Suarez was kinda coming in from the side though, he looked like he was just sort of going for the ball and the player's momentum caused him to be in the way, it wasn't quite like hospital ball 50-50 and he just brutally went through man and ball

Don't think it was reckless though - he got there first, his 'harmful' momentum (i.e. studs) was downwards, he was sufficiently before Suarez that if anything Suarez should've been the one pulling out. I mean it's football, there's going to be some contact and this isn't the same as contact from a foul.

the harmful momentum was from rodwell's knee tbh, the studs are irrelevant here- as is the ball, quite frankly, it's the speed at which rodwell hits suarez having left the ground that gets him a red.

as being all for reds when a player goes in off the ground, regardless of intent for ball or getting the ball. The relevant factors are more, imo, whether you're going to hit another player with force likely to injure, the ball's presence doesn't excuse that imo.
