They probably looked at the photos, maybe more than once.

― sarahel, Monday, 3 October 2011 23:38 (fourteen years ago)
why would facebook be recommending me fake profiles
not saying you're wrong, just...
― ⚓ (gr8080), Monday, 3 October 2011 23:43 (fourteen years ago)
Just received a warning when trying to click on a link to a blog by a respected company (it's legit), and now I have to download MacAffee's SiteAdvisor plug-in if I want to follow the link from Facebook. Otherwise, no go.
― per metal injection (Eazy), Monday, 3 October 2011 23:44 (fourteen years ago)
first they get you to friend fake profiles. pretty soon more and more of your friends are fake profiles. then you notice you haven't talked to your real friends in awhile. then you're a fake profile. then they start recommending you to new ppl.
― Mordy, Monday, 3 October 2011 23:45 (fourteen years ago)
when you click on guardian articles from facebook, it forces you to sign up for the guardian's facebook app

gr80 - not entirely sure, but then i'm not entirely sure why the fake sexxy girl profiles exist.

Hmm, and now this MacAffee program tried to make Yahoo my home page, etc., etc.

― markers, Monday, 3 October 2011 23:51 (fourteen years ago)
Fake sexxy women profiles exist to get to a certain number of contacts, then they mass message everyone a URL to their webcam site
― so i had sex with a piñata (mh), Monday, 3 October 2011 23:53 (fourteen years ago)
I've definitely been hit by fake profiles before - I see that they're mutual friends with some people I know, accept, and then they start tagging me in product advertisement posts. in between the product advertisement posts, they post youtubes of random music videos, to keep the sheepskin on.
― (╯°□°)╯︵ mode squad) (dayo), Monday, 3 October 2011 23:56 (fourteen years ago)
I don't accept friends-of-friends who add me if I don't know them!
― so i had sex with a piñata (mh), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 00:05 (fourteen years ago)
does it make you think less of your friends who added them before they were even friends of friends? like obviously they were like, "wow, hot fake body" and clicked add and now you reap misfortune bc of their horniness
― Mordy, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 00:10 (fourteen years ago)
i always like taking a few second too lol at the lineup of 14 to 15 dudes in the "girl's" friends list before i click ignore/block

What's the etiquette for a when a friend of a friend who you've never actually met or even heard of pokes you on Facebook? Is it expected that I should poke back, or befriend? Am I to assume this person is digging on me based on a profile picture, or are they actually trying to get me to join a paedophile ring?
― ha ha ha ha jack my swag (boxedjoy), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 09:45 (fourteen years ago)
Personally, I would never respond to a poke, because people who poke are disgusting savages imo, and I would not want to fraternise with them, even virtually. If there is such a thing as poking etiquette, then it can go hang.
― facebook conspiracy theorist (krakow), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 10:13 (fourteen years ago)
More context needed to answer this. Are they the opposite sex? Does your profile say you are single? Could you ask your friend of the pokey friend why they poked you?
― Imagineering since 1850 (captain rosie), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 13:42 (fourteen years ago)
Why do people friend people they don't know?
― Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 13:57 (fourteen years ago)
So they can have like 5,231 friends.
― jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 13:58 (fourteen years ago)
why because you look pretty
― so i had sex with a piñata (mh), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 14:19 (fourteen years ago)
why because they look intersting
― Mark G, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 14:24 (fourteen years ago)
I used to only friend ppl that I had met, but then I started getting a lot of requests from twitter followers. So whatever, I basically accept every thing these days. I have so little personal information on there, it doesn't really matter to me.
