Pit Bulls: What's the appeal?

pit bulls seem to either be really nice or really sketch in my experience, sometimes both

come to thikn of it I think all breeds should be un-bred back into genetically healthier mutts - mutts rule

issues with my pit: trick back leg leads to limping so she's not so good at running, she is a stubborn and willful little bitch, dog/human aggression, likes to forage for organic matter on sidewalk, demands attention on a regular basis, requires heavy daily socialization/exercise which means she needs to be put up in a prohibitively expensive doggie daycare rather than left to hang around the house, people are prejudiced against pits so they often act like I'm carrying a gun

positives with my pit: amazingly communicative (we've worked out about a thirty word/gesture vocabulary that we can use to really let each other understand what we need), intensely loyal and protective of both me and girl, generally good at responding to commands, very loving and cuddly and playful, learns to accept new people in her life with about a week of exposure, no chronic skin/fur/breath/digestive/health problems, will eat anything but doesn't eat shit or inorganic matter, smells lightly of fritos, doesn't shed, doesn't damage furniture, very well housetrained, great with puppies and babies

This pretty much applies to like 98% of dog breeds.

Although sketchy pit bulls obviously have drawbacks that annoying toy dog breeds don't.

chihuahuas are the worst in my experience for being aggressive bitey beasts. and not only are they nasty, they are also ugly. sorry, chihuahua fans.

ugh that some of the opinions in that article are dumb - if pit bulls are banned, do they think that the kind of ppl who train/breed them to be so aggressive will also magically disappear?? no, they'll just use other dog breeds instead.

Pits and bulldogs do have disproportionately strong bites/jaws, and a style of bite that clamps and grinds, instead of being a quick slash with teeth or some other kind. I'm not sure one is "better" or "worse", though.

This seems to suggest its on the cards - they have passed the law just this week also that all suspected pits have to be regustered as dangerous, proved otherwise, or destroyed which is p full on:

All dangerous restricted-breed dogs will need to be registered in Victoria by September 29 or council officers will have the power to seize and destroy the dog, under changes announced by the Baillieu government.
