Yeah, including the scene referenced above where Jesse cooked a batch that suited him, Gus, and the cartel people, so "This batch could be TERRIBLE for all we know!!!" didn't make any sense.

I think all of you should be writers for the show Breaking Bad, you would do a good job at that

uhhhhhh (admrl), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 20:41 (fourteen years ago)

So did Walt get his car repaired overnight, or just splurge for another one just like it?

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 22:40 (fourteen years ago)

Sorry if I'm rehashing any anybody else's points, haven't had time to catch with every post, but:
1. Didn't they have about 3 mil stashed? Even minus $800,000 for the carwash, $615,000 approx for Ted, and if the deluxe family disappearance is only $125,000 x 4= $600,000, plus whatever incidentals since Walt told Skylar how much he'd made this year, they should be okay. At least for the price of the deluxe ultimate family getaway (a bargain, I'd say). Although Walt wants it to be enough to save them all, forever, from his guilt and fear (plus did we mention he and Gus are mad control junkies? I think so)
So was or is Ted. in terms of denial and manipulation. Like Walt and Gus, he's gotta do it his way, and everything will work out. But really *his* way, and I thought that, on a conscious level, he really did consider Walt and Skylor's ill-got gains to be less pure than his own (gotten by getting Skylar to cook the books). But before this ep, I did suspect him of going for blackmail.

dow, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 23:12 (fourteen years ago)

Oh shit, I was just about to ask if the Aztek was finally kaput. Did they show it again after the accident? How many windshields has that thing gone throug

Dan I., Tuesday, 27 September 2011 23:15 (fourteen years ago)

...which means the writers are always at least one step ahead of me. So now I've gone from thinking, "If Jesse would try to quit if Gus killed Walt, surely he'd do the same if anything happened to Walt's wife or (especially) his kids" (remember, Walt and Gus are well aware of Jesse's attachment to a woman and her child)--to thinking, "One way of 'dealing with' Hank, would be to tell Walt something which would have him warning Hank's colleagues, who will keep his restless ass safe at home." But, the writers are always at least one step ahead of me.

dow, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 23:20 (fourteen years ago)

Saul has hired the most inept heavies in the world.

I think he has, the little white guy reminded me of comedy heavy in a 30s movie.

Here´s a thought: Maybe season will end with Walt chuffing his first hit of meth.

1. Didn't they have about 3 mil stashed?

don't remember how much they're handling, but some of it has been laundered through the car wash and is no longer vacuum-bagged readies

robocop last year was a 'shop (sic), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 23:52 (fourteen years ago)

woah woah woah woah woah. was pacing around the room for the last scene there.

i thought the ted storyline was quite clearly brought to a hilarious conclusion - not sure why ppl feel unsatisfied (i thought he was obviously blackmailing her). i wonder why walt decided to try and "disappear" his family rather than just go straight to hank and fess up. probably would be the best thing for him at this point but yeah he crazy. i wouldn't rule out hector finding some way to get revenge on gus by the end of the season. bravo tho, what a show

last scene kinda reminded me of an inverted...

walt's mind rapidly stepping back from the situation and finally realising exactly how fucked he is

P-NASTY (tpp), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 23:52 (fourteen years ago)

the white guy in the a-team was bill burr, decent standup comic that used to do a lot of sketches on chappelle's show

Aren't they also giving a bunch of it to Saul?

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 28 September 2011 00:08 (fourteen years ago)

I thought it came to Walt via Saul

robocop last year was a 'shop (sic), Wednesday, 28 September 2011 00:11 (fourteen years ago)

also they spent a lot on hank's medical bills and rehab

Cars are very important in Breaking Bad

oh absolutely. and one detail i noticed from the scene where walt gets fired is that gus and gus's guys depart the cloudy desert using two different cars (gus takes his volvo, the other guys take whatever the other car was). but once they had gone, there was a third car left -- some crappy white subcompact, presumably for walt to drive himself home in. or, drive most of the way home in, then do a buncha donuts in, then light on fire, as he likes to do.

del griffith, Wednesday, 28 September 2011 00:22 (fourteen years ago)

dow: don't forget hanks' medical bills... pretty sure those have added up to some serious clams

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 28 September 2011 00:23 (fourteen years ago)

That's the car that walt drove to jesse's house you see it next to him when they are talking in the front yard.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 28 September 2011 00:40 (fourteen years ago)

It also crossed my mind that Ted was wearing a wire but that was just because of how he was speaking, and it wouldn't make sense anyway.
I'm sure Hank is gonna get suspicious of Walt sometime soon. I totally knew he was going to crash the car as soon as you saw his face when Hank asked him to go to the laundry. Hank's got time on his hands and is gonna sense something is properly up with Walt, I reckon. I kind of hope not, though, because the show doesn't need that right now.

kinder, Wednesday, 28 September 2011 05:00 (fourteen years ago)

Walt is pretty much going to have to tell him at his point.

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 28 September 2011 06:07 (fourteen years ago)

or just come up with some other insane lie i guess.

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 28 September 2011 06:07 (fourteen years ago)

did anyone else notice the similarity in mannerisms between Walt after Gus told him he'd kill his entire family and Hector during his friendly chats with Gus?

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 28 September 2011 06:12 (fourteen years ago)

No way is Walt going to tell Hank.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 28 September 2011 08:47 (fourteen years ago)

> Aren't they also giving a bunch of it to Saul?

Not to mention that it was Saul that arranged the Beneke shakedown, and knew all about Skyler handing Ted the money. Saul also knows Walter's salary. So Saul should have been aware that Walt was not sitting on the giant cash pile he thought he was.

farlington, Wednesday, 28 September 2011 17:33 (fourteen years ago)

well i dont think saul knows how much money theyve given to hank and marie though, or necessarily about how much money the carwash has lost (which skylar said was losing money iirc)
