Watched Book of Eli, drank beer, fell asleep before 12:00 now 4:45 and wide awake with police helicopter hovering over my home!

Mikes' Harder Blueberry Lemonade (I think I like the cranberrry one better), spaghetti from a can, and enduring my husband's limitless and endlessly ranted about reserves of self-pity.

Packed most of my kitchen and bathroom. Drank a bottle of white wine. Joined OkCupid in an Hurricane-Irene induced moment of boredom.

baked a blueberry pie for dinner with inlaws tomorrow night, drinking coffee, thinking abt watching 13 Assassins

About to go to sleep for a bit until Irene presumably wakes me up, already engaged in my own manly self-pity based ranting this morning before bringing in patio furniture et al

Watched Doctor Who, then totally solid Statham/Considine cop drama Blitz, now finishing up The Hour. Got some Sam Adams. And cigarettes when I want to brave the wind.

I live in a quadplex in maryland, and Irene just knocked out our electricial power. It's 4am and my flatmates are all asleep. It's pitch black. I'm bored. I'm lonely.

A really cute girl just moved in upstairs last week. She's really bored & lonely too.

We're both looking for something we can do in complete darkness when nobody else is around. Any ideas?

nah, creativity and imagination were never my strong suits .... especially when I'm tired as 'ell & haven't showered in 2 days 'cause the water's cold and am sweating profusely 'cause no air conditioning or even fans. Just woke up an hour ago, disoriented. Power just restored a few hours ago. Alot of my frozen food didn't survive. Now finishing my laundry which was half-washed when the power went out, which includes all my pillowcases.

yes I was in her room. I get all self-conscious when I know I reek from lack of personal hygiene so we talked a bit, I went downstairs to my place to shower and brush my teeth (by candlelight) and by the time I was clean and dry she was asleep too. Went upstairs again earlier today, still with the power out, she had some girlfriends over, talked some more. My saturday night was more frustrating than boring. Phone and internet service still flaky now even with power restored.

Don't lose heart, dude. You've come a long way so far...

She just sent me a "call me" text. That's a good start i guess....

Asking myself the same thing. It's disinterest, not shyness. I actually planned a boring alone night to catch up on chores and such. I'm just so depleted from the storms and power outages, replenishing the refrigerated food supply that was lost, and trying to clean up the resulting mess.

A few years ago it would've been me pulling not her.

earlier this summer I was just pining for adventure (I should bump that thread for new last-minute ideas).

now, some combination of ennui, exhaustion, disappointment, and heartbreak has shut down any interest in anything. even, unfathomably, cute girls

i took the bins out, there were a lot of them. on the way back up on the lift this cute eastern european girl i have a crush on was there again. we smiled at each other. i will never plucked up the courage to speak to her, and really i don't know if girls want to be get hit on in the lift of their buildings.

i'm working at 7am tomorrow so i'm going to read a bit of pet sematary and go to bed now.

My thanks to Pleasant Plains and the rest of you for doing your best to snap me out of this funk..... Even though I feel too lethargic to walk out to my car, we're going out. Don't know where yet, I'm about to download the Washington Post Going Out Guide iPhone app and we'll choose something that looks fun. And adventurous!

My advice was for markers. Anyone else try to "make it happen" on your own and you're liable to get yourself killed.

i've got an exciting update. i woke up after 2 hours sleep, i can't get back to sleep, so i'm drinking peppermint tea and putting some football bets on.

took a very long nap, went out for vietnamese pork chops w/ vermicelli and a taro boba smoothie, listened to some of henry rollins's radio show. i have wayne's world from netflix and am so very psyched to watch it again.

Sitting in, watching MST3K. Season 3. Joel rules.

Sat outside and looked at the moon a bit. Been feeling ill and drowsy off and on most of night. Watched the end of The Innocents and realized for the first time that Deborah Kerr can me sick.

It really was. It's great being able to look back at what I wrote earlier in the day here, having no idea at the time what the night had in store....

Actually wasn't going well at first, couldn't get a conversation rolling for the first 2 hours but then things started to fall into place. Five years ago I would have written this off as a B-minus first date, but I've grown to appreciate the sort of informality she has, the way she didn't care that I
wasn't dressed the part and neither was she, and we had no real plans and just wanted to improvise, but improvise together. It wasn't exciting but was still very pleasant.

When I got home my neighbours & some friends were downing some beers on the front lawn and asked me where I'd been. When I gave them a recap, the girls were like awww about four times in one minute. It was then I realized I actually had a pretty awesome night.

Maybe again next weekend. But I'm so not ready to be half of a couple right now....

right on. i am also a fan of the slow-moving.
