back before hank got hurt, when he was taking that job in el paso maybe?
― it was pleasant and delightful, just like (La Lechera), Wednesday, 17 August 2011 13:40 (fourteen years ago)
there was a scene where hank bought the whites los pollos hermanos wasn't there? and he was all "try this delicious meth dosed chicken, i can't get enough of it, FUCK YOU, ngggghhhhrr"
the first part is true.
also it's worth noting the meth lab isn't a pollos, it's a laundry site of some kind right?
― LocalGarda, Wednesday, 17 August 2011 13:47 (fourteen years ago)
so pollos is more like a front for gus to actually have a job or whatever? maybe to meet people?
― LocalGarda, Wednesday, 17 August 2011 13:48 (fourteen years ago)
Pollos is good for money laundering I'd imagine, and we know they use the Los Pollos trucks to move the meth around.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 17 August 2011 13:52 (fourteen years ago)
money laundering would be the main thingxp
― L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Wednesday, 17 August 2011 13:52 (fourteen years ago)
Gus also does charitable works as a successful business owner too, let's not forget

"Gus/Mike plan makes/made no sense, especially if Jesse is once again a regular meth user. Surprised Total Pro Mike would have gone along, given how easily he could have been accidentally killed/injured by unpredictable Jesse."
^^ this. like i appreciate the psychology he's using here, but the execution is way too hazardous for Gus.
also, I totally get Gail being a libertarian, but an actual Ron Paul supporter? idk. I guess tbf it was an efficient to convey that point without making a big deal of it.
― a lil weezy goes a long way (will), Wednesday, 17 August 2011 17:22 (fourteen years ago)
xpost So freaking intense. The first time I saw that scene, I'm sure I ground away a little bit of tooth enamel.
― DSMOS has arrived (kenan), Wednesday, 17 August 2011 18:13 (fourteen years ago)
haha I really think you guys are giving Jesse too much credit. the plan was obviously to put the frighteners on Jesse at a moment when Mike - the real asset - was well away from the action. if mopey loser meth-head Jesse actually manages to kill/injure a couple of hardened hired goons, well, so what? failing to see the "danger" in this for Gus.
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 17 August 2011 19:35 (fourteen years ago)
Well, clearly Mike was not expecting Jesse to drive off with his car, trunk full of money, so conceivably all sorts of other stuff could have gone wrong, too.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 17 August 2011 20:22 (fourteen years ago)
the only thing that bugged me about that scene is how Jessie knew right where Mike was going to be when he pulled up in his car. but whatever, it's just one of those TV show things.
― rockapads, Wednesday, 17 August 2011 20:33 (fourteen years ago)
he couldve been driving around looking for him for a while
― ice cr?m, Wednesday, 17 August 2011 20:36 (fourteen years ago)
jesse and gus cooked it up together. it's along con aimed at mike.

Minor pet peeve was Mike pulling out the shovel out of the trunk only to do nothing with it.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 18 August 2011 03:34 (fourteen years ago)
IT'S A SHOVEL! UH OH! HAHA J/K HE JUST PULLED IT OUT TO MAKE YOU THINK HE WAS GOING TO SHOVEL SOMETHING! PSYKE!

― tehresa, Thursday, 18 August 2011 03:41 (fourteen years ago)
I can sort of see the writers making it a shovel...if he'd pulled out a more-appropriate crowbar, Jesse definitely would have gone for his eyes with the keys.
― L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Thursday, 18 August 2011 03:43 (fourteen years ago)
He used it to pry a corner of a piece of plywood which he then pulled up with his hands.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 18 August 2011 03:43 (fourteen years ago)
ah, but he needed the shovel to recover the cache
― L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Thursday, 18 August 2011 03:45 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah you're right he couldn't just have used his hands to pry up the corner.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 18 August 2011 03:46 (fourteen years ago)
he actually shoved some dirt off before prying the corner. god, ppl. chill.
― tehresa, Thursday, 18 August 2011 03:48 (fourteen years ago)
"recover" as in "cover up again" afterwards -- xp to self
― L.P. Hovercraft (WmC), Thursday, 18 August 2011 03:48 (fourteen years ago)
how is Mike "the real asset"? he's an enforcer, those guys aren't really that hard to come by - neither are Jesses but the point stands, Mike isn't really a key to the operation
― pathos of the unwarranted encore (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Thursday, 18 August 2011 03:49 (fourteen years ago)
I'm not seriously bothered by it, but there couldn't have been much dirt to shovel off cuz he pulled the cover off and threw it aside without actually clearing it.
I just thought it seemed like a slightly cheesy bit.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 18 August 2011 03:51 (fourteen years ago)
xp as evidenced by Gus basically casually disposing of Mike's partner.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 18 August 2011 03:52 (fourteen years ago)
mike is valuable imho, dead guy was his sidekick
― ice cr?m, Thursday, 18 August 2011 03:54 (fourteen years ago)
I'm not sure why people are more focused on the dinner scene than the fact that Gus is trying to turn Jesse against Walt by making him "useful" but I guess I haven't read absolutely all the thread.

