So is Brock going to recover and say "hey, Walt gave me some berries"?

Surely any of us can guess what will happen next.
― DSMOS has arrived (kenan), Monday, 10 October 2011 09:14 (fourteen years ago)
I liked the Morricone-isms in the score before Gus's death.
I totally noticed that, too, once you pointed it out. :)
But yeah, it was a deft touch.
― DSMOS has arrived (kenan), Monday, 10 October 2011 09:16 (fourteen years ago)
I do think him leaving the room and straightening his tie before dying was putting too fine a point on it, though.
― DSMOS has arrived (kenan), Monday, 10 October 2011 09:20 (fourteen years ago)
Funny, but... really now.
HOWEVER: The makeup and/or CG thqt went into that shot was fan-frickin-tastic. The way you can see the muscles at the back of the eyesocket twitch as he looks around for the last time.
HOWEVER: The song they picked to close this season is nowhere near as good as the song they picked to close the first episode of this season. That song -- "Truth" by Alexander Ebert -- has been in my head ever since. This one slightly annoyed me, and I don't care much to know who it's by.
― DSMOS has arrived (kenan), Monday, 10 October 2011 09:30 (fourteen years ago)
The first song is so obviously Morricone-inspired... well, here:

I'd have loved if they'd closed the season with the same song.
― DSMOS has arrived (kenan), Monday, 10 October 2011 09:44 (fourteen years ago)
Wait... that's Amy Winehouse, isn't it. Ok, well. Shit.
― DSMOS has arrived (kenan), Monday, 10 October 2011 10:11 (fourteen years ago)
Parallels: the shot of Jesse and Walt shaking hands, but the shot split in two by a pillar in the parking garage, and the shot of Gus and Don Don Eladio shaking hands right before Gus poisoned him, split in two by a tree.
― DSMOS has arrived (kenan), Monday, 10 October 2011 10:16 (fourteen years ago)
Hector, the man with virtually no control over anything, is given the power to kill Gus. Lost for words.
So what we're left with is a Walt who is (ostensibly) going back to a normal life, but who is now so ruthless that he'll endanger a baby.
Any chance Walt and Jesse were being watched on the roof of that building?

I felt a little cheated by the writers that the season-ending reveal was predicated on actions that were not shown to the audience.
― calstars, Monday, 10 October 2011 12:35 (fourteen years ago)
they showed the gun rouletting onto the plant, they showed Walt changing his mind, they showed Huell boosting Jesse's cigs.

I liked the bomb magnet getting stuck on the elevator door
― the boy with the gorn at his side (Edward III), Monday, 10 October 2011 13:16 (fourteen years ago)
that old lady is coming back, you know it -- she saw walt! what, is he gonna kill her too?
― Art Arfons (La Lechera), Monday, 10 October 2011 13:28 (fourteen years ago)
The bomb-in-hospital scene was hilarious for the bit of slapstick with the elevator door and the fact that even Jesse was like "you brought a BOMB into a HOSPITAL?!?"
― ( ) (mh), Monday, 10 October 2011 13:52 (fourteen years ago)
yeah that part was good (the jesse part)he was really good this episode, made lots of jesse faces
― Art Arfons (La Lechera), Monday, 10 October 2011 13:56 (fourteen years ago)
The only thing I'll guess about next season is that Jesse will learn that Walt poisoned Brock -- not much of a stretch. I like the idea of a mostly clean slate.
― Antonio Carlos Broheem (WmC), Monday, 10 October 2011 14:08 (fourteen years ago)
glad Jesse finally snapped out of the growly Batman voice he's been using the past few episodes
― I DIED, Monday, 10 October 2011 14:10 (fourteen years ago)
We could make a list of all the shit Walt's done that Jesse doesn't know about: - Let his girlfriend die - Poisoned the kid of his new girlfriend

Of interest (includes an interview with Esposito and Gilligan about it all, plus an appropriately gross GIF on the second page if your workplace is squeamish):

Breaking Bad fans, for sure, will miss Gustavo Fring, but Esposito’s colleagues on set might miss him a tad more. Many of Gus’s scenes were filmed at his fast-food fried-chicken chain, Pollos Hermanos, where Esposito often took over the kitchen to make his mean fried chicken.“I love the fact that we shoot at a Twisters and I can really get behind the grill and really fry some really good fried chicken,” Esposito said. “And it’s fun because it makes it really authentic and realistic. And when people come by the counter—the crew and whatnot—I see them grabbing a little piece of skin. That means I’ve not only done a good job of acting, I’ve done a good job as one of the world’s best chefs. Ha ha!”Next on television, Esposito will have a guest role on ABC’s new Once Upon a Time, which premieres on Oct. 23. But don’t count Gus completely out of Breaking Bad just yet. It’s possible he could return in flashbacks during the series’ final run next year, Gilligan said. Gus’s past in Chile—and the reason Don Eladio (Steven Bauer) did not kill him with Max—is still unrevealed.

Damn it Ned, I was hoping for an animated image. That's a jpeg :D

(gif is an image format that is generally shittier for photos so jpeg is used, but gif images are widely used as an animated format still)

yeah it's just a real shame he didn't have a catchphrase he could have delivered to the camera just before he dropped, something like "here I go again!" or "thaaaaat's my life!"

this wasn't that great to me. somehow they managed to make the mega season finale Gus death episode feel anti-climactic.
the actual bomb scene was pretty excellent though.
― dmr, Monday, 10 October 2011 16:26 (fourteen years ago)
The actual explosion shot from the hallway was fantastic, the door blowing out across the hall. Whatever effects person they have doing detonations/demolitions has to have that at the top of their highlight reel.
― Antonio Carlos Broheem (WmC), Monday, 10 October 2011 16:38 (fourteen years ago)
i really liked the image of the spreading of fire across the floor -- the whole laundry scene was really well done, with the warning bells and all, and the matching yellow rags for fingerprints
― Art Arfons (La Lechera), Monday, 10 October 2011 16:42 (fourteen years ago)
it's not "too ott" or "jumping the shark" dude it's that just because something is ott a lot doesn't mean every ott move works. like, I like notes in music. that doesn't mean every note ever played is good
― pathos of the unwarranted encore (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 10 October 2011 16:57 (fourteen years ago)
what do you know, walt was the one who knocks after allbtw, i'd kind of prefer it if the series was over now!
― loads of personality, loved to chase chickens (forksclovetofu), Monday, 10 October 2011 17:12 (fourteen years ago)
I liked the touch where Walt dropped the gun. My first thought was that he should wipe it down, but then it became evident he was going to TORCH ALL THE THINGS
― ( ) (mh), Monday, 10 October 2011 18:15 (fourteen years ago)
walt was in full gangster mode there capping those two guys like nbd 'we have work to do' - no way he can walk away from that high
― ice cr?m, Monday, 10 October 2011 18:36 (fourteen years ago)
Haha yeah after "I WON" there's no way in the world Walt is going to be satisfied with working in a fucking car wash for the rest of his life.
On the other hand, there is DEFINITELY no way that Hank is going to let this one go now. With a witness next door who saw Walt hanging around outside as well. He's not going to get that car wash life even if he wants it.
I was kinda dreading opening this thread for fear of it being full of soulcrushing haters but really this episode was awesome. Like they actually outlurided themselves yet again.
Also my gf is out tonight and this means I get to watch the episode all over again knowing full well that Zombie Gus is coming and anticipating the reaction.
I also loved Walt getting a proper dressing down from Saul's secretary.

delurking just to say that this episode was a start-to-finish MASTERPIECE, i could not be happier with every single beat (especially after last week) and
