Yeah, there have been minibuses organised from Mono to Platform for all the gigs that I've been to there. I prefer to cycle the wild east!
― just call me brian (krakow), Thursday, 8 September 2011 21:17 (fourteen years ago)
so yesterday we got to Mono about 6pm, bought our tickets and decided to have something to eat. The place was virtually empty, but somehow we still had to wait 40 minutes for our food to arrive (and these were not complicated dishes.) When it did finally turn up there was no apology or explanation (and my food was mediocre at best.) NEVER AGAIN, 13th Note HELLO
― Ward Fowler, Monday, 12 September 2011 10:04 (fourteen years ago)
i stopped going there a long time ago. the staff are so fkng rude.
― jed_, Monday, 12 September 2011 12:36 (fourteen years ago)
I'm going there right this minute (I live an egg-throw away). I always find the staff very pleasant, but they can be incompetent. You'd wait a long time for a drink if it was busy, but Mono isn't often very busy.

'Sounding A Different Way' - a fascinating, thought-provoking and amusing film by Ben Ewart-Dean, Fergus Lawrie & Neil Simpson about noise, sound & marginal music in Scotland...

I wholly recommend it.
― gay for gordon-levitt (krakow), Friday, 7 October 2011 21:23 (fourteen years ago)
so who's left who hasn't joined the brain drain (or gone back home)!?

― jed_, Monday, 16 January 2012 23:43 (fourteen years ago)
i live in glasgow.

Hi dere from between Paisley and Glasgow!
― ailsa, Monday, 16 January 2012 23:56 (fourteen years ago)
(are me and Tom D the paisley posse?)
― ailsa, Monday, 16 January 2012 23:57 (fourteen years ago)
i meant you and your man, i didn't know you were between x
― jed_, Monday, 16 January 2012 23:58 (fourteen years ago)
Ah, got you. Yes, we've not actually lived in Paisley for over ten years, but use it for shopping and pubbage because Renfrew is bad.
― ailsa, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 00:02 (fourteen years ago)
the last two times i've visited home i've come back to london viciously ill, i think i'm now allergic to the west of scotland. :'(
― sunn :o))) (Merdeyeux), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 08:16 (fourteen years ago)

