chicago kevin, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:21 (eighteen years ago)

Fuuuuuuuuuuck. I wanted to go see that Star Wars exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry, but it looks like the rest of the run is pretty much sold out.

This Sports Night is pretty entertaining, isn't it? Someone lent me the series on DVD. At this pace I'll finally see The West Wing in 2011.

Eazy, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:27 (eighteen years ago)

I like it, but it might be hard to watch again b/c the Sorkin style has been done to death by now. Six Feet Under dude and Felicity Huffman are good.

(that said I've, like, never watched the West Wing)

Jordan, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

I'm working at that same pace, E. (Speaking of which, I don't think I realized that your man Cr@1g Wr1ght had such a big title on SFU.)

Also, I think Horseshoe is a fan of Sports Night.

jaymc, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:32 (eighteen years ago)

speaking of, what happened to that girl? i emailed her a couple of times and she never wrote back.

La Lechera, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:34 (eighteen years ago)

lololololololol

xpost

Jordan, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:34 (eighteen years ago)

I watched the cats. And I read comments.

Jesse, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:40 (eighteen years ago)

horseshoe is 'around,' she pops up on the noize board and ilovenfl but maybe is avoiding ILE or the chi thread?

n/a, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:41 (eighteen years ago)

horseshoe is in florida where the sports bars are open air.

chicago kevin, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:41 (eighteen years ago)

Grrrr Sports Night. That's the show the ex used to watch to torture me.

Jesse, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:42 (eighteen years ago)

great photos, amanda!

those of you that saw "i am legend": would you say it's more or less or the same level of scary as "28 days/weeks later"?

colette, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:53 (eighteen years ago)

Somewhat less. But not as good a movie.

Jesse, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:56 (eighteen years ago)

After killing the teenager, the tiger followed a trail of blood left by Kulbir Dhaliwal about 300 yards to the cafe, where it mauled both men, police said.

Four officers who had already discovered Sousa's body then arrived and found the cat sitting next to one of the bloodied brothers, police Chief Heather Fong said. The victim yelled, "Help me! Help me!" and the animal resumed its attack, Fong said.

300 yards? imagine being stalked almost a quarter mile by a fucking bengal tiger? most interesting part of this to me "The victim yelled, "Help me! Help me!" and the animal resumed its attack, Fong said."

badass.

chicago kevin, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:59 (eighteen years ago)

much less, there's only one scene that's actually scary.

Jordan, Friday, 28 December 2007 16:59 (eighteen years ago)

stories like that keep going to the zoo exciting!

Jordan, Friday, 28 December 2007 17:00 (eighteen years ago)

The Last Guy on Earth (2006)

A long line of women -- including Joan Cusack, Elizabeth Hurley, Whoopi Goldberg, Carol Burnett, Shelley Long and Yasmine Bleeth -- can't keep their hands off goldbricking landscaper JJ (Rob Schneider) when he's the last man left on Earth. Joan Rivers, Delta Burke, Talia Shire, Phyllis Diller and Brooke Shields also star in director Jim Fitzpatrick's comic update of the 1964 classic Vincent Price film based on Richard Matheson's novel.

whaaa?

Jordan, Friday, 28 December 2007 17:03 (eighteen years ago)

Talia Shire!

I think I found I Am Legend scarier than 28 Days Later because I saw the former in a high-tech theater and saw the latter at the Village North, so the middling sound and picture quality gave me a little more detachment. Did you like Legend, J.?

John, yes, C.W. was a big part of the last two seasons of Six Feet Under. He created the new show on ABC with Krause and Sutherland too.

I could see getting worn out by Sorkin after a while since it's all got the same voice and the same rhythm, but I'm into it for now.

Eazy, Friday, 28 December 2007 17:41 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, this was better than I expected. The infected people were corny as hell, they were like bad Lord of the Rings monsters (esp. the lead dude). The ending (and how the meaning of the title was flipped) was Hollywood-ized, but I pretty much expected that. Everything else was surprisingly well-done.

I really want to see Last Man on Earth again.

Loved the scene where he's looking for the dog in that dark building, pretty tense stuff.

That scene is off the hook. The dog is the best character in the movie.

I forget if we talked about this last week, but Will Smith and the dog make it almost a two-people-in-a-room movie.

Eazy, Friday, 28 December 2007 18:09 (eighteen years ago)

True!

I didn't like the woman, nor her unnecessary kid. Esp. since they didn't turn out to be zombie spies.

Jenny, Saturday, 29 December 2007 21:16 (eighteen years ago)

I am drunk in Chicago. Chicago has also fed me well with foods from a variety of lands. Chicago will also be getting me tattooed tomorrow if all goes well.

Thank you Chicago, even if you are super goddamn cold.

MLA?

Eazy, Sunday, 30 December 2007 17:08 (eighteen years ago)

we are back, drove straight from asheville to chicago yesterday, hardcore

n/a, Sunday, 30 December 2007 17:10 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, MLA. Professor Wife is on a job search committee and has spent most of her time in a hotel room interviewing people while I slept late and wandered gaily about.

joygoat, Sunday, 30 December 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

I went to the MLA when it was in Chicago in 1999. Good times. My proudest moment was meeting Michael Berube.

jaymc, Sunday, 30 December 2007 18:38 (eighteen years ago)

we are offering up an HP DeskJet 842C desktop printer and a kinda crappy Ikea TV table thingy (like something you would put your TV on, with a little shelf for a DVD player or whatever, with rolly wheels) for free if anyone wants them. trying to get the computer area little more organized.

n/a, Sunday, 30 December 2007 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

interested in the printer! i was just talking to kenan yesterday about the stuff i'd need if i ended up selling crafts online and a printer was one of those things.

i might want the tv table too, come to think of it. depending on its size. i'll email you.

n/a, Monday, 31 December 2007 13:34 (eighteen years ago)

hey that's me

n/a, Monday, 31 December 2007 14:25 (eighteen years ago)

So far, there's no one at work, but I figure I should wait until 10 or so to leave, to be on the safe side. There aren't any notes, emails or messages about being closed though...

KitCat, Monday, 31 December 2007 14:46 (eighteen years ago)

weird ... do you have work to do or are you just waiting around?

n/a, Monday, 31 December 2007 14:58 (eighteen years ago)

My ride/accomplice to Madison bailed, so no MoDigDo for New Years.

Here's hoping you get a nice walk through the fog at 10, Sarah.
