Sir Alex Ferguson was like an old streetfighter lying bloodied and beaten in his corner - defiantly insisting his victorious opponent had never laid a glove on him.

Ferguson was selling the message that Manchester United were the better side against Liverpool at Old Trafford. No-one was buying that when a 4-1 scoreline in favour of the visitors slightly contradicted his argument.

Liverpool's win was as impressive as it was deserved and the even the lavish victory margin provoked few arguments, despite Ferguson's protestations.

Here this is crap. Different team and different boss. Don't need to be told about 09 or rafa, i watched it all, and he caused all those players to leave anyway. This board is either 09 didn't exist or let's lament the now far enough away 09 Liverpool. And it's a season after they finished sixth with a manager change in January. Plus there's no "hype" it's just people saying they played well, in third game of season.

nah the liverpool hype cycle is drawing warm water atm, it will be pretty huge by the time they are 2nd in october and the title is almost theirs, then it will somehow dissipate before making landfall
