Come On My Teselecta (Leee), Sunday, 9 October 2011 23:39 (fourteen years ago)

I like fun-hating Lincoln because they put glasses on him and now I'm all, "oh, HELLO." Such a sucker for a boy in glasses.

And now they've began this episode with Olivia in glasses, I like this trend.

foxes freud (Leee), Sunday, 9 October 2011 23:40 (fourteen years ago)

Show still seems to have a great balance between standalone procedural episodes and the mythology stuff. Like I never think, "Ack, this episode isn't going to advance the mythology at all, DO NOT WATCH." And it's not the X-Files, where the standalones were always the best ones.

Having said that, looking forward to the return of non-emo Walter more than I am Joshua Jackson.

three weeks pass...

what was walter listening to on his headphones?

j., Monday, 31 October 2011 03:40 (fourteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

Two thoughts on the first "Peter's back" episode (watching via Hulu):

1. God, why does our side hate fun so much?
2. The actress who plays the shapeshifter is rrowr, but wow she can't act. Wonder if she won the part on a reality tv show.

daschund derrida (Leee), Tuesday, 15 November 2011 06:12 (fourteen years ago)

This week's ep was much better, even though it was pretty much "White Tulip" mk ii.

Simon H., Tuesday, 15 November 2011 06:24 (fourteen years ago)

2. The actress who plays the shapeshifter is rrowr, but wow she can't act

u just don't understand her kind!

j., Tuesday, 15 November 2011 06:40 (fourteen years ago)

Walter is listening to ... Styx, 'Too Much Time On My Hands'

I am kind of amazed at how good this show has gotten. Peter has no chemistry with anyone but in this role of man-with-no-context his woodenness is now apropos.

Brakhage, Tuesday, 15 November 2011 22:49 (fourteen years ago)

Liking how his reaction to being shuttled around in time this ep just makes him annoyed, not completely horrified like anyone else would be

Brakhage, Tuesday, 15 November 2011 22:51 (fourteen years ago)

why does walter's amber-timeline house have a flatscreen tv in it? has he only been living in the lab there in recent times? the house looks a lot more disused than that.

j., Saturday, 19 November 2011 21:16 (fourteen years ago)

The modern tv fucked with me, too. Maybe it's a sponsored prop by LG or something?

mh, Sunday, 20 November 2011 02:05 (fourteen years ago)

haha was about to post that, it's obvs a continuity error with the props dept. Then again, it's possible that Walter invented it way back when...

Wait a sec, what do you mean by "amber timeline"?

Anyway: woman doing math, now that's what I call a fringe event, amirite?

Not to be *that guy*, but the Fibonacci spiral doesn't actually appear in nature: http://www.shallowsky.com/blog/science/fibonautilus.html

alpaca althusser (Leee), Sunday, 20 November 2011 05:39 (fourteen years ago)

well, not timeline, but this episode was still in amber-world, right? in which everyone but peter has a different history than they did in green fringeworld. (uh.... or whichever color the not-red one was.)

j., Sunday, 20 November 2011 06:03 (fourteen years ago)

Oooh you're referring to the title sequence, thought you meant amber as in the stuff the alt. universe uses to seal up breaches.

alpaca althusser (Leee), Sunday, 20 November 2011 06:17 (fourteen years ago)

no but i had kind of assumed that would come into play eventually in the amber world.

j., Sunday, 20 November 2011 07:30 (fourteen years ago)

one month passes...

do we need a NSFW on this thread or can someone remove the Newgod porn?

President Keyes, Monday, 9 January 2012 00:24 (fourteen years ago)

fixed. also, good show.

gnome rocognise gnome (remy bean), Monday, 9 January 2012 00:43 (fourteen years ago)

Ta, remy.

lEEE (Leee), Monday, 9 January 2012 00:51 (fourteen years ago)

They're getting decent at leading the audience on to believe that a character is like their other universe counterpart was, and then yanking the rug out from underneath.

mh, Sunday, 15 January 2012 16:25 (fourteen years ago)

Yes, some neat swerves and foreboding prophecies, but along the way, the dialogue and characterizations have become 10 times clumsier.

lEEE (Leee), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 04:11 (fourteen years ago)

omg, take me to your leader

j., Thursday, 26 January 2012 05:59 (fourteen years ago)

alternate earth is the alien planet

mh, Thursday, 26 January 2012 14:55 (fourteen years ago)

Damn Peter's mom is a fox.

lEEE (Leee), Sunday, 29 January 2012 05:24 (fourteen years ago)

funny, i had the urge to make the same post.

isn't she crazy in the original green fringe world though? the crazy one is not a fox.

j., Sunday, 29 January 2012 05:34 (fourteen years ago)

funny, i had the urge to make the same post.

Great minds etc.

isn't she crazy in the original green fringe world though? the crazy one is not a fox.

