JackWilshere Jack Wilshere
I can confirm I will be out for around 2-3 months! I am working hard in the gym to stay fit and I am gutted but I will be back stronger!

Number None, Sunday, 4 September 2011 13:39 (fourteen years ago)

will be tough on arsenal, having the 3rd best player in the world out for that long

the one thing i did manage to keep in touch with whilst sleeping in a field outside Harlech was that Wolves had done fuck all btw

Frogbs (Pray Like Aretha Franklin (in Whiteface)) (Noodle Vague), Monday, 5 September 2011 02:02 (fourteen years ago)

i caught 90 mins of ward there on fri night, is he one of your'n?

I'm not one to draw hasty conclusions but cunt wants drownin imo

even blue cows get the girls (darraghmac), Monday, 5 September 2011 02:07 (fourteen years ago)

lol sounds like our Wardy

Frogbs (Pray Like Aretha Franklin (in Whiteface)) (Noodle Vague), Monday, 5 September 2011 02:08 (fourteen years ago)

assumed cos Doyler didn't start you was just playing a friendly or something

Frogbs (Pray Like Aretha Franklin (in Whiteface)) (Noodle Vague), Monday, 5 September 2011 02:08 (fourteen years ago)

still now Shane Long's broken you've got no choice come tuesday

Frogbs (Pray Like Aretha Franklin (in Whiteface)) (Noodle Vague), Monday, 5 September 2011 02:09 (fourteen years ago)

doyle played, but trap publicly let slip that he didn't think his head was right. Doyle was shite, wasn't tryin, no fight or spirit. Trap says he might start with cox on tues, maybe give doyle a chance to show he's up for it in the final twenty mins or whatever.

Seriously, trap out. When you think kevin doyle's attitude is to be publicly questioned in the buildup to a pair of crucial matches, you're the problem. He's turnin from a cranky negative contrarian to an actual cunt

even blue cows get the girls (darraghmac), Monday, 5 September 2011 02:13 (fourteen years ago)

Here, what's the story with Leon Best?

Number None, Monday, 5 September 2011 03:21 (fourteen years ago)

trades descriptions act will see for that cunt

even blue cows get the girls (darraghmac), Monday, 5 September 2011 06:36 (fourteen years ago)

That VDV injury might be a blessing in disguise.

Matt DC, Monday, 5 September 2011 09:29 (fourteen years ago)

if it lets him rest up and come back ready, yeah.

even blue cows get the girls (darraghmac), Monday, 5 September 2011 09:44 (fourteen years ago)

Also I'm not sure we've ever recovered from reworking our entire team and formation to fit him in - a spell of 4-4-2 with Adebayor and Defoe upfront might work nicely. Also VDVs best game for us this year has been when he was playing nominally on the right rather than behind the striker.

Matt DC, Monday, 5 September 2011 09:48 (fourteen years ago)

when was that? Have always thought him poor on the right myself.

Changing to 451 with crouch was the issue- formation was in part vdv but also to let lennon and bale loose while still getting modric, vdv and one sitter into the line-up

even blue cows get the girls (darraghmac), Monday, 5 September 2011 09:52 (fourteen years ago)

VDV has been 'lol injury plagued stopping him having any form and being too important to a team because he made 3 great appearances once' since basically the start of his career. Ever wonder why he was so cheap? Every second that passes it'll look like a mistake not cashing on his great season imo.

Jay-Z ft. Kanye 'Big Hat Club (Spiritual Big Hat Club Jazz Remix)' (a hoy hoy), Monday, 5 September 2011 09:55 (fourteen years ago)

This is such obvious fake foresight, weren't you saying Man United should sign him a couple of years ago?

Matt DC, Monday, 5 September 2011 10:03 (fourteen years ago)

lol u rep for rvp in fairness

even blue cows get the girls (darraghmac), Monday, 5 September 2011 10:05 (fourteen years ago)

when was that? Have always thought him poor on the right myself.

3-3 draw against Arsenal.

Matt DC, Monday, 5 September 2011 10:05 (fourteen years ago)

good performance, granted, but an aberration in that position. He was prob at his best dropping back into cm in the early european games i think

even blue cows get the girls (darraghmac), Monday, 5 September 2011 10:08 (fourteen years ago)

He wasn't really on the right in that game either to be fair. Agree he's probably best in midfield proper.

Matt DC, Monday, 5 September 2011 10:13 (fourteen years ago)

agree with DC that dvd, I mean vdv, absence could help

agree that he disrupted the team when he arrived

was at Arsenal game and do recall, now, that he was good that night

don't understand 'cashing in on great season' -- he's not Bale or Modric, no one wanted to sign him.

the pinefox, Monday, 5 September 2011 10:18 (fourteen years ago)

that's true also- we weren't beating away offers all summer for him (nor bale for that matter)

even blue cows get the girls (darraghmac), Monday, 5 September 2011 10:26 (fourteen years ago)

no nobody wants Bale any more !!! funny

the pinefox, Monday, 5 September 2011 10:28 (fourteen years ago)

If Levy had capitulated on Modric early then the Bale offers would have come. Think a lot of the interest in Bale was either manufactured by the press or, more likely, clubs have been sitting around to see how he does for another season rather than buy in the peak of a hubristic bubble. I presume Man City just weren't that interested.

