SAVE THE DATE

Ravaging Rick Rude (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 06:40 (fourteen years ago)

The content of Benitez’s website will provide a vehicle for communication with fans by giving details of his biography, career and records achieved at all of the clubs he has managed, as well as giving up to date information on his interviews and thoughts on football.

Via his blog he will be writing in-depth technical articles with his thoughts on current trends or matters of interest in football.

Hope he has outsourced this to P McNulty.

rafabenitez.com begins its journey

The official website of the coach from Madrid is launched today in Paris

During the double announcement of the website and the partnership of RB and Eurosport, Benitez took part in a TV programme sharing views with Arsene Wenger, also an expert commentator for the worldwide sports channel, and addressed a strong contingent of journalists representing their respective media.

Is La Liga better than the Premier League?

My first impression, and whenever I have been asked this question I have been convinced of this, is that the Premier League is quicker and has bigger physical demands than the Spanish championship, and that La Liga is more technical and tactical.

Rafa bringing the insight.

darraghmac is Siralec AICMFP:

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson saw a picture of former Liverpool boss Benitez during an interview in an Italian newspaper office and said: “He is jobless and he is not my friend.”

Must have tried picking up his wallet imho.

I'd heard it was a shoulder strain sustained while patting himself on the back

all good stuff

hipstery nayme (darraghmac), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 10:59 (fourteen years ago)

bless him, nobody gives a fuck cos he's shit and a cunt.

I like you, and I don't know if this "A+ trolling", but seriously, lay off. Regardless of what you think of his tactics, he's a good man. Perhaps you should watch the reception he received at the last Hillsborough Memorial Service for an indication of how highly he is thought of in this city. Then maybe you'll refrain from calling the man "a cunt". Leaving this thread for a while before I say something I regret.

Chris, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 13:13 (fourteen years ago)

Right, fair enough.

I think we can accept that, none of us knowing him personally, our perceptions of Rafa Benitez the man are all to be taken with a large pinch of salt- that's either in positive aspect (I feel that we'd all be popular at Hillsborough events if we were serving or previous Liverpool managers) or negative (his public persona, for many neutrals or opposition fans is clearly at the very best 'divisive').

I'd always take this as understood, which is why I wouldn't bat an eyelid at the things you read perfectly normal people like yr avg ilxor saying dreadful things (yes, like 'he's a cunt') on ie ILF about y'know people we essentially know nothing about. It's internet messageboard guff. I don't take it seriously. I wouldn't lean over a dinnertable to the gent in question and pssst yer a cunt at him, y'know?

Furthermore, while admitting we know nothing about him, really, the man is a celebrity with a publc persona. With that territory comes adulation undeserved and hyperbolic vitriol equally so. It's kind of a 'thing' and again, not having a go at you but [whiney]ffs it's just football messageboard shitetalk[/whiney]

I'm sure Benitez would treat my anonymous internet opinion with the appropriate contempt. Part of the fun is that these are perfectly weightless opinions- they're not painted on his bathroom wall, y'know?

I wouldn't want to fall out with anyone over this kind of thing, basically- yourself and ronan get kinda irate in defence of Rafa, and I know his antics get me and others nicely riled up, but jesus lads it's only the internet.

hipstery nayme (darraghmac), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 14:04 (fourteen years ago)

so. many. board. descriptions. this being my favourite:

I wouldn't lean over a dinnertable to the gent in question and pssst yer a cunt at him

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 14:11 (fourteen years ago)

careful you'll get pleasant plains in here

Chris- i'm not trying to tell you what should or shouldn't annoy you, cos that'd be aggravatory of me. Just trying to make you see it in the way it's intended, ok not exactly lighthearted banter but it's fairly non-consequential nonsense in an obscure corner of the net- if it was ever gonna hurt rafa i'd probably stop. Probably.

hipstery nayme (darraghmac), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 14:19 (fourteen years ago)

If i had a quid for every time someone on here called Fergie a cunt...

Number None, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 14:20 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, but fair comment surely?

Euripides Trousers (Tom D.), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 14:21 (fourteen years ago)

bites the eads of whippets

hipstery nayme (darraghmac), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 14:28 (fourteen years ago)

the nasri insults were funnier than the rafa one but i don't know if this is because nasri is more a wanker than rafa is a cunt (if at all, etc.)

or maybe there's more imagination at work with the hand, visualising nasri wanking etc.

felt bad fergie got kicked in a balls, but i had a giggle when i imagined what his face looked like when he got a low blow.

sorry this isn't the "retarded" thread.

take out the quote marks though.

t'was aye

Gary Numan, or Gary Fletcher (ken c), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 14:52 (fourteen years ago)

Actually think I would have to be riled to call ferguson a cunt, tho usually i'm drunk when I post things along the road to the cunt district so perhaps I actually get there and forget the next day.

I do think rafa is actually a good man, he didn't have to get as involved in hillsborough as he has and he speaks out about it a lot even still.

LocalGarda, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 15:54 (fourteen years ago)

i'm sure he's grand, y'know. His one-one interviews seem a lot more laid back and goid-humoured, but you have to admit the ammo is there in a lot of his other public dealings. Arguments for and against, like anyone tbf. I'm good with kids and grannies, like.

hipstery nayme (darraghmac), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 16:02 (fourteen years ago)

cunty imo

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 16:46 (fourteen years ago)

Sorry about that, Darragh. I'm a bit sensitive at the moment; one of our 'legends' recently raised the possibility that some Liverpool supporters may have been to blame for Hillsborough. The same legend who quipped "Perhaps we can get back to the football" on Truth Day in 2007, and only yesterday made a sly comment about Rafa, having used Hillsborough to attack him and turn the fans against him last year. Fed up and pissed off, but no excuse.

hipstery nayme (darraghmac), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 17:15 (fourteen years ago)

Mark Lawrenson.

Chris, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 17:17 (fourteen years ago)

deems' rafa hate is one of the most inexplicably unhinged vendettas of his

he gives the impression of being a nice enough chap but very easily riled when trying to conduct a publicity war in a second language

i dislike the way his teams play football but i dont think his extreme micromanagement and weird pettiness are enough to hate him

diouf est le papa du foot galsen merde lè haters (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 17:18 (fourteen years ago)

lawrenson is a catty lil bitch

diouf est le papa du foot galsen merde lè haters (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 17:18 (fourteen years ago)

what can i say, one thing i demand is expansiveness

hipstery nayme (darraghmac), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 17:22 (fourteen years ago)

lawrenson has a damp and manky teatowel where his brain should be

hipstery nayme (darraghmac), Wednesday, 7 September 2011 17:24 (fourteen years ago)

"Why can’t the government just say ‘right, here are the facts, here are all the papers,’ and then just let the people make their minds up? Maybe there are lots of people to blame, maybe there are Liverpool supporters to blame, Stephen, and if there are, well, they have to deal with those consequences, but we just basically want to know the truth.”

what lawrenson actually said fyi.

can't believe number none posted that blackburn bullshit, that's a fergie and allardyce slur, not a rafa one. what a total load of shit that was!

LocalGarda, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 18:34 (fourteen years ago)
