haha oh you didn't know the name of the character already

i will pay you to make her "it's jess!" theme song into your ringtone

omg DO IT

sick yr finger up his butt (DJP), Monday, 19 September 2011 18:54 (fourteen years ago)

I saw She & Him a year or so ago, a big outdoor show, packed, and all night I kept asking people to name three movies she was in. The response was always " Elf, 500 Days of Summer .... uh ..." Every once in a while someone would mention "Almost Famous," or "Hitchhiker's Guide." But for someone a) famous and b) who has been in a lot of movies, it's hard to say just what movies have made her famous.

Am I the only one who saw The Go-Getter? It was, uh, kind of cute if you like that sort of thing.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Monday, 19 September 2011 19:20 (fourteen years ago)

i seriously don't understand why my perfectly harmless name keeps getting dragged into terrible twee television comedies.

this is a sign that you should start wearing babydoll tees and taping barrettes to your head

sick yr finger up his butt (DJP), Monday, 19 September 2011 19:24 (fourteen years ago)

I think it's because your name is "jess" iirc

O_O

Drew Barrymore was the last iteration of this we had, wasn't she

sick yr finger up his butt (DJP), Monday, 19 September 2011 19:38 (fourteen years ago)

Ben Gibbard is Bono. He is not Eric Erlandson or Fabrizio Moretti.

Zooey D is a little like someone merged Drew Barrymore and Juliette Lewis and then gave the resulting paste offspring a trucker hat with fairy wings

Starting off with her talking about horror movies for the BIG EYES LOL

Telephoneface (Adam Bruneau), Monday, 19 September 2011 20:45 (fourteen years ago)

Just made it to the theme song (which she sings!) and then it cut to a commercial and i thought "Do i want to watch 45 seconds of commercials to see the rest of this show" and I was like nah.....

i am married to a Cute American and do not hate all adult women who are openly engaged in Cute interests and personal habits. my distaste for ZD has more to do with her lousy music, played out fashion sense, unremarkable acting, mostly terrible acting projects, blank personality and puzzling belief that she has comedic talent.

tempted to say she didn't really enter public consciousness until 500days, when she became the entire pursuit of the movie

same way i didn't give a damn about cameron diaz until There's Something About Mary. sometimes you just need a leading role, even if the leading role isn't a leading one at all and you just play some cute, innocent shmo-shmo who the audience develops a pseduo-obsession with because seemingly so many ppl in this movie are doing the same

The show wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Well, her character at least. I'm all about making up songs for my dogs. Her awkward moments ranged from lame to funny. I'll probably watch another episode

that's cute, but it's WRONG (CaptainLorax), Wednesday, 21 September 2011 07:29 (fourteen years ago)

making up songs for your dogs is regrettably not all you are about.

estela, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 08:57 (fourteen years ago)

i just saw this on an airplane too. not that bad, zd's character is more believable and likable than i was expecting. there was srsly 0% "hipster" content.

but most of the humor is based on "LOL CHICKS/LOL DUDES". no real desire to see another episode, but that's based more on how i don't really enjoy most sitcoms.

 (gr8080), Wednesday, 21 September 2011 12:33 (fourteen years ago)

had already watched the pilot on demand barely paying attention, ended up rewatching some of it while waiting for Raising Hope to start and it was better than i remembered (or noticed) the first time. but a lot of that owes to the guys in the cast, and a lot of that owes to the guy that only did that one episode and then ended up in Happy Endings.

some dude, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 12:35 (fourteen years ago)

i dunno if this show was ever pitched as being hipstery or about hipsters tbh -- just a lot of magazine profiles going COULD THE NEXT BIG TV STAR BE MRS. DEATH CAB? etc

I make up songs for the dog on a daily basis p much.

Ha true. The most recent was 'He's a woofer" set to the theme of "He's a Rebel" cause he was being noisy and wouldn't shut up. I had hoped my singing would soothe and quiet him. It did not.

ha this is OTM, I am very sad to see DWJr leave the cast

I wonder if they are going to do anything with the whole "we have two new roommates but the show is going to focus on the famous one" scenario they've set themselves up for.

in the fall tv thread i believe i suggested the title change "The New Girl, The New Black Guy And A Pizza Place"

ha yeah, I saw that

I was mad that I couldn't find a link to the theme song yesterday to torture strongo but searching "new girl theme song" today has been a bonanza

The pilot is pretty funny, certainly stronger than, say any random episode of "Happy Endings" (which I like)

yeah honestly its not really 'annoying' just sorta 'mediocre'