Matt DC, Monday, 5 September 2011 10:29 (fourteen years ago)

Bale may be excellent at what he does but what he does is quite limited imo

Frogbs (Pray Like Aretha Franklin (in Whiteface)) (Noodle Vague), Monday, 5 September 2011 10:29 (fourteen years ago)

I dunno, if you can do one thing very very well and get back and tackle reasonably then you don't need to be particularly versatile.

Matt DC, Monday, 5 September 2011 10:30 (fourteen years ago)

wing play, either way? Crossing early or late, beating his man either way, comfortable cutting into the box and shooting or playing the pass and running to collect?

Yeah, you're wrong tbh nv. Crouch crouch crouch. Can't say it enough.

even blue cows get the girls (darraghmac), Monday, 5 September 2011 10:33 (fourteen years ago)

may have been influenced by watching him be not very good in the centre for Wales the other night

Frogbs (Pray Like Aretha Franklin (in Whiteface)) (Noodle Vague), Monday, 5 September 2011 10:36 (fourteen years ago)

Discussions like this remind me of those dreadful attempts made to convert David Beckham into a central midfielder when everyone in the world knew exactly what he was good at and what he was in the team for. Possibly Beckham himself encouraged them.

Matt DC, Monday, 5 September 2011 10:37 (fourteen years ago)

the prestige attached to the central role would confuse anyone compelled to watch the republic this past while.

even blue cows get the girls (darraghmac), Monday, 5 September 2011 10:40 (fourteen years ago)

DM, what about Crouch?

are you just expressing happiness at his departure?

the pinefox, Monday, 5 September 2011 10:43 (fourteen years ago)

I think his point is that Bale created an awful lot of chances that Crouch wasn't good enough to put away, or was in the wrong place to get near.

Matt DC, Monday, 5 September 2011 10:47 (fourteen years ago)

sorry, work called.

Yes pf- matt has it. Not only was crouch not capable of finishing the chances created, his absence of presence or ability to collect and hold the ball totally undermined entire nascent passages of play. Bale's powerful forward running off the ball was time and again wasted by virtue of the fact that crouch's touch, passing or plain failure to head or challenge in the air meant he would merely find himself the wrong side of his full back on what was already a burgeoning counter attack for the opposition.

Modric and (to an extent) lennon were also wasted for the most part whenever crouc was given the responsibilty for the attack.

I'm no fan of adebayor, but i fully expect his fuller presence to bring about a serious improvement in the effectiveness of the rest of our attack.

even blue cows get the girls (darraghmac), Monday, 5 September 2011 10:56 (fourteen years ago)

agree that Adebayor cd well make Bale's light shine brighter in particular

Frogbs (Pray Like Aretha Franklin (in Whiteface)) (Noodle Vague), Monday, 5 September 2011 11:02 (fourteen years ago)

strongly agree, DM

I felt all this many times, watching Crouch being incredibly useless.

I have also always been deeply annoyed when Crouch misses an easy chance and laughs about it.

I don't like Adebayor but must reserve judgement on his effect on the team.

the pinefox, Monday, 5 September 2011 11:02 (fourteen years ago)

presumably you're no fans of adebayor purely in a character sense? as a footballer surely there's no argument he's very capable and effective when he's got his head screwed on (which isnt as seldom as people like to make out tbf).

r|t|c, Monday, 5 September 2011 11:04 (fourteen years ago)

"In this respect Crouch can almost seem like a parody of an English centre-forward, a living satire of those "traditional strengths", football's version of a braces-twanging pearly king or a champion Morris dancer."

^ quite liked this line in barney ronay's otherwise routine appreciation of crouch fwiw

r|t|c, Monday, 5 September 2011 11:07 (fourteen years ago)

i left out crouch's off the ball movement, another hugely important facet of a lone striker's game with regard to effectiveness of the wingers. So easy to mark, so predictable (a defender could have gone to the back post andnwaited for him to arrive, usually) and so unhelpful for a winger cutting in or a midfielder arriving late.

Vdv had a knack of being where the ball would arrive once crouch miscontrolled it, one only hopes that he comes back fit and sharp and with more to his game than that.

even blue cows get the girls (darraghmac), Monday, 5 September 2011 11:08 (fourteen years ago)

rtc yeah, character reservations is right, though if i'm honest only as far as it translates on-field. He pulled that young arsenal team down around him the season before he left. I hate being left so dependent on him but when he plays he's ... I hate to say unplayable but y'know

even blue cows get the girls (darraghmac), Monday, 5 September 2011 11:10 (fourteen years ago)

shit, le Fondre ended up at Reading?

― Frogbs (Pray Like Aretha Franklin (in Whiteface)) (Noodle Vague), Monday, 5 September 2011 02:59 (9 hours ago) Bookmark

yeah right i missed this too! i think every fan of every club in the country (besides knobs who havent heard of him) felt a slight twinge of envy when they saw that - if he were called adam watson then hey ho, you sometimes get the odd lower league flash in the pan but chuck in some of that le tiss channel islands swag and he just becomes irresistible

r|t|c, Monday, 5 September 2011 11:15 (fourteen years ago)

Glenville Adam J. le Fondre (born 2 December 1986), more commonly known as Adam Le Fondre, is an English footballer who plays for Reading as a striker.
