Well then.

gotta wonder what sort of person does such a thing
― Ravaging Rick Rude (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 6 October 2011 20:37 (fourteen years ago)
that chest hair is truly disturbing.

Pawnee's version of "Fresh Air"!
― DaTruf (Nicole), Friday, 7 October 2011 00:32 (fourteen years ago)
The only thing that worries me about this show, which I love, is whether they might make a hero out of a Libertarian. Are the writers so inclined?
― trapdoor fucking spiders (dowd), Friday, 7 October 2011 00:58 (fourteen years ago)
South Park is built on trumpeting libertarian values and it's still funny, so...big deal.
Aubrey Plaza is getting hotter by the second.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 7 October 2011 01:18 (fourteen years ago)

Hero? Funny is funny and relatable/sympathetic characters are relatable/sympathetic characters, strident belief systems bedamned.
― Work Hard, Flunky! (R Baez), Friday, 7 October 2011 01:29 (fourteen years ago)
ugh you guys liked the NPR spoof?
― max, Friday, 7 October 2011 01:53 (fourteen years ago)
Best part of the cold open was the announcer, who actually sounded like a NPR voice. Castellaneta's character embodied that hoary stereotype of NPR dudes as touchy-feely liberal wimps.
― jaymc, Friday, 7 October 2011 02:38 (fourteen years ago)
Which I'm not saying is 100% groundless, but it was written and played too broadly to be recognizable.
― jaymc, Friday, 7 October 2011 02:40 (fourteen years ago)
When they first started the cold open I immediately thought of Garrison Keillor.
― Mordy, Friday, 7 October 2011 02:44 (fourteen years ago)
liked aubrey plaza's one word shutdowns with Anne. And of course Joan Calamezzo is always welcome.

I like the idea that Nick offerman was really breaking there and they put it in
― Waxahachie Swap (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 7 October 2011 03:55 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah, I imagine they just rolled for a bit while Aubrey used a few different names as the button on the joke and Lester is the one that made him crack.

ha ha, sepinwall revealed what's been up with rob lowe's hair this season, apparently it's to mask the fact that's he's also filming a lifetime movie where he plays drew peterson:

this episode was nine times better than the last two

OK, I just listened to a few minutes of Bookworm with Michael Silverblatt on KCRW, and I take back what I said about Castellaneta's character.
― jaymc, Friday, 7 October 2011 13:34 (fourteen years ago)
lol
Ann was awesome this episode, I don't know why I gravitated towards that totally unimportant story line but it was great
also lol @ the dancers and Chris's reaction to them
― the tax avocado (DJP), Friday, 7 October 2011 14:05 (fourteen years ago)
extra lol @ Chris at the Eagleton records office, Lowe was really killing it
i like that they're making andy somewhat competent, last week he thought of going to ron's mom (unsuccessful but a reasonable idea), this week he got the birth certificate for leslie.
i cracked up at the "gotcha!" sticker on the back of leslie's book. and all the crazy people at the book-signing. another good episode.
― congratulations (n/a), Friday, 7 October 2011 15:01 (fourteen years ago)
andy is my favorite character by a long shot
― max, Friday, 7 October 2011 15:13 (fourteen years ago)
IIRC, Schur has said that Pratt is the best improviser in the cast. Apparently, this wasn't in the script:

yeah that was like my #1 lol of last season
― max, Friday, 7 October 2011 15:29 (fourteen years ago)
That's still funny and I've seen it 50 times!
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 7 October 2011 15:39 (fourteen years ago)
loved when ron and (aubrey) started to warm up to ann's hospital talk. what did ron say? like "no. speak." or something
― banana mogul (goole), Friday, 7 October 2011 15:42 (fourteen years ago)
The NPR announcement "providing umbrella hats for homeless people when it rains"...omg I died
― Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 7 October 2011 15:46 (fourteen years ago)
the dan castellanetta stuff was pretty broad but i like that they bothered to make the fake norwegian lesbian tribal music
― congratulations (n/a), Friday, 7 October 2011 15:47 (fourteen years ago)
i thought it was pretty good norwegian lesbian tribal music tbh
― banana mogul (goole), Friday, 7 October 2011 16:00 (fourteen years ago)
yeah i liked it!
― max, Friday, 7 October 2011 16:09 (fourteen years ago)
the music was the thing that sounded most like actual-NPR tbh
"nefertiti's fjord"
i lol'd
― banana mogul (goole), Friday, 7 October 2011 16:11 (fourteen years ago)
my reaction was "this could be tUnE-yArDs"
― the tax avocado (DJP), Friday, 7 October 2011 16:14 (fourteen years ago)
My NPR station doesn't even play music anymore, so.
― jaymc, Friday, 7 October 2011 16:14 (fourteen years ago)
http://minnesota.publicradio.org/radio/services/the_current/playlist/playlist.php
maybe they have a writer who listens to The Current
― the tax avocado (DJP), Friday, 7 October 2011 16:17 (fourteen years ago)
Oh, I take that back, there's a local world-music show on Friday nights that actually does look like something Nefertiti's Fjord might be featured on. OK, maybe I just don't listen to enough NPR!
― jaymc, Friday, 7 October 2011 16:17 (fourteen years ago)
that totally sounds like the stuff they play on the musical segments of "the world"
― banana mogul (goole), Friday, 7 October 2011 16:18 (fourteen years ago)
it sound like typical NPR bumper music, tho usually they dont introduce the artist, the whole "african norwegian lesbians" thing aside
― max, Friday, 7 October 2011 16:19 (fourteen years ago)
OTM. The last five minutes of "The World" where they profile an international musical act. Usually pretty terrible.
― righteousmaelstrom, Friday, 7 October 2011 16:22 (fourteen years ago)
All Things Considered usually does a music thing, some kinda twee mustache band or Iraqi rappers or w/e
― Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 7 October 2011 17:01 (fourteen years ago)
All Things Considered was the first place I ever heard Spice Girls.

― witchho (zachlyon), Friday, 7 October 2011 17:08 (fourteen years ago)
this ep was so funny i forgot it was a 22-minute ad for the book tie-in
also pretty good use of chris, actually having him as part of the gang and not just a stationary character who pops up a few times an episode.
― witchho (zachlyon), Friday, 7 October 2011 17:09 (fourteen years ago)
lol I'd forgotten that was going to be an actual buyable book.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 7 October 2011 17:11 (fourteen years ago)
I didn't even realize the book was an actual artifact until I read another review that cast the whole show in light of it.
