xpost Walt discovering the cure for cancer and winning the Nobel Prize, then going to jail for cooking meth and killing people, would be A+ poetry, even if it would/could never happen.

Walt Jr has been clueless from the get go. I hated the episodes when he would turn all his rage at Skyler for leaving Walt. Clueless but also a little willful ignorance. I mean, at age 7 I knew better than to lay all the blame for my parents' divorce at the feet of the parent who actively left. Walt Jr is in freaking high school. Get some shades of gray, kid.
His support for Walter dealing with his "gambling addiction" is heartbreaking. It would be heartbreaking if it were just the story of a kid coping with a parent's addiction but it's double heartbreaking here.
― pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:31 (fourteen years ago)
I like that Jr is kind of dopey. It's better than being a shrewd smart talking TV teen.
― Art Arfons (La Lechera), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:32 (fourteen years ago)
The reason Gus was so stone-faced all the time was due the effects of the plastic surgery. In fact, Gus was the unknown son of Hitler, having hidden himself for all those years in South America. Walt will be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and full pardon for killing Hitler's son. Then he will move to Switzerland, where meth is legal (probably).
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:33 (fourteen years ago)
Walt Jr. totally behaves like a 10 year old, not a 16 year old.
good lookin' out making fun of a disabled teen with a dying father everyone
― the jazz zinger (s1ocki), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:36 (fourteen years ago)
Given that both of Walter Jr's parents intentionally keep him in the dark about EVERYTHING THEY EVER DO and offer virtually no explanations for their behavour, I think he can be forgiven for his ignorance.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:42 (fourteen years ago)
(I think Junior is a great character fuiud)

walt jr is kind of annoying dude personally but that doesn't make him a bad character. pretty deeply realistic character as far as teen-from-fucked-up-family-that-masquerades-as-unfucked-family imo. also this
otm x 1,000,000 and one of the best things about the show - walt jr. isn't particularly cute (even though the actor is), show's not trying to cultivate any "and for teens, you can relate to walt jr!" demographic: he's who he is. big plus to the show in that regard
― pathos of the unwarranted encore (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:50 (fourteen years ago)
And at least they picked an actor with cerebral palsy instead of acting like they do.
― Jeff, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:54 (fourteen years ago)
Pretty much the only adult he can relate to these days is Hank, who is totally up on a pedestal for fighting all these evil drug lords. There, surely, has to be a scene in the final season where Walt has to sit in front of his son and try to explain away everything he's done and it's going to be the most painful scene ever to watch.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:55 (fourteen years ago)
what if he brings walt jr into the "family business"
― the jazz zinger (s1ocki), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:56 (fourteen years ago)
i agree that walt jr is a good character but part of that is he is p clueless and self righteous like you know how teens can often be - its not just that he doesnt know abt the meth sitch its how completely he buys into the gambling addiction rhetoric, how hes all nodding seriously and agreeing w/marie abt hank not going to hq to interview hector, how he never looks deeper at the inconsistencies in his parents stories, etc, hes kinda a humorless scold, he takes everything at face value
― ice cr?m, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:56 (fourteen years ago)
Given his parents' dysfunction, the stress of his disability, feeling second to that omnipresent baby and his general age, Walt Jr. is basically the best behaved 16 year old male on earth. In real life, he'd be cooking/using meth by now.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:56 (fourteen years ago)
he's also a kid who thought his dad was going to die and who has to deal with some srs shit of his own so excuse him for not like being columbo jr over here
― the jazz zinger (s1ocki), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:57 (fourteen years ago)
(also what josh said)
LEAVE WALT JR ALONE
i loved that scene where his mom was infantilizing him on his birthday and offering him PANCAKES, HONEY and he was just kinda, yeah whateverthanks for the safe ride :-/
hes kinda a humorless scold, he takes everything at face value <--- just like his mom

lmao that scene was SO BRUTAL
― ice cr?m, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:59 (fourteen years ago)
At age 16 my reaction to all that would have been "hmm, what are they up to? Better dig deeper" and more "fuck this, when and how can I get out of here?"
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:59 (fourteen years ago)
mine would have been *smokes joint and watches terry gilliam movie*
― the jazz zinger (s1ocki), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 15:59 (fourteen years ago)
3/4 of Walt Jr. on this show has been him ambling out of bed late and his mom offering him breakfast. I bet they shot all those scenes the same day and just parceled them out.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 16:00 (fourteen years ago)
guys im not criticizing the character, im just talkin abt his qualities, and how he prob wouldnt be that fun to hang around ok

― the jazz zinger (s1ocki), Wednesday, 12 October 2011 16:02 (fourteen years ago)
We saw him getting bullied in the first episode but he seems to be reasonably popular at school otherwise?
There's also that scene when they're holed up in Hank's house with the DEA and it's announced that Walt isn't coming and is 'going to the car wash' instead and Junior immediately shoots his mum a look and accuses her of forcing him to work instead of staying safe in the house. His relationships with his parents are totally fucked up and who can blame him?
