Because it's so unsubtle an invocation of the cliched blue-eyed-deer-in-headlights gamine look? And the way it lights her caked-on make-up is super unflattering, almost surreal?

The eyes look unnaturally blue, but other than that I think she looks great in that photo, regardless of which cliches she invokes tbh

Had to put up with this as required viewing of this week's flights. Couldn't bear to turn up tge volume, but seriously just looked like mind-meltingly hott chick with awesome perfect hair wears black-rimmed "nerd" glasses and lives with three brahs yet has issues.

Apparently in this universe, Nerve.com never broke wide online dating so she has apparently no recourse but to suffer thru life as no dude could possibly handle her "quirks"

NB I love a lot of cute things and am unapologetically guilty of at least a couple things in the article and take issue with some of the points therein. That said, I think it makes a couple good ones and is perhaps relevant here.

See I guess I've always thought of her as more cringe-inducingly "quirky" than cringe-inducingly "child-like".

Sadly I know more than one irl female over the age of 28 that would probably say something similar.

1) she is very attractive
2) she was pretty ace in Almost Famous. Perhaps the best thing about it besides F. McDormand.
3) literally everything else i've seen her in (which is admittedly not much) has been aggressively mediocre to outright terrible

I would like to reiterate:

I really have no opinion on her at all. I think AF and ELF are the only things I've ever seen her in and she was OK, I guess. Never listened to her band. She's very pretty in a very non-threatening way which is fine. I just immediately thought of that article when reading through this thread.

I saw her in "Hitchhiker's Guide", or rather I saw about 24 minutes of it and she was in it somewhere. I don't remember ever seeing her in anything else. Non-threatening pretty?
