I forgot to mention I'm hooked on this show. I can't believe I only started watching it now. Oh, all the wasted hours I could've been watching this!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 6 May 2004 20:49 (twenty years ago) link

Complicating matters is that I think this show sucks.

NA (Nick A.), Thursday, 6 May 2004 20:50 (twenty years ago) link

she has to live with mommy because stepdad threatened to ruin her father if she didn't. although with stepdad's legal problems now I don't see how he has any leverage.

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 6 May 2004 21:00 (twenty years ago) link

Watched this just once last month. The debutante ep where Marissa's dad gets punched out by Irate Money-Owed-To Guy. Thought it was mondo average, reckoned they should crossover with Dawson. Or Gilmore Girls.

The worst part is Mischa helped make Lawn Dogs one of my most cherished movies of the last decade. But this is not right.

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 6 May 2004 21:02 (twenty years ago) link

mondo average

That's actually a very good description of The OC.

morris pavilion (samjeff), Thursday, 6 May 2004 21:04 (twenty years ago) link

You say GG or Dawson's crossover like it was a bad thing!

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Thursday, 6 May 2004 21:09 (twenty years ago) link

Thx, morris.

I like Lorelei, but GG committed the heinous sin of hiring professional teenage twunt, Milo Ventimigliavenus or whatever it is. As for DC, I still only treasure Dawson and Jen.

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 6 May 2004 21:14 (twenty years ago) link

She was actually kind of good as the lesbian interest on Once and Again (thanks for C. for that). If I am remebering correctly, she dismayed a smidgeon of personality during her brief tenure on that show?

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 6 May 2004 21:41 (twenty years ago) link

Did I coach her on being a lesbian interest?

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 6 May 2004 21:43 (twenty years ago) link

I believe that is what they retained you for.)

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 6 May 2004 21:47 (twenty years ago) link

fembot girl always looks sleepy in photos

i do think her face has a harsh kind of beauty though, and she has funny sharp teeth à la sarah polley

amateur!st (amateurist), Friday, 7 May 2004 06:29 (twenty years ago) link

i love those kind of teeth! seriously

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 7 May 2004 14:42 (twenty years ago) link

ESPN.com's Bill Simmons/'The Sports Guy' bashes Friends and praises the OC on yesterday's Page 2.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Saturday, 8 May 2004 06:17 (twenty years ago) link

amateur!!st, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:21 (nineteen years ago) link

Bring back the wrath of Julie Cooper!!

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:22 (nineteen years ago) link

I've been thinking about this show lately, too... come back, "OC"!

morris pavilion (samjeff), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:23 (nineteen years ago) link

cºzen (Cozen), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:23 (nineteen years ago) link

amateur!!st, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:23 (nineteen years ago) link

I got all verklempt

all in formal wear

I can see this show
dealing with some deep dark things...
then again, no way

(phantom planet, from their first record, theme-wise)

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:24 (nineteen years ago) link

I hate US ilxors, what with their season 3 pinings and their their complicated shoes.

cºzen (Cozen), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:27 (nineteen years ago) link

wait a minute.. there's no one tree hill in the u.k., is there?

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:31 (nineteen years ago) link

um, there is on E4 (sattelite-only) I think.

cºzen (Cozen), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:32 (nineteen years ago) link

cºzen (Cozen), Friday, 27 August 2004 16:10 (nineteen years ago) link

seth and rory from g.g. is one of the cover of some teen magazine this week, so i discovered at border's yesterday

amateur!!st, Friday, 27 August 2004 16:12 (nineteen years ago) link

my reactions watching this show are basically two-fold: i. woah (those eyebrows or one of the 1000 moments of drama in these kids' lives) and ii. you so dreamy!

cºzen (Cozen), Friday, 27 August 2004 16:18 (nineteen years ago) link

When can I kick Ryan's ass?

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:54 (nineteen years ago) link

i read that as "lick"

amateur!!st, Friday, 27 August 2004 19:55 (nineteen years ago) link

Ha ha cozen I want Seth's babies too.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Saturday, 28 August 2004 06:47 (nineteen years ago) link

new episodes in November (in the US).

kyle (akmonday), Saturday, 28 August 2004 06:47 (nineteen years ago) link

This thread is dirtied by mentions of the gilmore girls.

Nellie (nellskies), Saturday, 28 August 2004 15:31 (nineteen years ago) link

I never watched beyond the first episode of the OC, I see they are advertising the second series, 2pm on a Sunday afternoon I do believe. I still think the main guy looks like Lance from Neighbours.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 28 August 2004 15:34 (nineteen years ago) link

It's not really the second series they're advertising on channel 4 - they cut the first US series in half so they'd have more airtime to show Big Brother in. : (

cis (cis), Saturday, 28 August 2004 15:54 (nineteen years ago) link

I thought it might be something like that! I remember the first episode was only on in late feb...it was a very cold day, I had spaghetti, bacon and peas for dinner and sat by the gas fire in the kitchen and watched the O.C.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 28 August 2004 15:57 (nineteen years ago) link

OMG that yogalates bit on 'the secret' was one of the most classic tv dialogues I have seen in ages. I love this show.

Nellie (nellskies), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:32 (nineteen years ago) link

one month passes...
its back.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 5 November 2004 12:54 (nineteen years ago) link

It's still here.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 5 November 2004 12:57 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm still in it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 5 November 2004 13:20 (nineteen years ago) link

I watched this for the first time last night. That bit about the pony with alopecia was fucking GREAT! Is this show a worthy investment of an hour a week? Guess I should actually read the thread.

quincie, Friday, 5 November 2004 13:35 (nineteen years ago) link

On DSTV's 'teen channel' Go, Adam Brody is in some pre-OC show where he's friends with 3 teenage idiots. Hi jinks ensue. A month ago, The Daily Mail's Saturday magazine supplement hailed him a style icon. Last week, I saw him in American Pie 2. The other night, he was getting Punk'd.

Guess who's slowly becoming irritating in my book?

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Friday, 5 November 2004 14:01 (nineteen years ago) link

I still love it.
Marisa's teenage fit was freakin' perfect.

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Friday, 5 November 2004 15:20 (nineteen years ago) link

Not knowing that Season 2 actually premiered last night, I caught the OC for the first time yesterday (my friend, recently hooked, had rented the last DVD of Season 1). Having lost Buffy, Angel and 24 starting only in January, I might have a new reason (excuse) to watch TV again (though this is purely rebound after those devastating blows).

alex in montreal, Friday, 5 November 2004 15:35 (nineteen years ago) link

I used to think that the greatest thing about this show was the interplay between Seth and Sandy, but I now think that it's all about RACHEL BILSON and her brilliant line deliveries. Huge Swoony Crush.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Friday, 5 November 2004 16:31 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm going to refer to sporty people as "Chino" from now on.
