are we at the beginning of the end of an era?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

What, me starting voluntarily going shopping, or me turning down free booze? Or something else entirely?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Goodbye, 148.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Where will I go?

: ((((

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Eh? What? Where are you going?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 17:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I used to go to 148, far too often. Maybe now I'll have to go to Spain.

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 17:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Who is having to move out of R3nfr3w Str33t, & why, please?

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

They finally caught up with Khan. Glasgow, find us a beautiful 3 bedroom place by July, please.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 07:03 (twenty-one years ago)

...that is cheap, central and has understanding neighbours...

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 07:34 (twenty-one years ago)

...and at least one warm room.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 07:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Ailsa, I'm being organised and Thursday could be back on - call me!

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 07:35 (twenty-one years ago)

You live on Wenfoo Stweet? I don't know why it has to be in code, but still...

I think, where I would most like to live in Glasgow, now, in my 'middle youth', is in the Merchant City.

Sadly, I believe this is impossible.

I would also like to live in Marlow, I have decided.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 07:46 (twenty-one years ago)

they are building 10000000000 new flats, every day, in the merchant city, PJ.

unfortunately, all 10000000000 of them cost 10000000000 pounds, probably.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Nah, the new ones are all for students (probably the ones who will have to live there once they've sold off Jordanhill). I live in Merchant City East, according to some estate agents.

I am waiting to find out when I can Try Dublin More.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 08:59 (twenty-one years ago)

It was the students I was hoping to avoid. I will have to think again.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Now I want a house. Probably in Portland.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

miller is moving to glasgow?
i'll find you guys a new flat. i've already spotted a few contenders.
you can even get a house - including 'bathroom with shoer' - for a measly 525 a month! in beautiful milngavie.. muahahaha
i'm watching a fascinating show about a sausage competition... ah, the joys of daytime television. just killing time till i can edit those all important letters. why haven't i gotten any from you???
'for keith it's sausage heartache. it's alan who takes home the bacon...'

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 10:44 (twenty-one years ago)

No, I'm not moving to Glasgow. I am just idly speculating on where I'd like to live if I did. But I'm not. I doubt I ever will. But I wouldn't mind, all else being equal. Which it isn't.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

are they tearing 148 down?

just when you find out nitsuh lives below you, too.

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm tearing up.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

PJ's last post=the 3000th

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Madchen, I tried but failed to get a picture of Bonzo. BONZO!

Glasgow missed an excellent evening of pervy men in bed in their kilts, free booze, women who looked like they had been drawn by Terry Gilliam, slimy bruschetta, Miss Marple hats, Wee Andra from Rab C Nesbitt, Paul Young (the fishing one, not the Love Will Tear Us Apart murdering one), drunken cheque wielding and racist cartoons. Antique fairs RULE! (also free booze and men with little sausages)

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

What the fuck are you talking about! That lot were exhibiting themselves; in their kilts; in bed!

Do you mean BONZO from LED ZEP?

KeefW (kmw), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry about the language; I am enjoying being mildly drunk.

KeefW (kmw), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Hooray! Me 3000th!

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 13 May 2005 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

No, I mean a little dog called Bonzo. That I can't find a picture of on the internet. I am in love. With a little blue doleful pottery dog.

A man was exhibiting a bed by being in it, in a kilt, and pointing out (to anyone who wasn't scared off) a video that he had playing continually in his little stall of him on telly with Nicki Chapman talking about furniture. He was really really creepy.

I had a thought about Glasgow last night whilst walking over the wee metal bridge that's next to the Bells Bridge and that thought was that I DIDN'T RECOGNISE GLASGOW ANY MORE. It kind of freaked me out, all these swanky flats and shiny buildings and regeneration projects. I looked around and if it hadn't been for the Finnieston crane and the top of the University tower, I could have been anywhere and it didn't feel like home.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 13 May 2005 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I have been rereading this thread. It was funny, in late February and maybe March 2004. I'm not saying it's not now. Or that it is.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 14 May 2005 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Matthew Dear was rubbish/relentless/dull - crazy techno people too. i've got such a bloody headache. is anyone wanting to see Lindstrom tonight? i think i can get people on teh guest list, just holler!

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 14 May 2005 13:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I thought you said that was Sunday.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 14 May 2005 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway, it's not. I would like to go, in a way, but on the other hand I am feeling somewhat ropey. I think, on balance, no.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 14 May 2005 13:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel a bit dopey

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 14 May 2005 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

you rang?

I have an exam in edinburgh tomorrow.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 08:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, so that's why you're coming. Maybe it is a bad idea to try Aberdeen, on balance. Perhaps we should concentrate on EUROVISION PARTY instead. It is the 50th one!

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh, Eurovision Party Please!

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

fancy dress.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I have already been invited to one.

So ner.

I shall not attend.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

an obvious choice of party, for you, I think. what's your platform?

two crossposts

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

who can teach me evidence?

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I think you know enough--it's usually very easy to tell what you're thinking.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

The Eurovision can fuck off. I want Aberdeen.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

So more Alba, less Eorpa?

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

More Eeyore less Haw-Haw.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

The early stages of senility are difficult to come to terms with.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

My wife's got no nose.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)
