h'shoe, imo the only thing charter schools have going for them is the decoupling of where you live and what you school you go to, I guess from n urban policy perspective it wouldnt be terrible if ppl felt more inclined to live in urban areas knowing their kids could go to a school that's decent (hitch: most charter schools are bullshit factories)

every nation is fucked in the long run; where would you draw the line matt damon?
― mookieproof, Thursday, 4 August 2011 02:38 (twelve years ago) link
yeah i think if i didn't live in a city with so many bs charter schools i wouldn't feel this way? also they do sap money away from public schools and some kids inevitably don't get into one and are sent back into a public system that no one is invested in anymore.

there was a glut of bieber hair in the korean middle and high schools i visited last year.
― estela, Thursday, 4 August 2011 02:39 (twelve years ago) link
i think those boys kind of know what's up tbh; i was teaching seventh graders and the bieber hair boys got way more attention from girls than the crewcut boys.

like I am a fucking masochist who reads the local education news stories and every comment is like WELL IF THESE PARENTS WOULD JUST DO THEIR JOB or IF THESE LAZY TEACHERS blah blah it's like, is there an area of policy which so many ppl believe there is only one easily identified problem and it's out of sheer malicious negligence that it doesn't get fixed?― davon cuul II (m bison), Wednesday, August 3, 2011 8:48 PM (3 hours ago) Bookmark
i thought tea party folks and libertarians take this approach to EVERY issue
btw hawaii doesn't link school funding to local property taxes IIRC.
