Jesse should have said it was a chili powder overdose.
― Jeff, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 03:24 (fourteen years ago)
jesse shouldve just stuck w/'the kid is sick'
― ice cr?m, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 03:25 (fourteen years ago)
I definitely think Walt poisoned the kid via Saul's goons.
― polyphonic, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 03:25 (fourteen years ago)
it occurred to me, tho not via the goon stealing the cigarette, unless it turns out he was a magician or pick pocket, but i dont think walt would stoop that low, or would he
― ice cr?m, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 03:27 (fourteen years ago)
also it is interesting that the kid isnt displaying the symptoms as walt described them, spose walt couldve given him something that wasnt gonna kill him just to reel jesse in
― ice cr?m, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 03:28 (fourteen years ago)
dude, saul's "a team" couldn't take candy from a kid
― so i had sex with a piñata (mh), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 03:32 (fourteen years ago)
but maybe just maybe they could give candy (poison) to a kid

btw sauls ateam is a hilarious concept
― ice cr?m, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 03:35 (fourteen years ago)
Saul's perceived level of organization dropped a lot of notches when it was revealed that Mike was a free agent who just did work for him in his free time.
― so i had sex with a piñata (mh), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 03:41 (fourteen years ago)
feel like that was a bit of a fudge by the show turning mike into gus' main dood just cause they liked him
― ice cr?m, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 03:46 (fourteen years ago)
yeah the mike reveal in the finale should be something. sure jesse can shoot gus? but gus and mike? and then of course you just hear the shots and 'directed by vince gilligan' pops up. boy o boy that is gonna be something.
― balls, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 03:47 (fourteen years ago)
I think Tyrus took the cigarette (in fact I think he's the only person who could have taken the cigarette). I don't have the faintest idea who (if anyone) poisoned "Brock", but I don't think that Saul or his A-team would have gone along or helped with it even Walt would have had the stomach for it in the first place (which would really be far far far out of character for him.)
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 03:50 (fourteen years ago)
ha yeah id like to see walt trying to sell saul on that one
― ice cr?m, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 03:56 (fourteen years ago)
the guy who plays tyrus was pretty incredible in his stint on the shield and has been generally underused here so would not be surprised if they have larger things in store for him. or he could die next episode.
― balls, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 04:01 (fourteen years ago)
i liked when he wouldnt pass jesse the phone, he h8s those dudes so bad

yeah the 'does the laundry have to be dirty?!!!' '...no' exchange is my fave non-badass gus moment this season.

appreciate you all analyzing the ep all critical like BUT GDAMN IT I JUST WANTED GUS TO DIE SO BAD
Yeah me too, I'm getting bored of things going wrong for Walt, I want a big successful bloodbath, like the good old days.
― When a German communicates, you listen (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 06:18 (fourteen years ago)
The poisoning thing very confusing. They telegraph that it's Gus - "There will be an appropriate response" - and when you hear the kid's been poisoned it feels like just another example of a mafioso hurting someone's family as leverage. But then it all goes sideways.
How long before all the purple in Hank and Marie's house starts doing lasting damage to somebody's eyesight?
Speaking of eyesight I was impressed that the DEA sniper wasn't wearing any glasses. I guess if you're a pro sniper you just spring for the LASIK.
I wonder if this really is the last time Walt sees his family. It would be fitting, especially after Walt's speech to Jr. about how "this isn't how I want you to remember me".
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 09:38 (fourteen years ago)
I doubt it
― Number None, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 09:49 (fourteen years ago)
Either Gus is very definitely 10 steps ahead of everyone or we're supposed to think that Gus is very definitely 10 steps ahead of everyone.
Also, I think Gus saw Walt on top of the building and pretended not to, because he's exactly mechanical enough to get away with that sort of thing.

