For people who don't watch sitcoms but will check it out now that someone has deemed it the most smartest of all.

sometimes you r pretty obtuse. do u think maybe slate's reading audience might bring better numbers to the show and help it stick around longer if slate keeps writing fawning articles about it?

Slate is the weirdest site. They have a Culture Gabfest podcast where like 2 weeks ago they first discovered this show called "Breaking Bad".

Culture Gabfest is a horrendous joke. I listen to it on occasion out of a masochistic urge to hear middle-class idiots try to reconcile what is popular with their limited understanding of culture.

the Clerks animated show is probably the best Kevin Smith project released and that second episode is why; it basically does the exact same thing as the "Community" episode

it's also probably a large reason as to why there are only 6 episodes of Clerks, lol

except that it did flash back to a clip from the first episode every time iirc?

Clerks was canceled after that 2nd episode. The other 4 came out on DVD later.

Also, ABC only aired episodes #4 and 2, so the flashbacks to Ep. #1 didn't make any sense--or perhaps functioned as the Community flashbacks did.

season 2 dvd is out! i put it in my netflix queue, and noticed that the capsule description of the show calls Abed "a film student with Asperger's." the show's never officially diagnosed him, has it?

Abed is deliberately 90 deg out if phase with everyone else, and with the show as a written creation.

I think Dan's addiction to TVTropes might feed into this.

IIRC, in one of the early episodes, Jeff answered something Abed said with "...and you have Asperger's", which was the most blatent reference, although (grain of salt ready) the line is more about Jeff being a dick than whatever it is that makes Abed Abed.

yeah, early on they obv intended Abed to be strictly aspie, then pulled back from this, eg "Abed The Undiagnosable"

yeah they definitely tiptoe around it and make a show of not pinning him down to anything like that -- Big Bang Theory walks that line even more precariously with Sheldon

hopefully pierce being back in the group means an end to the in-fighting plotlines, because that was old last season. less yelling, more zings!

but still some quality stuff tonight. i liked shirley quietly suggesting they use abed's catatonia as a chance to baptize him.

liked the 2001 and Shining nods but would've liked a full blown Kubrick ep more

I was dying already the instant Abed said "I'm on episode six", enough that my wife paused the episode and made me explain why I was laughing so hard and I said pretty much what Britta said 20 seconds later when we pushed play again.

I'm annoyed they just didn't use Dr Who and used some lame stand in.

Ep was kinda lame, but they always start slow. Not feeling the lizard but I <3 the 'lets breaking bad together' w/ omar line.

'Cut it boobs' p much the only line i lol'd at, along with the rectum bit.

Episode was fun but kinda felt like they were trying to cram too much in, maybe the Dean/Goodman stuff could have waited an episode or two. Better than the start of S2 though. Shirley had most of the best moments although the idea of Chang as the security guard has serious lol potential.

i was impressed by this too! the whole episode looked very good. also britta went back to having wavy hair and i thought she looked amazing, especially in that gray shirt in the tag.

Dan Harmon was saying on one of the DVD commentaries that they got so much flack for changing Britta's hair in season two. I didn't even notice she'd changed it back.

We had to stop the DVR because we were laughing so hard at "you've really thought this through" on the Dean's monkey hotel plans.

No way was this awful. I agree with Matt though - too much stuff. So far The Office, BBT and this have all started off pretty good and in the absence of ANYTHING FUNNY AT ALL on British TV I'm happy with that.
