No, but it should. Did you know that lobsters have blue blood?

Cathy (Cathy), Friday, 25 March 2005 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

did you know how to spell "napoleon"?

; )

RJG (RJG), Friday, 25 March 2005 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Did you know?

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 25 March 2005 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I may not be able to spell Napoleon, but I did just beat you. ; )

Cathy (Cathy), Friday, 25 March 2005 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

wait, did you?

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 26 March 2005 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

it's napoleOn.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 26 March 2005 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

hard o.

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 26 March 2005 01:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Moving drunk, there. Arse.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Saturday, 26 March 2005 01:57 (twenty-one years ago)

haha! haha!

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 26 March 2005 02:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Son of a bitch! I didn't even see that coming. Oh well, lasting 49 moves is still an achievement for me.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Saturday, 26 March 2005 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Now THAT time I saw an endgame!

That was a kick-ass game. When you moved your rook back up to H1, did you realize I could take it?

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 26 March 2005 03:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I wanted to get your knight out of the way. I was scared of that knight-pawn team at my home row. Maybe it would have been wiser at the time to move the rook closer to my queen and just trade the bishop for the knight? My biggest weakness was in letting your pawn get that close in the first place.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Saturday, 26 March 2005 03:14 (twenty-one years ago)

The first move you made that I wasn't sure of was when you moved your rook down from -- wait, I was black... -- A1 to A5 when I was threating the massive triple knight fork. I thought you would move it to B1. I wasn't sure if you were being superclever, though! Also you had your knight fork waiting so you nearly escaped unscathed.

I thought it was a great game with many excellent moves (once we got past the very cautious opening). But who knows, experts might think we missed a million opportunities!

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 26 March 2005 03:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Right, I see it. I think I actually missed that your bishop was protecting B4 + I was being overcautious in wanting to watch my queen's back. B1 would have made more sense in retrospect but for some reason I don't think I even thought of that.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Saturday, 26 March 2005 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i think when i finally lose this game i'm going to retire from chess... it's very tiring!!

...and four days later still it grinds on. From the position I'm in I

The Horse of Babylon (the pirate king), Sunday, 27 March 2005 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

{OOPS} ...should win easily, but I'm starting to get jittery.

The Horse of Babylon (the pirate king), Sunday, 27 March 2005 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i had an opportunity to have possibly made things really difficult a couple moves back

ken c (ken c), Monday, 28 March 2005 01:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Miccio's in! I didn't realize this

no i'm not. I finally checked this thread after Ken C implied there might be pictures of girls here. There aren't and now I find out somebody is imitating me on a chess online forum. wacky. some pals in town went chess-mad last year and I burnt out. THE REAL ANTHONY IS NOT PLAYING CHESS ONLINE. HE IS PLAYING A GAME CALLED DIAMONDMINE ON SHOCKWAVE.COM. ALONE. AS HE WANTS IT.

miccio (miccio), Monday, 28 March 2005 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

haha so who the fuck am I playing?

sundar subramanian (sundar), Monday, 28 March 2005 07:26 (twenty-one years ago)

whoever has been imitating you has been rubbish! that's all i can say.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 28 March 2005 07:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I just mated blueski without, um, without realizing I had done it until the computer told me.

Just as well, I have to catch a train. Back in a few days.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 21:32 (twenty-one years ago)

It was all "rematch" and I was all "how did he resign so quickly?"

That said, 28 ..Nf6e4 is my favorite move I have ever made ever, I think. I waited half the game to pull that sneaky-sneak off.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

dude, the game's almost up - we should've wrapped it up tonight - it's going right to the wire!

i beat ambrose on exactly 50 moves i think

Sven Bastard (blueski), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 21:43 (twenty-one years ago)

The game IS up!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

the penny hasn't dropped yet

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i am on course to lose every game now

:(
anyone who wants to win for a confidence boost, im yr man

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 22:22 (twenty-one years ago)

The game IS up!

oh crap, i didn't see that coming. how disappointing.

Sven Bastard (blueski), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

My first win! And appropriately, against the first person to whom I lost.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 01:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Ken is back in it! Wow.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 04:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Just....can't.....finish...him....off
Powers....fading.....
Heading....for....a....draw.....

The Horse of Babylon (the pirate king), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 08:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Stupid chess.

Cathy (Cathy), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

poor cathy's queen :(

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i wish we could set up a tournament

Sven Basted (blueski), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Goddamn, thought I had ambrose for sure. Like I had an ending in my sights that has run away forevah.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Ken, I meant to do something else! I am so furious.

Cathy (Cathy), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I almost had you, there, ken.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

2 wins!

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 23:14 (twenty-one years ago)

(and 4 losses of course). I just challenged Julia (julesb74, right?).

sundar subramanian (sundar), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 23:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i wish we could set up a tournament

Why can't we?

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 2 April 2005 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Woo-hoo! SteveM bites the dust. Meanwhile Ken C keeps the game that will never end going...

The Horse of Babylon (the pirate king), Sunday, 3 April 2005 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

jesus christ that's my third consecutive stupid mistake in a row (see also Casuistry and Sundar), the games are moving too slow for me to be able to concentrate properly ;)

Sven Basted (blueski), Sunday, 3 April 2005 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

If any of the moves I've made is halfway clever, it's because the game is so slow.

Once I get back from travels next week I hope to be challenged to a whole new round of games.

Hey, also, there's a setting somewhere that lets you change the number of simultaneous games you can play. In case Cathy (or whoever it was?) needs more chesstimulation.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 4 April 2005 10:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I actually won a match! Mind you I'm convinced Ambrose would have won if he hadn't given his queen away at move 30.
I thought I had managed to arrange things to get a sneaky checkmate against Jules a couple of moves back only to realize that I had completely ignored one of her pieces and now I'm just fighting to try and get a draw.

Anyway I'm up for more matches if anyone feels like it. I have the fabulous record of won 1 lost 4...

Greig (treefell), Monday, 4 April 2005 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks Casuistry, I hadn't looked at the settings page. I just changed to the Medieval set, I wonder if it will put me off.

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 4 April 2005 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

The kid's set is so cute but so useless...

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 4 April 2005 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

So I realize the statistical sample is too small to mean anything really, but I seem to do much better as black than as white.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 4 April 2005 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

how do you delete your profile?

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 4 April 2005 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

You don't love me anymore.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 4 April 2005 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

omg! my undefeated streak carries on!