I thought this was great and I don't give a shit about the plausability of a ricin cigarette. At some point you just have to accept that Breaking Bad is meant as lurid tragedy and not social realism.
I actually thought the ramping up of tension throughout this episode was really well done. Just because they haven't moved in on Hank and Walt's family yet doesn't mean they're not going to, but if they went in all guns blazing at the start of the ep then where would you go from there?
I suspect Walt has called this one correctly and Gus is manipulating Jesse - "there will be an appropriate response" etc. Every time you see Gus's faux-Angelic face like that scene in the chapel you know it's bullshit.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 11:37 (fourteen years ago)
I sort of wonder what, if any, payoff the laundry search will have. They spent a lot of time setting that up and showing it happening. Hank cajoling Gomie, Gomie pulling a fast one with the manager (which was great by the way; I was actually rooting for Gomie to pull it off)
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 11:54 (fourteen years ago)
seemed like it was hank's partner covering his ass and satisfying hank's curiosity and therefore an end to suspicion of the laundry for now except maybe for hank because he is so tenacious and perceptive (although I'm starting to think he really has no clue about walt's involvement) but they're not going to go back there now unless some new clue arises and hank's surely not gonna *spot* something in one of the photos
― conrad, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:02 (fourteen years ago)
yeah thats what i was thinking, like theres at least one photo of where they enter the lab
― ice cr?m, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:17 (fourteen years ago)
hank's surely not gonna *spot* something in one of the photos
O RLY
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:19 (fourteen years ago)
that would be dumb but yeah I guess
― conrad, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:20 (fourteen years ago)
Hank's totally going to spot something. When Gomez paused before taking that one picture, before the camera panned down? If Hank has made it this far, Hank will notice an exhaust vent to/from "nowhere," for sure.
Tyrus is def. the only character who's been painted as a big asshole from day one, with no nuance. Gives a show about moral ambiguity a convenient fall guy for stuff.
LOL at Jesse invoking the same "help, this dangerous-looking/black stranger is bothering me!" line, just like Walt did.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:20 (fourteen years ago)
I find it insane that they haven't put the entire lab into boxes already and shipped it somewhere else. The entire jig would be up if Gomie pulled the wrong handle.
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:21 (fourteen years ago)
And it's not even like this is the first time the DEA has been sniffing around!
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:23 (fourteen years ago)
they prob think theyre more likely to be spotted moving it out than just staying put, and they cant stop cooking or gus' empire crumbles
― ice cr?m, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:25 (fourteen years ago)
I thought the way it sort of papered over walt screaming and laughing maniacally in the crawl space and started with him all rational and skylar concerned felt weird. I can see why they did it but it was a bit of a jump. I know they did a "some time passes" breaking bad swish, but still.
It's not that the ricin thing is implausible, which it is, nobody is that concerned with realism. It's just kind of a cheap shot.
Jesse's relationship with this kid has barely been explored for starters.
― When a German communicates, you listen (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:26 (fourteen years ago)
Hey, you know that feeling when you finally find somebody to do two-player with you
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:32 (fourteen years ago)
It's been in the background all season - Jesse stuck his neck out for his mother, they like hanging out and playing Sonic, and Jesse's protective towards kids and has been financially supporting them. But I get the feeling the writers deliberately kept it in the background so that this last episode's events would come as a shock.
But yeah, we don't know he's ricin-poisoned. I wonder if that's just a misdirect and an excuse to have Jesse freaked out and liable to turn on either Walt or Gus at a moment's notice. I'm not quite sure how Gus or whoever could have got close enough to poison the kid, for one thing.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:34 (fourteen years ago)
Ah they were so unsubtle with the kid stuff, if it was good writing you might see it coming, they lumped in that nintendo scene knowing this was on the cards.
It's also dumb within the world of the show.
I know Jesse is dumb but think of what he'd have to believe to think walt did this.
It's such a loose chain that it makes gus dumb for thinking Jesse would believe it.
Love this show but this ricin thing is pretty silly and loose by its own v high standards, not of realism but of storytelling.
― When a German communicates, you listen (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:38 (fourteen years ago)
idk that the ricin plot altogether is poor but i was a lil confused as to why jesse thought walt did it
― ice cr?m, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:41 (fourteen years ago)
They kind of cheapened the Walt laughing bit by having him break it out again in this episode
― Number None, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:43 (fourteen years ago)
"Walt, we're out car wash solution"http://image.com.com/tv/images/genie_images/story/2011_usa/b/breakingbad_walthole.jpg
― Number None, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:46 (fourteen years ago)
purely because only he and walt knew about the ricin apparently which meant it was definitely walt but turns out it wasn't or maybe was
― conrad, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:49 (fourteen years ago)
LocalGarda otm but - it's not about plausibility/realism but bad plotting/exposition which as this point seems will require some kind of *reveal* that could v well be crap
― conrad, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:51 (fourteen years ago)
"Tyrus is def. the only character who's been painted as a big asshole from day one"
I don't read him as a asshole at all. He just constantly has a "look at what I have to put up with" face which is totally understandable, because that's the face I'd have too!
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 12:57 (fourteen years ago)
Brock totally isn't displaying their description of ricin poisoning symptoms.
― robocop last year was a 'shop (sic), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 13:02 (fourteen years ago)
It's only a ridiculous loose chain if the kid was actually poisoned, AND if Walt was right about Gus planning the entire thing. I agree Gus would be dumb to assume Jesse would blame Walt - Jesse has just seen Gus poison an entire Mexican drug cartel.
Felt like the point of the whole episode was to throw everyone's extreme paranoia into complete overdrive and totally fuck up any remaining loyalties that might exist.
