It feels like United have had far more chances in this half than the first

Neither big nor clever (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:42 (fourteen years ago)

Fuck's sake what can you say about that though?

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:43 (fourteen years ago)

Car crash moment of all time. I hate Chelsea but I can't enjoy that,

Upt0eleven, Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:43 (fourteen years ago)

Chelsea been very poor this half.

Can't keep possession with Lampard.

If Ronny Rosenthal's one is ever shown again he can feel aggrieved now.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:45 (fourteen years ago)

hey, let's not forget Wazzer's penalty folks.

isn't house rubbish and Pete W mental (Pete W), Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:46 (fourteen years ago)

Pfft, the penalty was a tough chance tbf

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:48 (fourteen years ago)

Game of misses.

isn't house rubbish and Pete W mental (Pete W), Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:48 (fourteen years ago)

Torres was struggling to keep his momentum in check as he took the shot, Rosenthal's had a sort of inexplicable, cheated-by-god quality to it, but Torres was so close to goal he's probably gonna have to get the nod to be laughed at by future generations

MPx4A, Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:50 (fourteen years ago)

Chelsea been very poor this half.

― isn't house rubbish and Pete W mental (Pete W), Sunday, 18 September 2011 17:44 (9 minutes ago)

nah they've done alright, playing a sort of 4-2-4 and intermittently looking p dangerous

0-1 for the half too

diouf est le papa du foot galsen merde lè haters (nakhchivan), Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:54 (fourteen years ago)

isn't there a Giggs open goal miss from somewhere in the 90s that's up there w/ old Ronnie?

only listening to the radio where everything tends to get exaggerated but I'm p pumped for this Torres miss now

the wrong terry to fuckwit (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:58 (fourteen years ago)

I don't even think Chelsea played badly. They would have had three but for two of the worst misses ever and had some good periods, but United are just utterly rampant at the moment and could have got eight again (instead of spending the whole second half conjuring ever more surprising ways of failing to get a fourth goal).

Neither big nor clever (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:59 (fourteen years ago)

Re: Giggs miss - no, that was FA Cup match against Arsenal in 2003. IIRC he missed an open goal, but he was at the edge of the 18-yard box, not in the same league as Torres today

Neither big nor clever (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 18 September 2011 17:02 (fourteen years ago)

I've been totally thrown by that, I haven't been able to concentrate on anything since. That's the worst thing I've seen in football, and it was totally otherworldly too - how he'd played well, found himself alone, glided past de Gea, everything just stopped ... and then that.

For two of the best three teams in England and probably the top 10 or so in Europe that wasn't half hilarious. I thought that Torres looked like he didn't want to celebrate too much after his goal but was quietly going "fuck yeah!" but any good work would have been undone by the later misses. I hope the Chelsea fans were singing "you're just a shit John Terry" after Rooney's miss.

Chelsea look weird and schizophrenic. I've never seen an Abramovich Chelsea team get muscled off the ball to such an extent, so many times they were just sleeping for a United player to pick their pocket and mount an attack. Mata, Mereiles, there's the beginnings of a great attacking force in there but Lampard feels like a waste of a position now and the front line is going to be a massive problem. Also why is Malouda now consistently on the bench?

De Gea was good today, I thought.

Thought Liverpool looked terrible and Spurs looked great, if slightly complacent once they went down to 10 men, let alone 9. Liverpool don't really have the players to hassle good passing teams in midfield and the result was a lot of clumsy hamfisted fouling. Suarez had a bit of an off-day for which we could feel grateful, surprised Dalglish didn't bring Bellamy on earlier, he's the sort of player we hate playing against.

Difficult to say how good Spurs are at the moment - two thumpings, two comfortable wins. If we'd played Everton and won we'd be in fourth. We *should*, with Friedel, Parker and Adebayor, be loads better than last season. I suppose if you're going to get smashed twice in a row you should do it at the beginning of the season so you're well aware of your weaknesses. Either way, I'm not sure Lennon deserves to be back in the team, we've been better since we stopped trying to force five players into four positions. Still, Modric's goal made me so happy, and his reaction made me even happier.

Has there ever been a photo taken of a crowd that doesn't make the fans look like utter cocks?

Not sure about 'United could have got eight'. 4-3 would have been fairer and am quietly pleased about many aspect of that performance (including Torres, who I am very critical of but was best forward on pitch by a distance). think AVB is on to something, but it'll take time.

United playing heavily on confidence, unsure how they will respond when something goes against them. Don't think we'll finish many points apart, either way.

two thumpings from the two best teams before we had strengthened at cf and with a pseudo midfield.

r|t|c, Monday, 19 September 2011 09:24 (fourteen years ago)

does that make Steve Bould worth more than 150/1 because... free money?

What is Pelligrini up to these days? Still kicking around pretending to give a fuck at Malaga?

Ravaging Rick Rude (a hoy hoy), Monday, 19 September 2011 09:55 (fourteen years ago)

Arsenal should absolutely NOT follow Wenger's personal recommendation on this one

Ismael Klata, Monday, 19 September 2011 09:55 (fourteen years ago)

Replacing Wenger with Domenech would be like replacing Fabregas with Arteta or Nasri with Benayoun.

Matt DC, Monday, 19 September 2011 09:55 (fourteen years ago)

If we still only have four points after eight games get 'arry in to do a job.

James Mitchell, Monday, 19 September 2011 09:56 (fourteen years ago)

FUCK I'd LOVE to see Piksi Stojkovic at the Emirates...a childhood hero

Until it goes tits up

Master of Treacle, Monday, 19 September 2011 10:02 (fourteen years ago)

Replacing Wenger with Domenech would be like replacinhg Fabregas with Dioufy

Harsh on Diofy there

Juice Should Be Sterliized (Tom D.), Monday, 19 September 2011 10:45 (fourteen years ago)
