it is a huge Internet forum thing. It is like ilx and metafilter went back in time and created some sort of monstrous general interest and Internet comedy forum and charged $10 to join. Now less relevant than 4chan in the lulz space.

xxp well their forums are around for like 10 yrs now and they developed a big community with quite a distinctive sense of humour and style of posting. I used to lurk a lot on SA forums, back when PHIZ (hipster shitposting subforum) was available to read for free, but I'm glad I wasn't stupid enough to pay 10$ for a damn account. ILXOR has the same for free.
