I like that they're illustrating quantum mechanics and multiverse/timeline-theory using _actual_ dice rolls.

Countdown to someone bitching about "another episode about the group dynamic in 5... 4..."

Seriously though, this was great. Best episode of the season so far.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 14 October 2011 04:07 (fourteen years ago)

britta is amazing this season

lite-brite phrenology (reddening), Friday, 14 October 2011 05:18 (fourteen years ago)

Bottle episode means an elaborate one can't be far off!

nickn, Friday, 14 October 2011 05:48 (fourteen years ago)

hoooooooooly maaaaaaaaaaaacaroni what was that? jeff lost an arm!

Ravaging Rick Rude (a hoy hoy), Friday, 14 October 2011 06:25 (fourteen years ago)

I didn't mind another group dynamic episode when done this way. Although, I thought it worth noting that the only time things got better when someone left the apartment to go get the pizzas was when Jeff went. Things went from normal to better, whereas when anyone else left it went from normal to various degrees of terrible.

britta is amazing this season

Wow! That was perfect!

pandemic, Friday, 14 October 2011 07:54 (fourteen years ago)

Troy's voice!!

pandemic, Friday, 14 October 2011 07:57 (fourteen years ago)

And Troy and his candy cigarettes.

pandemic, Friday, 14 October 2011 08:02 (fourteen years ago)

So psyched to see this. I have been waiting for Troy and Abed to throw a party for about two seasons now.

I hope they invited Pavel and Magnitude.

Matt DC, Friday, 14 October 2011 09:08 (fourteen years ago)

yeah this wasn't a 'group dynamic' episode imo. something that advances individual relationships between troy and pierce, jeff and annie, britta and shirley etc etc with all these great little moments is much better than "is pierce in or out?" part 12.

some dude, Friday, 14 October 2011 11:03 (fourteen years ago)

some dude otm, my comment wasn't aimed at anyone around here, mostly other boards where I've seen excessive bitching about the "group dynamic" stuff

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 14 October 2011 13:10 (fourteen years ago)

Gah, fucking Torg was in my dream last night. I hate you Dan Harmon for putting that nasty little troll on my tv!

Johnny Fever, Friday, 14 October 2011 14:09 (fourteen years ago)

the past 2 episodes werent so bad but this was, kind of awful?

flopson, Friday, 14 October 2011 16:58 (fourteen years ago)

the thing theyre doing with jeff and annie I DONT LIKE IT I WANT IT TO STOP

flopson, Friday, 14 October 2011 16:59 (fourteen years ago)

none of the characters are cool anymore theyre all just these dumb caricatures of themselves who only ever do embarassing things and its not even hot or fun when they fall in love just gross

flopson, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:01 (fourteen years ago)

wait, the characters used to cool?

da croupier, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:03 (fourteen years ago)

You should stop watching this terrible show then, imho. I mean if you thought this episode was awful, I'm wondering exactly what you've seen in the show in the past.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:03 (fourteen years ago)

to be cool, I mean?

da croupier, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:03 (fourteen years ago)

i like the idea that this used to be a show about cool people getting into hot love scenes

da croupier, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:04 (fourteen years ago)

chaflopson

Rory's new misogynist car (Gukbe), Friday, 14 October 2011 17:04 (fourteen years ago)

maybe the comments were meant for a gossip girl thread?

da croupier, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:05 (fourteen years ago)

some good moments tho

jeff: this club looks like it was designed for me
abed : it was, i designed it for you so that you would keep tonight free

also pierce getting shot in the leg was a huge lol

flopson, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:06 (fourteen years ago)

those were both nice breaks from the caricatures doing embarrassing things, weren't they?

da croupier, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:07 (fourteen years ago)

ya idk i only caught up on community over the summer so none of my love for the first two seasons is documented on this thread, then again i don't see the need to explain my challenging opinion about why i think its dropping off to people who were keeling over at PIZZA PIZZA ME SO HUNGY

re: "cool:" jeff and britta used to be, like, impenetrably witty, from both within the group & with each other. i realize the softening is part of their char development but they dont even have good zings or comebacks anymore & say awkward dumb crap all the time. this has been noted previous but abed has always been cool in a nerdy way, the episode where its revealed tons of girls are into him kind of makes sense; he's detached and smart and observant. now i'm not so sure what they think he is

flopson, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:15 (fourteen years ago)

ceiling fan gag = gold

j., Friday, 14 October 2011 17:16 (fourteen years ago)

also: the jeff britta romance was fun and tense and hilarious! this annie thing is gross and i know thats the joke but its TOO GROSS

flopson, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:16 (fourteen years ago)

i will admit now isn't a good time for a jeff/britta shipper

da croupier, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:18 (fourteen years ago)

fwiw I thought the Britta "HUNGY" thing wasn't funny, so flopson otm there I guess

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:19 (fourteen years ago)

Fortunately for that line, it didn't exist in a context- or setup-free vacuum.

Tarfumes The Escape Goat, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:20 (fourteen years ago)

Twasn't a joke, just a nice bit of ridiculousness one does a) when in the loosened atmosphere of a party and b) as a stupid bit of nonsense you do when you're stoned. It's OTM in that regard.

Emile Zola predicts World War I and then he dies. (R Baez), Friday, 14 October 2011 17:22 (fourteen years ago)

the shocking revelation that a disbarred, fradulent lawyer and a 30 year old who has done peace corps and foot modeling after dropping out of high school to "impress Radiohead" at a community college are prone to foolish behavior

da croupier, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:23 (fourteen years ago)

xp That was my point. The criticisms against it seemed to miss the setup.

Tarfumes The Escape Goat, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:27 (fourteen years ago)

Chop busted, fellow adult. Chop busted.

da croupier, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:33 (fourteen years ago)

Fortunately for that line, it didn't exist in a context- or setup-free vacuum.

Sorry guys, next time I will refer to the entire contect and setup for every joke rather than try to refer to it in shorthand. I mean, I get the setup and context, I just don't think she pulled it off in a way that made me laugh. Now, Annie doing that in a similar set-up after her first time getting stoned or something probably would have cracked me up.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:33 (fourteen years ago)

I also really appreciate the insinuation that because I didn't think a joke was funny that I didn't get the "context" or "setup". ffs u guys.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:34 (fourteen years ago)

haha donald glover's delivery on "chop busted" kills me

horseshoe, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:35 (fourteen years ago)

tbf you piggybacked off an incoherent challop, jon

da croupier, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:35 (fourteen years ago)

tbrr, I wasn't piggybacking on any single part of it except the Britta joke I didn't like

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:37 (fourteen years ago)

well let that be a lesson to you

da croupier, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:38 (fourteen years ago)

jvc, sorry, to clarify, it was directed more at flopson's "its dropping off to people who were keeling over at PIZZA PIZZA ME SO HUNGY", as if the show was becoming some one-dimensional "but Football In The Groin had a football in the groin."

Tarfumes The Escape Goat, Friday, 14 October 2011 17:39 (fourteen years ago)

I gotcha. But, tbh, my comment was for a general reaction to that argument I get from people wrt to comedy about not liking a particular joke, "oh well, you just didn't get the setup". Uh, no, I did, I just didn't laugh.
