i was in encino friday -- at 113º i went swimming in an 87º pool to cool off and ended up with all sorts of weird breathing trubbles.

my wading pool is too hot to even bother... i take cold showers every hour and stand in front of a fan

I got pretty used to it being in the 110-115º F range, but now it's in the high 80s/late 90s. If it were 5-10º cooler, I would adore it, but as it stands it just feels like the weather is TEASING me. "It could be Fall, but....naw. Haha."

It's October 1, 10:53 PM and it's still 70 degrees. And tomorrow's high is forecasted to be 80. I am ANGRY and I want searing, skin-shattering cold. I have since summer began. I even wanted it in February when we had weeks of record lows.

Believe me, anyone I encounter in the dead soupy heat of summer has their lives in danger.

I complain about too hot when the snow starts to melt. Not being contrary for its own sake, but summer makes me cranky, miserable, and depressed. I stay inside next to the A/C that is cranked to the coldest setting.

Like so many people in Chicago I have radiators with a mind of their own, so even when it's 10 degrees outside, I open the windows and let the wind in.

And fall is my favorite.

Fall is wonderful. Though I don't appreciate how summer is encroaching on it. But in its purest form it is delightful--cool, sometimes sunny, sometimes drizzly, and the smells are the best.

I took a bus from Bloomsbury to Peckham the other day and it broke down at Elephant & Castle and I was carrying a heavy bag and genuinely almost fainted

Transport system will have to install air con (When I went to Florence all buses had it I think)

I usually cope okay with heat and I spent most of the day in nicely air conditioned labs, a half hour on a bus with no AC and a ten minute walk either side was nearly enough to give me heatstroke I think; got the dry heaves soon after getting home, and I’ve been hydrating all day. Seen ppl shirtless, chugging beer & diving into the river & hope that all doesn’t go too badly for them. It’s also the fair tomorrow when ppl come from all over the country to get heroically drunk, thank god it’s gonna be a few degrees cooler cause there’ll be casualties

Found myself using rehydration sachets ie electrolytes and etc which I normally never do but it’s been a long week

Today was lovely when I got up at 5am just after some rain and small bits of thunder.

But even this is a struggle..

Very pleasant in the drizzle at 7am. Hell when that drizzle became humidity at 9am.

Last night at 10pm it was 35 degrees upstairs. Then around midnight there was a massive thunderstorm. I woke up this morning at 6am and it was... 32 degrees upstairs.

Slept with balcony doors open to get some benefit from the fresh air/temperature drop, managed six hours solid, which is loads for me (especially when sleeping under a light throw on top of a made bed). Widget is still a bit miserable but has everything he needs to get through what should be the last of the hotter days.

xp here the rooms are going between 28-30

spent the days in the office to avoid this. today doesn't seem too bad but then i did go walking 2 hours early and am not using a laptop that's too hot to touch for 8 hours

It's pretty warm here, mid-90s and humid, but those temperatures are not totally unusual and there are lots of places to cool off, aside from hiding at home in the A/C. The only real concern (which sometimes also happens) is the strain on the grid snaps and people lose power, but everything seems to be chugging along so far.

The fireworks have been pushed back to 11pm because (REDACTED) is supposed to take the stage at 7pm, which means even tighter security than most years. The forecast calls for a high of 100 degrees and a chance of thunderstorms. What could possibly go wrong?

We had our Canada Day tennis event in Stratford yesterday. One of our best players had to leave her second match because of heat stroke. Personally, I could barely think straight after my fourth match in two hours (25 minutes per, but it was unbearable).

the worst heat I ever experienced in Connecticut was in August 2016 where not only was it near triple digits but the humidity was also amazingly high. It literally felt life threatening to be outside for more than a few minutes.

Actually a perfect few days in London now, got to savour it before a bit more 30C+ next week.
