List of cities ending in "-ca", page 1 of 277
― fear itself (Ówen P.), Monday, 19 September 2011 19:54 (fourteen years ago)
I have no clue. Vegetation suggests mid-northern latitude + European street signs + non-British architecture + English signage.
― fear itself (Ówen P.), Monday, 19 September 2011 19:56 (fourteen years ago)
It's not an English speaking country

No

is it france?
― caek, Monday, 19 September 2011 21:38 (fourteen years ago)
France would never have a "Port Of" sign anywhere
― fear itself (Ówen P.), Monday, 19 September 2011 21:46 (fourteen years ago)
The 'of' is confusing if it's not English-speaking. Maybe it's part of another word? Like Port Officiel de Nice. Is it Nice?
― Ismael Klata, Monday, 19 September 2011 21:49 (fourteen years ago)
Good point. But that statue looks vaguely communist
― fear itself (Ówen P.), Monday, 19 September 2011 21:53 (fourteen years ago)
I'd guess that it's a former Yugoslavian country

― em vee equals pea queue (Michael White), Monday, 19 September 2011 22:46 (fourteen years ago)
Actually a good clue if you can see it.
― em vee equals pea queue (Michael White), Monday, 19 September 2011 22:48 (fourteen years ago)
So it does end in -ca?
― fear itself (Ówen P.), Monday, 19 September 2011 23:08 (fourteen years ago)
There are no former Soviet cities of note that end in -ca except the "non port" city of Ganca, Azerbaijan. I still think it's former Yugoslav
― fear itself (Ówen P.), Monday, 19 September 2011 23:15 (fourteen years ago)
Those two letters could be Cyrillic - Odessa? - though that wouldn't explain why it's Latin on the other side of the gate.
― Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 20 September 2011 06:31 (fourteen years ago)
After five minutes of googling, and not having verified via actually looking at any pics of the place, I have uncovered that Zadar has a port called Gazenica. Is it that?
― ailsa, Tuesday, 20 September 2011 06:50 (fourteen years ago)
It is Odessa. The signs are in English and Russian.

It's the colour of Aberdeen but it's not British. The white-on-black registration plates are like the old Portuguese ones, but the buildings are too plain for Portugal. The Agfa shop spells Kosmetic with a K and there seems to be a Kzny... above it, so maybe Poland?
― Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 20 September 2011 09:09 (fourteen years ago)
it is poland

Poznan's got a plain and kind-of-grim pedestrian street a bit like that. They're not very similar in layout, but that might be the other end?
― Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 20 September 2011 10:04 (fourteen years ago)
Lodz? (License plate begins with LF.)
