i just tried to get a tenner on him for top scorer at 8-1 but by the time the site stopped playing with me he was 4s. tempted to just stick the 20 on him and forget about cutting my nose off to spite my face.

"star is born" => doing it in the EPL and not the diddy liga innit

do I hear 51, 51, 51... I'll give you 51, 51, 51 (cozen), Monday, 15 August 2011 21:40 (fourteen years ago)

can he do it with a ref not giving an offside 2nd and out-of-play 3rd more like

r|t|c, Monday, 15 August 2011 21:42 (fourteen years ago)

He's pretty well-equipped for the wet-Stoke test as far as I can tell; plays for the right team and all.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 15 August 2011 21:43 (fourteen years ago)

Do you reckon Bolton fans get annoyed that their ground is no longer the intimidating place for soft foreign jessies to go on a wet Wednesday evening in November?

Matt DC, Monday, 15 August 2011 21:44 (fourteen years ago)

Their ground is kind of wussy though, all those curves. Teams should ditch these modern grounds and move into abandoned industrial wastelands instead. That Braga quarry thing is good - there are derelict mines all over the north for sides looking to build a rep.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 15 August 2011 21:56 (fourteen years ago)

Scunthorpe shd move into a hole in the ground oh wait they're already in Scunthorpe

An oil rig in the North Sea, at night, in a force 9 - I'd like to see Agüero try any fancy stuff there

Chris, Monday, 15 August 2011 22:59 (fourteen years ago)

aguero is unreal. his touch and ability to hold the ball is up there with messi, for me. yeah i know its swansea but thats a fantastic 20 mins from a guy who is still probably not even fully match fit.

Michael B, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 10:10 (fourteen years ago)

Think we should take a deep breath before claiming the title for City though. For all we know everyone might be able to put four goals past Swansea.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 10:10 (fourteen years ago)

yeah but no-one else has gareth barry

This is a bit of a long-shot, but I have this vague memory of being in a pub in Islington on a Friday night back in about 2003 or 2004 and being surprised to see there was a live Premier league game on the TV. I think it might have been Arsenal v Newcastle, but I wouldn't swear to it. Google isn't being particularly helpful on this front. Can anyone confirm if they have shown Premier League games on a Friday night? And if so, what game did I see and when was it?

Yes, there was definitely one around that time and my memory says Arsenal-Newcastle too, because I looked up tickets and it didn't sell out. But I didn't go, I wasn't a diehard gunner then.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 11:50 (fourteen years ago)

I thought you'd always been a true blue gunner-gooner?

26/09/2003 apparently. Do not remember this

lol yeah a very quick decision indeed

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 17:04 (fourteen years ago)

Were Arsenal trying to sell Vela and couldn't find any takers, or was the plan to loan him out for a year all along?

Think the writing was on the wall for Chippy when he couldn't get into the West Brom team.

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 16 August 2011 18:32 (fourteen years ago)

3 matches for Gervinho, ridiculous.

@Nanas08 Just to make things clear i dont have a facebook so i never said i was leaving with bitterness the guy who said that use a fake account, wah wah wah

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 17 August 2011 06:42 (fourteen years ago)

"He rang me after I stuck up for him (in September 2009 when Adebayor scored against Arsenal at Eastlands). I said he shouldn't have run to the fans, but they were giving him almighty abuse all game. What are you supposed to do? You stick it up them, which is what he did. It was a bit over the top but I stuck up for him and he rang me to say he appreciated it. I'm sure I'll get on well with him. When he was at it at Arsenal, he was almost unplayable. That's what we want him to do here and there's no reason why he can't do that."
No reason why you wouldn't 'ave a go fer someone hoo'd stick it up 'em.

James Mitchell, Thursday, 18 August 2011 09:03 (fourteen years ago)

Cech out 4 weeks with a knee injury. Adjust yr fantasy teams accordingly. Can never remember if Hilario is any good or not.

10/11 of a dead jesus (darraghmac), Thursday, 18 August 2011 13:32 (fourteen years ago)

No way is Hilario now second-choice keeper at Chelsea? That's ridiculous.

Matt DC, Thursday, 18 August 2011 13:34 (fourteen years ago)

no, it's Hilarious!

jel --, Thursday, 18 August 2011 13:36 (fourteen years ago)

Who else do they have?

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 18 August 2011 13:38 (fourteen years ago)

I wonder how much he's been paid for playing ~20 games in 5 years.

^^^ this (onimo), Thursday, 18 August 2011 13:39 (fourteen years ago)

Who else do they have?

Ross Turnbull

^^^ this (onimo), Thursday, 18 August 2011 13:40 (fourteen years ago)

They also signed this guy then loaned him immediately to Atletico Madrid

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thibaut_Courtois

^^^ this (onimo), Thursday, 18 August 2011 13:42 (fourteen years ago)

they have Turnbull too, though as I assume he signed in order to quietly see out the last ten years of his career on the bench I don't know if actually playing him would be a good idea. (xp)

Merdeyeux, Thursday, 18 August 2011 13:44 (fourteen years ago)

Turnbull is there purely because of homegrown rules, right? I don't think even he can remember if he is any good or not.

gay socialists smoking mushrooms with their illegal gardeners (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 18 August 2011 13:50 (fourteen years ago)

"I find it frustrating with Joey Barton how he's not in the England squad," Cattermole told BBC Newcastle.

"There's no doubting his ability, but they [the England management team] see him as some problem."

"I don't understand it, I think he would do well for the England side."
