I'm a landscape architect that works around timber and wood daily. Splinters of normal size are an every day problem. However, ones that are imbedded or healed over, need a doctor's office.
My crew foreman tried to remove a 3" splinter that had gone into his arm and healed over. He went septic and had to be rushed to the hospital, losing a weeks worth of work.
Your life is too precious to play E.R. on yourself.
