what about you conrad

Art Arfons (La Lechera), Friday, 14 October 2011 01:46 (fourteen years ago)

I showed you my teeth you're now supposed to tell me who I am

conrad, Friday, 14 October 2011 01:47 (fourteen years ago)

I was really worried when my wisdom teeth grew in that it would fuck things up for my mouth. When I finally got around to seeing a dentist, he told me there would be room in my mouth for four more teeth needs be. This is empirical evidence that I have a big mouth.

you are right handed, and you have trouble sleeping in new places

I had braces from age 8 to 14. They pulled 10 baby teeth to put those suckers on me. When they came off my teeth were perfect but started to shift soon thereafter. I couldn't sleep through the night with the retainer they gave me so hardly wore it and I grind my teeth so badly that it made them shift even faster.

I hate my teeth now and am very self-conscious of them. I had to search for like 10 mins to find a pic of me smile with my mouth open. IRL I smile widely and often and don't think about it too much but I'm aware of it in pictures. I really want invisilign but I don't know if that'll work because of the grinding.

x-post - I have several gaps in the top row and a slight overbite. The bottom row is totally crooked too but I don't care as much about that one as it's not as visible.

Juggy Brottleteen (ENBB), Friday, 14 October 2011 01:57 (fourteen years ago)

the last time i went to the dentist he said, 'wow those look like good teeth!' and then he looked at my x-ray and found a cavity (sigh, 4 years of no dental insurance!) and it was sad.

tehresa, Friday, 14 October 2011 01:58 (fourteen years ago)

enbb yours are very square-- that's distinctive
abbott's remind me of ally sheedy

Art Arfons (La Lechera), Friday, 14 October 2011 02:01 (fourteen years ago)

ally sheedy has long crowded pointies

Art Arfons (La Lechera), Friday, 14 October 2011 02:01 (fourteen years ago)

i was supposed to get braces but my parents couldn't afford it - or so they said - but then for my younger siblings they somehow found the money. a dentist told me the inside of my mouth is unusually small and all my teeth are crowded in, overlapping each other. my top two front teeth overlap, which i really only noticed for the first time about 4 yrs ago when i saw a photo of myself caught laughing unawares. now i'm extra aware of it and i'm convinced they're becoming more and more overlapped.

just1n3, Friday, 14 October 2011 02:28 (fourteen years ago)

My gf and I went to the Hirshhorn today and spent a while in a room lit only by a blue Dan Flavin sculpture. It made our teeth look pink.

medium rear (silby), Friday, 14 October 2011 02:34 (fourteen years ago)

i never had braces! my teeth are naturally straight which i really appreciate having watched my sisters go through headgears, braces and/or retainers

tehresa, Friday, 14 October 2011 02:47 (fourteen years ago)

I have always been self concious of a toothy grin in photos so you'll find most of mine I am either not smiling at all, or I'm pulling a tight, chimplike toothless smile. Its not that I dont like my teeth! My teeth are fine. I just tend to look... gummy? Also my top lip is thin.

But sometimes, I tooth up:

T, you're lucky. I had a headgear and rubber bands and everything. It was p awful. In the end I guess maybe mine aren't that bad I just wish they hadn't moved so much.

Oohh the rubber bands they were the worst. I also hated going in monthly to have the wiring/anchors tightened, for days after that was done my teeth and jaw would ache sooooo much. Ugh. Nightmare.

Occupy Kelly St (Trayce), Friday, 14 October 2011 02:56 (fourteen years ago)

omg what's wrong with my computer!? I didn't double post that intentionally.

Oh the tightening was so awful.

Juggy Brottleteen (ENBB), Friday, 14 October 2011 03:00 (fourteen years ago)

I did have a purple glitter retainer and used to get colored bands on the actual braces. That part was pretty sweet.

Juggy Brottleteen (ENBB), Friday, 14 October 2011 03:02 (fourteen years ago)

omg i had a purple retainer with silver stars in it!

I was so so excited about that. I remember it well.

Juggy Brottleteen (ENBB), Friday, 14 October 2011 03:03 (fourteen years ago)

tho at the beginning of my orthodontic journey, i had something called a bionator, which was just clear-ish plastic, and was made to wear it during the day at school even though i could hardly talk through it. i sort of cared but not really? it was kind of gross. i still remember my mom saying to me "put your bionator in!!" lolll xtra pre-teen trauma.

Juggy Brottleteen (ENBB), Friday, 14 October 2011 03:09 (fourteen years ago)

I sometimes still have dreams about wearing my retainer, or having bits of brace brackets still stuck on my teef.

But! We were asked not to go over dental traumas haha.

Wow I just went thru all my FB pics of myself and I am only tooth-smiling in two, out of dozens and dozens. Thats a bit sad!

Occupy Kelly St (Trayce), Friday, 14 October 2011 03:09 (fourteen years ago)

had braces & retainer for a couple of years to straighten teeth out.

in 2005 i was too-enthusiastically rehearsing a slam piece and i tooth-checked the mic, leading to a small chip.

in 2007 i was trying to swig from a bottle of wine and my gf grabbed the bottle in motion, then released it, sending it careening into same tooth and chipping away a little more.

in 2009 i had a couple too many whiskies and face planted into a parking space, leading to the full "oh, it's got character!" half moon chip it's at now.

girl i dated once referred, in an affectionate way, to my "british teeth."

I got braces on my upper teeth when I was 13. before getting them I had pretty horrible buck teeth.

wrestlingisreal420 (crüt), Friday, 14 October 2011 03:11 (fourteen years ago)

i like all these pictures of smiling ilxors! :D

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Friday, 14 October 2011 03:13 (fourteen years ago)

i never had braces, and i think i am slowly grinding my teeth out of existence, but i think that will be kind of a relief.

these extra whitening toothpastes don't compromise on cavity/bacteria/plaque protection do they? do they just add extra cleaning agents?

Chris, Monday, 6 May 2013 15:27 (thirteen years ago)

I remember my old dentist telling me that they can make teeth more sensitive, but I'd really (personally) rather not discuss the minutiae of dental sensitivity tbrr.
