how much money did she offer to buy the car wash for?

$900,000 (rounding up)

ending of tonight's was fucking great, despite the set decorator really underplaying what a house where there's been a 3-day meth party looks like (and the screenwriter for that matter: that stereo is gone after that party, period). still just for tone it was A+
― pathos of the unwarranted encore (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 25 July 2011 03:50 (fourteen years ago)
haha yeah I was kinda underwhelmed by that craaaazy party and the aftermath, coulda been out of a disney movie
― iatee, Monday, 25 July 2011 03:52 (fourteen years ago)
a guy who's been tweaking for days + has access to firearms orders a pizza & it shows up unsliced = at least two people get shot in the balls iirc
I mean I dig that that's not where they're coming from but the party sort of showed a lack of awareness about what meth is like imo
― pathos of the unwarranted encore (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 25 July 2011 03:54 (fourteen years ago)
but the whole pizza thing was just to explain how a pizza could fly on a roof, which was sorta genius

what was that whack-ass rap-metal song biting the 'Angel of Death' riff

i'm amazed that this show can get away with some of the shot selection it gets away with - it doesn't really look like anything else on tv. the roomba tracking shot was so awesome
also love the really subtle character shading of mike the cleaner, andrea, etc; they're being given depth that they wouldn't have been given in seasons 1/2
i did love the bad tweaker logic to defuse the situation ("they pass the savings along to you!"), not the least of the reasons for which being that it's evidently a real pizza place
― unique housing opportunity (swanbed.gif) (govern yourself accordingly), Monday, 25 July 2011 05:25 (fourteen years ago)
This episode really emphasizes how ridiculous the idea that Walt is turning into, or that his true nature always was this cold, calculating Heisenberg persona.

also, i really dont want a reveal that hank's mineral collection has some relevant investigatory angle 2 it (i cant even guess what it could be tho)
― johnny crunch, Monday, 25 July 2011 13:47 (fourteen years ago)
i know im the only person in the world with this problem, but jesses inaccurate description of the stereo (cmon dude, aluminum cones are made out of aluminum) was really lazy writing/set dressing and totally irritated the shit out of me.
these are also the times that the wife is most likely to tell me to shut the hell up btw

yeah that was excellent. also appreciated the eye-in-the-sky shot of Walt standing in the street in front of Gus's house like a dumbass. with the crazy long shadows of him and the light pole.
― dmr, Monday, 25 July 2011 16:07 (fourteen years ago)
what a great episode. And the carwash cam!
― generous doler out of lollies (forksclovetofu), Monday, 25 July 2011 17:36 (fourteen years ago)
thought this ep was great - I guess I really have no idea what a meth party would *actually* look like, so playing that for lols in a John Hughes high school blowout sort sense was fine by me.
Any bb episode that contains ample amounts of Mike being Mike & comic relief via Badger & Skinny Pete, plus a new Better Call Saul commercial to boot is automatically going down as A+ in my book.
― notes on camping (Pillbox), Monday, 25 July 2011 17:49 (fourteen years ago)
jesses inaccurate description of the stereo
yes. he also said it was "totally digital; it's got these vacuum pre-amps"
badger & skinny pete's dialog is pretty much the only thing that bothers me about this show. it's as if the writers have never actually met an actual young person, so they resort to lots of "ain't"s and forced slang like "pushin' flowers" or however skinny pete phrased his excuse for not staying longer. this complaint is somewhat mitigated for by the gratuitous early morning thong butt, however.
― del griffith, Monday, 25 July 2011 18:02 (fourteen years ago)
i thought jesse's description was great; it was obviously the same line of horseshit that the guy who sold it to him spieled!
― generous doler out of lollies (forksclovetofu), Monday, 25 July 2011 18:05 (fourteen years ago)
also lol at "John Hughes high school blowout"; that's totally dead on
i agree w/ the slang complaint. jesse also said something like 'when i get back i want this party kickin like a sensei' that was so absurd and that no one ever has said
― johnny crunch, Monday, 25 July 2011 18:14 (fourteen years ago)
I love Jesse, Pete and Badger's relationship, it's kind of sweet. "Get me some scissors, I'll slice that pizza up for you real good."
― Inevitable stupid samba mix (chap), Monday, 25 July 2011 19:19 (fourteen years ago)
Also I imagine Jesse's parties consist mostly of middle class kids dabbling, not full-on meth fiends.

that great moment where Badger goes down to do a line and pete's head pops up!
Christ but Walt is capable of misreading people horrendously (re Mike).
― Inevitable stupid samba mix (chap), Monday, 25 July 2011 19:25 (fourteen years ago)
i felt like this episode sorta definitively answered the 'if walt is this amazing chemistry genius why wasnt he successful in his 'straight' life?' question

leftover dried bits of the guy gus cut up
― generous doler out of lollies (forksclovetofu), Monday, 25 July 2011 20:42 (fourteen years ago)
ah figured that.
thought it was a v good episode. hank/marie stuff v grim, v interesting to see where he can go from here. think mike/walt alliance will rear its head as a possibility again.
― LocalGarda, Monday, 25 July 2011 20:44 (fourteen years ago)
I agree, but it'll have to be on Mike's terms.
― Inevitable stupid samba mix (chap), Monday, 25 July 2011 20:49 (fourteen years ago)
really was pretty rash of Walt to go right to Mike having no idea what Mike's background is with Gus or how loyal he is
― dmr, Monday, 25 July 2011 21:27 (fourteen years ago)
walt is kinda all over the place too. perhaps not as much as jesse but he is pretty manic.

― Goldfoot, Tuesday, 26 July 2011 07:45 (fourteen years ago)
The Walt-Mike scene was great, but it shows that Walt has no idea why Gus really killed that guy, and finding that out is valuable information later down the line. I hope they don't team up, I like Mike as a chilling enforcer who's as likely to save Walt's live as end it.
The fact that Saul has basically gone AWOL is a bit of an unexploded bomb, Skylar's going round trying to do a load of money laundering shit on her own and she's likely to draw attention to herself, I think.
Saul commercial was hilarious though. Gus killing scene and the whole first episode generally fucking tense throughout.
Hank and Marie are kind of painful to watch that the moment. I hope the story goes somewhere further than just another thing Walt has to pay for.
<3 Badger.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 26 July 2011 09:55 (fourteen years ago)
I'm not sure that Walt is this cold calculating type. I think he wants to be that but fails. I can see the show going either way, him becoming the Heisenberg kingpin type like we would expect or just like Walt's other endeavors he ultimately fails and moves onto something else, all the time citing these noble reasons and taking far too much pride in his work. He's the ultimate wasted talent/genius/ego maniac who always promises but never delivers. I think some links can be made to Bill Hendrickson (Big Love) who for the whole show you just end up screaming 'FUCKING LEAVE IT BILL'.
Think the relationship between Mike and Walt is going to develop into an interesting one. Mike's constant coughing and stuff I think could either be a red herring or a bit of an obvious clue as to how they might find common ground.
