Is he a famous dude or something?

ɥɯ ︵ (°□°) (mh), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 21:23 (fourteen years ago)

he's been the local weather guy on the top station in his small market for the last 30 years, so as a kid he got recognized everywhere and even now i get friend requests from people down there who by all clear signs are only req'ing me because i'm listed as his son.

he used to do an afternoon bit where he'd do the weather outside on "[HOOS'S DAD'S] terrace," they had a bbq grill and restaurants would come in with food to do promos and stuff, i got so fat in middle school eating free food after school on the terrace

Tom Skilling is a famous Chicago weather forecaster and they call it SKILLING'S WEATHER.

It is cool and perfect that your dad is the local weather forecaster, btw.

No reflection on yr dad at all Hoos but who the heck "likes" the local weatherman on FB? That seems ... weird.

Silent Hedgehogs (Trayce), Wednesday, 5 October 2011 02:18 (fourteen years ago)

I befriended the local anchorman of my hometown and I was genuinely fucked up when I saw how fucking inbred his posts were.

I'll show you the power of laughter! (Abbbottt), Wednesday, 5 October 2011 02:20 (fourteen years ago)

Chicago forecaster Tom Skilling has tons of likes, and he kind of sucks.

Facebook's current population of 800 million users makes it bigger than the entire internet was in 2004

re: my stranger poking misadventure, I asked our mutual friend what could have been the intention behind it and the jist was "well he probably guessed you're a homo too and he wants a bit". It doesn't state it on my profile, or even that I'm single, but whaatever - he's not bad-looking so I returned the poke like the disgusting savage I am.

ha ha ha ha jack my swag (boxedjoy), Thursday, 6 October 2011 09:40 (fourteen years ago)

That really seems like the noblest use of the poke feature, so good for you.

mookieproof, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 00:36 (fourteen years ago)

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 00:43 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i got something similar - an invitation to be friends with someone i'm already friends with. the sender address looked dodgy, and it sent it to an old gmail address that i used to sign up to facebook with that is no longer my notifications address.

just1n3, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 01:10 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah I was thinking of what you had said earlier J, maybe its a virus?

Occupy Kelly St (Trayce), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 01:16 (fourteen years ago)

piscesx, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 02:38 (fourteen years ago)

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 03:07 (fourteen years ago)

how is it?

piscesx, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 03:17 (fourteen years ago)

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 03:20 (fourteen years ago)

⚓ (gr8080), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 03:22 (fourteen years ago)

I'm confuased about the new thingy. I thought anyone who'd switched to it, you'd see their profile in that new format now.

But you dont? Do you only see the new format if youre on it yrself? idgi

Speaking of no scrolling: Opera announced today they'll paginate content, no more scrollbars, to make webpages easier on handheld devices! /offtopic

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 13:09 (fourteen years ago)

So I realised this yesterday, not sure how long it's been around for, but if you set all your uploaded photos to 'friends only' (I always do) this no longer means 'friends only' - anyone you tag in the picture also has their friends able to see (and comment on and like) the photo. There doesn't seem to be a way to make it *actually* friends-only.

kinder, Wednesday, 19 October 2011 20:36 (fourteen years ago)

A longtime crush's mom added me as a friend, then sent a message saying it was a sorta mistake (she clicked a post I'd tagged her daughter in and before she knew it a request was sent). I write a nice and understanding note back and--long story short--we are now fb friends whose most common interest is how awesome her daughter is.

C'est la vie.