This show is making me keep track of four sets of characters, so I had to look up whether or not his mom also committed suicide in the OG Our-verse (she did). Btw: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Bishop

omar leeettle (Leee), Monday, 30 January 2012 02:00 (fourteen years ago)

I need many flow charts for this show now. I still love it but it makes my head hurt

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 30 January 2012 02:35 (fourteen years ago)

between aspie Farnsworth and doppelganger town, the last two episodes have been really good

rubber belly hand necker (CaptainLorax), Saturday, 11 February 2012 10:43 (fourteen years ago)

the two Farnsworths episode was really good. She is my favorite character, even though she never gets to do anything.

"renegade" gnome (remy bean), Saturday, 11 February 2012 12:21 (fourteen years ago)

product placement in this show is done in such a LOL way sometimes.

owenf, Saturday, 11 February 2012 12:30 (fourteen years ago)

How many Nissan Leafs are you buying?!?

valleys of your mind (mh), Saturday, 11 February 2012 14:48 (fourteen years ago)

ws double astrid farnsworths in a particle accelerator so there'd be ten of them

j., Saturday, 11 February 2012 15:06 (fourteen years ago)

Astrid squealing when she first sees Other Astrid.

Olivia: "I always wondered why no one ever does that."

^^LOL-ed at this.

Roz, Sunday, 12 February 2012 12:44 (fourteen years ago)

Astrids was so good, like it was last season again. The last episode was very good, too, in fact it's almost as if the show's real writers had mysteriously vanished from this entire universe, but suddenly found their ways back midseason.

omar leeettle (Leee), Monday, 13 February 2012 02:35 (fourteen years ago)

actually a scary x-filesy vibe to the last one. kinda figured it out early, but enjoyed it nevertheless

"renegade" gnome (remy bean), Monday, 13 February 2012 02:37 (fourteen years ago)

The cars shutting down/UFO fakeout was a pretty great X-Files homage.

I love how studiously casual they are about it!!

omar leeettle (Leee), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 05:14 (fourteen years ago)

Hahah wau @ the end of the last episode!!!

(Really lackadaisical preceding 40 minutes though.)

omar 13337713 (Leee), Monday, 20 February 2012 22:41 (fourteen years ago)

aw cmon

I REMEMBER EVERYTHING

j., Monday, 20 February 2012 22:54 (fourteen years ago)

the hivemind kid plot was pretty by the numbers and just there to prop up the story revelations and character development

valleys of your mind (mh), Monday, 20 February 2012 22:56 (fourteen years ago)

I can take or leave the sudden convergence of our Olivia with not-Fauxlivia, but I'm talking about the very final scene.

the hivemind kid plot was pretty by the numbers and just there to prop up the story revelations and character development

Yeah, totally. I mean, is that storyline finished or is it getting continued next week? Not that I care either way. I just want to know which Nina that was.

omar 13337713 (Leee), Monday, 20 February 2012 23:00 (fourteen years ago)

Does Broyles have eyebrows? Cos it'd be an awesome reveal if he turns out to be an undercover Observer.

omar 13337713 (Leee), Tuesday, 28 February 2012 04:42 (fourteen years ago)

kind of weird/racist that all the observers are white, especially now that they spoiled their origin

valleys of your mind (mh), Tuesday, 28 February 2012 14:18 (fourteen years ago)

maybe the time machine recreates them atom by atom out of white molecules

j., Tuesday, 28 February 2012 15:14 (fourteen years ago)

Keep forgetting to mention this, but

SHIITAKE
HAPPENS

!!!

Nude Gingrich (Leee), Sunday, 4 March 2012 04:46 (fourteen years ago)

lol, yes

valleys of your mind (mh), Sunday, 4 March 2012 04:48 (fourteen years ago)

OK, I knew this was the reveal we had coming, but I felt like it could have been handled better than it was.

mh, Tuesday, 27 March 2012 13:37 (fourteen years ago)

Cue Tesla: "Loooooooove wiiilll fiiiind a wayyyheyyyyyy"

I am not mad, but it's just..ugh. All that time in the amberverse & it's just "love"?

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 27 March 2012 13:43 (fourteen years ago)

I was kind of annoyed that it was introduced this way, instead of having the characters at least recognize it was possible that this was just a universe where Peter just erased himself.

mh, Tuesday, 27 March 2012 13:54 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, it was v. ugly and it didn't need to be. if they'd omitted the line about love, i.e. said 'this is your universe, and you should have been erased from it. but you weren't forgotten' i'm fairly certain that everybody would have gotten that It Was Love w/o out the hamfistedness.

aka vanilla bean (remy bean), Tuesday, 27 March 2012 14:37 (fourteen years ago)

The episode w/Peter Weller handled issues of unrequited love and affection better than about anything else in the series while still being pretty good science fiction. I think it's the one I've rewatched the most. Plus, Peter Weller.
