 2011 23:43 (fourteen years ago)
This guy (old school acquaintance) is fucking me off at the moment:
Hates the January fitness industry's use of the word 'toning'! Guess what, unless your body fat is pretty low 'toning' is going to make fuck all difference to your body! Forget your 'legs, bums and tums' or '40 minute abs classes' and start doing some proper structured exercise and eat better!
This kind of shit all the time, and every day he posts some kind of insanely detailed nutrition chart of what he's eaten.
This is the worst though:I love how modern society seems to think activity is optional. You know what? Type 2 diabetes is optional. Heart Disease is optional. Obesity is optional. Osteoporosis is optional. I know which option I'll be taking!!!
Fuck. Off.

I could forgive one of those every once in a while but that sounds insane
― mh, Tuesday, 10 January 2012 14:39 (fourteen years ago)
btw having ocd about tracking your food intake and fitness regimen are optional, too.
― mh, Tuesday, 10 January 2012 14:40 (fourteen years ago)
I had to block a high school classmate who has gotten crazy into bodybuilding since she finished college and now all she posts is really disturbing pictures of herself in a bikini and she looks like an angular orange with almost no recognizable human features.
― jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 10 January 2012 14:41 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah I blocked a friend who joined a Crossfit program, all he ever posted was rundowns of his workout & weightlifting photos. zzz
― Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 10 January 2012 14:43 (fourteen years ago)
omg jon did we go to the same high school!?? i have one of those too, down to every detail.
― La Lechera, Tuesday, 10 January 2012 16:13 (fourteen years ago)
holy shit @ this new feature where facebook shows you thumbnails of pictures you posted years ago and guesses where they were taken and asks you to tag them by location
it keeps showing a picture from my cousin's wedding and nailing the suburb of san diego it was taken in exactly (kind of sucks because that same cousin just filed for divorce)
then it shows a picture of my friend's wedding in arizona and guessing that i took it at some place ive never heard of in hawaii.
i cant figure out if its guessing by Geotag information on the file you uploaded or if its using some algorithm putting together everyone else tagged in the album?
also i shoot mostly on film so my negatives are often getting scanned in a different location than where the photos were taken.
― ⚓ (gr8080), Tuesday, 10 January 2012 16:47 (fourteen years ago)
hahaha, pretty sure no, I'd remember you somewhere amidst the other 164 people that went to my entire high school
― jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 10 January 2012 16:51 (fourteen years ago)
i know i was just marveling at the angular orange pplone of my friends who is a therapist referred to facebook as a neurosis display case and she's just about right (for some people -- other people are aware of the display case and choose what they display more carefully)
― La Lechera, Tuesday, 10 January 2012 17:02 (fourteen years ago)
Grady, were you ever the type to add a location to your images? i.e. I once labelled a set as taken in 'Kingston,' and it guessed they were taken in Kingston, Jamaica (never been, know no one there) instead of Kingston, ON (been many times, many friends there).
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 10 January 2012 17:46 (fourteen years ago)

Ok, I'm mildly creeped out by this: I commented on a someone's status and subsequently got not one but two updates reading along the lines of "Some Guy (friends with Woman I Like Who Isn't The Person Whose Status Line This Is) also commented on...".
― Lady Writer, Male Seether (C. Grisso/McCain), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 01:39 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah if the status is public, any comments oyu make on that persons FB shows ujp on alllll his friends feed too.
― thanks to denial, I'm immortal! (Trayce), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 05:58 (fourteen years ago)
I try not to comment on public posts, as a result (its easy to forget to check tho)
I get that, but I didn't finish the statement like I should have in my o.g. post. The updates I got read in toto (parentheses and all) like this: "Some Guy (friends with a Woman I Like Who Isn't The Person Whose Status This Is) also commented on The Person Whose Status This Is' Status."
Now I'm used to updates about comments. What throws me is the parentheses. I actually have multiple shared friends w/both these dudes, but--because facebook keeps tabs on these things--they single out this lady whose timeline I'll admit I click on a tad more than other, better friends, and we three guys--who just so happened to post in a row in another mutual friend's comments--apparently share as friends. It shouldn't bug me, but it does.
Adding to the ridiculousness of this thing is that I subsequently got another update for this same comments thread that went like this: "Some Guy (friends with The Person Whose Status This Is) also commented..."
NO...FUCKING...SHIT