ones as good and proven reliable as Mike surely are, Gus can't just call up an unemployed roadie from the Pump tour cos you know he's got broad shoulders and will look impressive standing in a doorway dude
TS: getting dirt on your fingertips that you can wipe off on your pants, or getting it dug right in under your fingernails on the first drop of the morning, where it's going to irritate you all day, when you've already got that ear throbbing away at you and this dipshit kid endlessly yammering with his bullshit
― Circlejerk du Soleil (sic), Thursday, 18 August 2011 06:45 (fourteen years ago)
Mike's kind of a Winston Wolfe type, a fixer or whatever. My imaginary crime lord instincts tell me that is, indeed, much harder to find than just a simple killer.
― Namu Amida Bootsy (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Thursday, 18 August 2011 07:00 (fourteen years ago)
Mike was blatantly quite enjoying freaking Jesse out with little gangster flourishes such as the fetching of the shovel.
― Inevitable stupid samba mix (chap), Thursday, 18 August 2011 08:52 (fourteen years ago)
We haven't seen any evidence that Mike gives a shit about the dead guy have we? Considering how most inept most of the muscle in Breaking Bad has been you'd imagine his instincts would be invaluable to Gus. That scene when he was in the truck while they were shooting at it shows how good he is.
Also he's not just muscle, he's a spy as well.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 18 August 2011 08:57 (fourteen years ago)
Well, it almost did - Mike made the call about needing a pickup, remember? But in a situation where Jesse is the game and Mike is the hunter there isn't really any contest.
(Plus Jesse may be stupid but I don't think he's stupid enough to try running off with Gus "I Kill People With My Bare Hands" Fring's money.)

The fixers I've employed have been nowhere neat as adept as Mike. I'd kill for a fixer that good.
My new (based on nothing) prediction: At some point Walt, having renewed Hank's dogged interest, will have to kill Hank. Later, Marie, finding purpose in life after going through Hank's stuff, will be the one to ultimately bust Walt, setting up a showdown between her and her sister. (That would be a true jump the shark moment, of course).
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 18 August 2011 11:46 (fourteen years ago)
last season's warehouse scene was enough to establish mike's black ops cred
― hello I love you but I've chosen darkness my old friend (Edward III), Thursday, 18 August 2011 15:02 (fourteen years ago)
Screw the warehouse. How about hunkering down in a cold trailer, waiting to ambush cartel dudes, not flinching when he gets his ear blown off by a machine gun, then popping out of the trailer to get the job done with just a couple of shots?
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 18 August 2011 15:04 (fourteen years ago)
Wondering when Mike left the police actually. He's the only player who Hank hasn't come face-to-face with, to my knowledge. It's possible they might actually have met.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 18 August 2011 15:05 (fourteen years ago)
Good point. I bet they're saving that connection in their back pocket for later.
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 18 August 2011 15:07 (fourteen years ago)
Was it Mike who put the call in that saved Hank? Can't quite remember, or remember why they cared whether Hank died or not.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 18 August 2011 15:13 (fourteen years ago)
We haven't seen any evidence that Mike gives a shit about the dead guy have we?
When Jesse was going on about how he should get a gun to help 'guard' Mike because he was 'that guy' or something, Mike kind of snapped 'you're not that guy, I had a guy but I dont any more', and he seemed kind of pissed off or upset. I assumed he was talking about Victor.
― peligro, Thursday, 18 August 2011 15:17 (fourteen years ago)
Maybe, I assumed Jesse was just annoying the fuck out of him.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 18 August 2011 15:22 (fourteen years ago)
being a bit pissed off about losing the guy bc of jesse and walt is not the same as 'giving a shit' rly