shall prob be attending the next arika wankfest at the tramway (keiji hanio solo vox perf, hardcore!)
― Ward Fowler, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 10:13 (fourteen years ago)
Still very much here. Let's all meet up one night...
― only NWOFHM! is real (krakow), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 10:39 (fourteen years ago)
I don't give a care as to where, so if long-standing distastes of certain venues persevere then someone call a new one... how about Heavenly? I've not been there, but would like to try it...
http://heavenlyglasgow.co.uk/
― only NWOFHM! is real (krakow), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 10:52 (fourteen years ago)
Ward, that can easily be arranged!
I like Heavenly, because a city centre bar where you can get change out of three quid for a pint of Guinness without being surrounded by muttering jakies is something of a rarity.
Can this wait until early February? I have a lot of January left with v little pay packet to cover it.
― ailsa, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 10:58 (fourteen years ago)
excellent, thanks ailsa! am also skint for the next month or so, but will be in touch after that...
and a Heavenly FAP sounds a good idea (a friend of mine has been there for an indie pop pub quiz or two, am sure an ILX Krew wld Klean up!)
― Ward Fowler, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 11:08 (fourteen years ago)
That would be good with me too, I'm really busy with photographing at the moment.
I've heard positive things about Heavenly. I believe that Bubblegum Records are involved to some degree.
― only NWOFHM! is real (krakow), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 11:09 (fourteen years ago)
I will be in town on 11th Feb at lunchtime - could manage a couple before you go off to the ICT match?
― Sugary pee is not normal (aldo), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 11:21 (fourteen years ago)
Me and a mate are regular second-placers in the indie quiz.
Ward, Celtic don't have a home game until mid-Feb anyway. I will warn you in advance that we sit so far away from the pitch that you may need breathing apparatus and a set of binoculars.
xpost, yes 11th Feb to be precise. I say yay to pint with aldo.
― ailsa, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 11:24 (fourteen years ago)
I'll be working on Saturday 11th Feb, but could nip out on my break for an hour or so, depending on the time. Would be fun.
― only NWOFHM! is real (krakow), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 11:26 (fourteen years ago)
Cool, a pint with aldo and then a football match sounds like a grand day out.
― Ward Fowler, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 11:32 (fourteen years ago)
I shall investigate tickets up our bit of the stadium - there'll be plenty scope for moving a few rows or seats away as ICT games won't attract too much of a walk-up crowd unless we sign someone proper good in the transfer window that people want to see.
― ailsa, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 11:36 (fourteen years ago)
(n.b. that is not going to happen)
― ailsa, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 11:37 (fourteen years ago)
Newbie question - what's an ICT game??
― Ward Fowler, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 11:50 (fourteen years ago)
Supercaleygoballistic etc
― Then in walked Barbara Castle with the Lady Eleanor (Tom D.), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 11:53 (fourteen years ago)
TY, sounds exactly the right fixture for me, think I have to work my way up to an Old Firm game (only ground I've been to in Scotland = Cappielow Park)
― Ward Fowler, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 11:57 (fourteen years ago)
Yikes
― Then in walked Barbara Castle with the Lady Eleanor (Tom D.), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 11:57 (fourteen years ago)
Never been to a football match in my life.
― only NWOFHM! is real (krakow), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 12:02 (fourteen years ago)
Things to do in 2012, Krakow!
― Ward Fowler, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 12:04 (fourteen years ago)
tbh don't mind going to the match myself.
― Sugary pee is not normal (aldo), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 12:13 (fourteen years ago)
What a shame that I'll be working.
― only NWOFHM! is real (krakow), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 12:14 (fourteen years ago)
Celtic v Rangers games - vastly over-rated, usually a terrible game, 90 minutes of shiting myself that the stadium is going to fall down.
― ailsa, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 12:38 (fourteen years ago)
Surprised and pleased to be included in jed's roll call considering I rarely post on ilx. I would be very tempted to turn up at a Glasgow FAP - not this month though, for the same reason others have given.
― Eyeball Kicks, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 21:21 (fourteen years ago)
Nice bit of propaganda for Weegies. The study was written by my brother's girlfriend, but she's not biased, oh no.
― Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Thursday, 19 January 2012 13:50 (fourteen years ago)
I had done a quick scan of the thread prior to posting sorry i missed Jim or he was hidden!
I'm definitely up for a drink in february.
― jed_, Thursday, 19 January 2012 21:25 (fourteen years ago)
I would say are there any plans yet given it's next weekend, but I know what Glasgow's like.
― Aunt Acid and the Gaviscons (aldo), Saturday, 4 February 2012 16:34 (fourteen years ago)
I just remembered about this last night! I am v. skint, but am up for moderate amounts of boozing.
― ailsa, Saturday, 4 February 2012 16:36 (fourteen years ago)
up for't.
― jed_, Saturday, 4 February 2012 16:46 (fourteen years ago)
Are we going to the match y/n?
I guess the best place for a pint is somewhere handy for krakow to nip out to at lunchtime. Since I don't know where he works and haven't been out in Glasgow for maybe a couple of years then somebody call it. Noon?
― Aunt Acid and the Gaviscons (aldo), Saturday, 4 February 2012 16:51 (fourteen years ago)
krakow works near qn street station iirc.
oh is this a football thing?
― jed_, Saturday, 4 February 2012 16:54 (fourteen years ago)
Doesn't have to be - I'm not bothered either way. I had assumed ailsa and/or onimo would be going to watch the rematch of today but that was more of a guess than anything else.
― Aunt Acid and the Gaviscons (aldo), Saturday, 4 February 2012 16:59 (fourteen years ago)
Not necessarily football for everyone - onimo and I (and maybe aldo?) are going to the football that afternoon, hence early start in pub. Ward F had mentioned about maybe joining us, but I don't know if that's happening.
xpost
― ailsa, Saturday, 4 February 2012 17:01 (fourteen years ago)
Krakow, how long do you get for lunch and how near your work would you like us?
― ailsa, Saturday, 4 February 2012 18:25 (fourteen years ago)
... there are very few decent pubs near krakow's work, it's Wetherspoon central, mostly.
― ailsa, Saturday, 4 February 2012 18:26 (fourteen years ago)
Saying that, Wetherspoon = cheap real ales + very real likelihood of seats.
― ailsa, Saturday, 4 February 2012 18:27 (fourteen years ago)
The vale is alright iirc.
― zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Saturday, 4 February 2012 18:38 (fourteen years ago)
I like the Vale, but (1) don't see it as fap-friendly and (2) doesn't it get quite busy before Celtic games? It is approx 10000000000 x better than the shithole next door.
― ailsa, Saturday, 4 February 2012 18:46 (fourteen years ago)
How about Heavenly? I can take an hour & that's not far at all; I'm a fast walker.
