right: what's the advantage over Versions? I use TexShop, whose latest version supports Versions.

Can it help with collaborators who aren't on Lion or don't use (the latest) TexShop or who don't have LayerVault installed?

what's the best way to throw content (potentially w/HD and subtitles) from a computer in one room to my main TV? is this what apple TV does? does it have limitations wrt file types (AVI, divx etc)? slingbox? boxee? cheap acer revo?

apple tv is great but it's mp4/m4v/mov only - basically the iTunes formats. if you're torrenting, you'll usually need to convert them or use something else, but idk what the other options are like.

I've heard good things about the recently-upgraded Roku 2, which is cheaper and arguably better than Apple TV. 1080p, USB input, and Bluetooth remote on top-of-range model; microSD slot and TV remote compatible on all versions.

Doesn't work well outside of North America though, too much content region-locked to US/Canada and Netflix, Hulu+, and Amazon channels haven't crossed the big pond yet from what I've read, but hopefully they're working on this.

i use popcorn hour, which plays everything. you can map a networked drive (or your computer) to it, or plug in a USB drive, or even install an HD in the case and copy video to it over a network. the nice thing about that is that my computer doesn't have to be on. it is a bit nerdy though - requires a bit of fiddling.

i boosted my terminal font to 11pt a couple of months ago. so sad. menlo is great though.

went back to monaco after ~3 months. still haven't found a fixed with font that aliases well. :-(

Just bought a 160 Gb classic to replace my 3yo 120 Gb classic. Fuck an ipod touch imo.

So what's the chance of Apple basically announcing:

- 32 Gb Nanos without cell
- iPods Touch, all with cell and constant iCloud (possibly called "iPhones")
- no other iPods of any description

...because for a while I've been wondering whether the iCloud announcement + no iPhone announcement in June/July + this September/October announcement = all iPods Touch acquiring 3G guts and just becoming the same thing as iPhones

I want to get a Classic to replace my old 8GB Nano as at the moment I find I'm just using my iPhone for music. However I've heard the latest build is a bit flaky and problems around 12 months are common. Plus here in the UK apparently they are volume restricted which means even on full volume they can sometimes be hard to hear if there's a lot of background noise around you

Are they volume restricted everywhere now? Used to be you could download the US firmware and flash an iPod to remove the volume limit, but that seems to have stopped.

My iPod classic is definitely quiet. iPhone seems better, interestingly.
