I am astonished by the idea that I have kicked this thread up a notch. Though I do think that any ILX cookbook needs a "Consume during preparation" section.

That makes me want to kill a mfer.

Also, not going to stan for egg/lemonade just above, but I know eggshells have been used as clarifying agents since ancient times and egg whites are frequently used in cocktails.

Captain Beefart (PBKR), Wednesday, 11 August 2021 23:27 (four years ago)

iow, i guarantee this person couldn't identify regular lemonade and egg white lemonade in a blind tasting.

Coffee DUMPLINGS!

fentanyl young (Neanderthal), Thursday, 19 January 2023 00:26 (three years ago)

i get that the premise of this thread is putting flavors together that don't go together but i'm going to disregard the thread rules to tell the following anecdote:

mr. cat & i were discussing the price of eggs because we are boring old people. i recalled that he had once """scored""" multiple sacks of freeze dried egg crumbles, which were currently lurking in the far depths of a kitchen cabinet, and i offered some suggestions as to how we could best utilize this resource. perhaps a quiche, perhaps a strata? mr. cat stated with some surprise that he had intended for us to eat them as is, and that freeze dried egg crumbles might be a convenient and nutritious snack for hiking or general errands around town.

i stared, uncomprehending.

he continued that we could simply gulp down a handful these dusty-ass expired government surplus dehydrated egg product chunks, follow them up with a swig of water, and it would be just as though we had eaten real life eggs.

then i laughed really hard and made him promise to let me take a video of him if he ever actually does this.

...

well, that was my anecdote. in retrospect it was neither as amusing nor as disgusting as i thought it would be. you might hope that if someone is going to butt into a legacy thread with a story that is only glancingly relevant then they would at least have the etiquette to make that story enjoyable on its own terms, but in this i have clearly failed. am i going to post it anyway? i am indeed. then i will settle into a bathtub filled with steaming rehydrated eggs for a long soak and a serious reappraisal of my ilxing strategy. i'm sorry, that's a lie. i don't have a bathtub. the best i can do is sit on the floor of the shower and pour buckets of hot egg over myself.

I think I saw that on Chopped once. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

The Terroir of Tiny Town (WmC), Monday, 19 June 2023 01:38 (three years ago)

That reminds me of that stupid video where the lady blitzed a packet of raw pasta in the blender, added egg, rolled it into a dough and made "fresh pasta" out of it.

Which I'm sure is just clickbait. I watch "how to cook that" too much, it debunks a lot of these things.

he's still on Twitter

jaymc, Tuesday, 15 October 2024 21:44 (one year ago)

yeah and he will rarely respond to those tweets, which tend to be of the Camelot-in-smithereens variety.

Swirled throughout are crunchy oyster crackers and shreds of cheese that provide a tangy contrast to the sweet treat.

i made banana cake & frosting in a separate container to better accommodate the differing frosting quantity preferences of my household and beloved mr cat, my best mr cat, he -- i should have been more specific when he asked me where the frosting was. i just said it was in a little round container in the fridge but i should have explained further, and now... he is eating a piece of cake with turkey gravy on it. he didn't want to waste the cake after he realized what he had done. i love him so much

papermint violetter (cat), Friday, 27 March 2026 08:08 (two months ago)

lol, that is exactly the kind of thing i would do, my wife would absolutely not think "i should have explained further" but instead roll her eyes hard and then tell everyone in her family whatsapp group.
